The mail was salved and taken by Corio on 14 Dec, arriving Sydney 16 Dec. An extremely rare ‘crash” cover, confirmed by Five Dock backstamp (17 Dec). AAMC 835 – unpriced. [AAMC states: “The only identification of Coorong mails would appear to be a London postmark of 27 or 28 Nov. 1938. Such covers need not have received a cachet or have a damaged appearance.” We suggest Coorong mail would have a posting date between 2-4 Dec. 1938. Posting dates of 27 or 28 Nov. would be likely to have been loaded to SE54 or 55.]
