[9d: Intrastate 1-2lbs. parcel rate.] Victoria: British Empire Rate 1913 (Jul 11) cover Melbourne to NZ bearing extraordinary franking of coil vending machine dispensed Victoria 1d rose-red and Kangaroo 1d, the characteristic ‘knife’ mechanism separations clearly evident in both instances, tied by ‘LATE/FEE/STOCK EXCHANGE/VIC’ duplex. Extremely rare combination franking, important also for the Coil specialist. [The Victoria stamp is positioned slightly over left side of Kangaroo, suggesting it was affixed subsequently, to address the late posting.]

1934 1/6d Hermes No Wmk Dull Lilac Plate Proof BW #161PP(1), unpriced, on a highly surfaced white paper (small fault) distinct from the normal, together with 3d and 6d Airmails tied by Catherine Hill Bay cds to 1937 (Jul 12) souvenir philatelic cover prepared by W.H. (“Bill”) Hornadge, whose mother was Postmistress at this Post Office. A new discovery and believed to be a unique usage (normal on cover accompanies). [It is believed that this stamp came from special display boards of current Australian stamps. These were made up in 1935 and used for display in Post Offices. Only one example, other than this lot, exists in private hands.]

1938 2d Sesquicentenary Man With Tail in vertical pair with normal, BW #175e, very scarce in pair. 1938-66 ½d Orange Kangaroo Perf 14¾x14 No Wmk half-pane of 30 with mild partial offset on 2 top rows, very minor offsetting affects bottom 2 rows.
