(76) 1911 Stamp Design Competition by Grant of Wonthaggi being an unusual group of composite ‘miniature sheets’ of the five designs comprising the 1972 Cohen offset print in six colours on matt paper plus shades for four colours, and the higher quality letterpress 1998 reprints by Brusden-White in six colours on glazed card (red card with some soiling), sequentially numbered on reverse (Nº 100 of 100 sets produced), also proofs in black (2, uncut 150 x 50mm on varying stocks), and copy of letter from Australia Post acknowledging donation of original Grant letterpress block after the latter reprints were made. [see ACSC Kangaroos 1/19] 1913-36 Collection complete on 7-Seas pages (ie no line perf, no rough papers) including surcharges, ‘OS’ overprints and couple extras. Postmark and shade variety potential. (100s) All Watermarks and Values massive mainly fine, roughly annotated and somewhat chaotic accumulation in two Euro stockbooks and on hagners with OS opts and perfins, quantity ACSC, BSAP and unlisted varieties, wide range of shades, cds and other postmark interest. One book is dedicated entirely to 1d reds rough and smooth paper where Die II’s include substituted cliché, small group LM wmk, some ‘G’ number annotated shades (no Die III seen but may be lurking somewhere). Second (64 page Lighthouse) crammed with all other values including 4d orange shades x40+ incl lemon and wmk invtd, 1/4d x40+ (mostly SM P13½x12½ and CofA wmks), 100s and even more prodigious quantities many other values especially 1½d and 2d. Set up shop with this keenly priced lot which, broken down, would retail in the $1,000s. (1,000s) All Watermarks Range mixed mainly fine in small chinese stockbook incl OS perfins.
