WESTERN AUSTRALIA | Postal History 960 * B 1888 use of twelve 1d yellow-ochre P14 on PO Savings Bank deposit from, used at Govt School Guildford. Very unusual. C 1897 (Jun 8) cover from Moora bearing 2½d naively addressed ‘Gr W Cook/23 Company/Western Divison Royal/Artillery 961P * The Noine St/Lucia West India’ which unsurprisingly has a confused Post Office sending the article to India where it has received no less than 15 backstamps (along with that of Perth), ultimately an enlightened “No 96665/Read Proper adress (sic) West Indies” appears on front (Moora datestamp has been ‘enhanced’ in the same pen ink), together with ‘St Lucia/ WEST/INDIES’ in red ink, together with other embellishments, some in Native characters, and a fresh address flap has wisely been affixed to ensure no further confusion. Remarkable origin/destination item despite some aging. A/B 1907 use of ½d & 1d x2 on Western Australia AR form, one 1d with typical pin hole damage, but a rare survivor. 962 *F 963 *F A 1930 (Jun 26) Official cover from Perth bearing KGV 1½d red ‘OS’, addressed “Bush Landing/North Dandalup”, unclaimed and subsequently acquiring ‘No2 STATE MILL DWELLINGUP/15JL30/WESTERN AUSTRALIA’ cds (2nd type – two strikes, one superb) and ‘WHITTAKERS MILL/30JE30/WESTN AUSTRALIA’ cds.
