[Not seen by us previously, nice companion for the Australia 3/7d and 5/10d Food Parcel stamps.] A 1950 use of 2/- Crocodile pair & 3½d UPU on 8½d Registration Envelope (triple weight = 4/6d + 6d registration) airmail 1771 *F from Adelaide to Frankfurt, Germany. An unusual rate. 1772P *U A/B 1950s-80s Covers Collection mixed mostly QEII period from early 1950s with some earlier oddments including two 1900s PPCs sent o/seas, 1934 Imperial Airways Brisbane-London FF, 1936 (Oct 20) SA Centenary cover. Plenty sent to South Africa noting group 1952 Sydney-Joburg and intermediates FF, few other foreign destinations (eg GB, Rhodesia, NZ). Decimal FDCs with some PSEs majority unaddressed. Worth a look, might surprise. (c140) A 1953 philatelically inspired registered air packet to Chicago. With 9 different stamps (1d, 3d & 6d Engraved (6d Cat $2,500 1773 *F on cover), 1/- Vic Centenary (cat $300 on cover), 2/- Roo, 9d NSW Sesquicentenary, 2½d surcharge & 5½d & 1/6d Federation) making a total of 6/9d (triple weight + registration). A very cheap way to get some of these stamps on cover. A 1956 use of 2/- Olympics (creased) & 1/- Olympics pair & 2½d QEII on 1/0½d Registration Envelope from Mullewa, WA to 1774P *F Germany. An unusual rate. 1775 * A1959 air mail envelope of HMAS Albatross franked 1959 QEII 4d Type BW #353B with indistinct NSW cds August 12, 1959 (probably ‘RANAS NOWRA’) alongside violet ‘NAVAL SERVICE’ handstamp. Some peripheral faults, good example of special rate. A/A- 1960-64 Queensland Tourism Advertising group of eleven different produced by the Government Printer for the Dept of 1776P *F Primary Industries with printed slogans such as “The Tropic Wonderland”, “Tourist Attractions in Queensland”, “Queensland Wonderland South Pacific”, “Queensland the Queen State for Investors” all on long kraft envelopes with meter frankings, plus one on long window envelope. (12) A1962 two letters from Director-General in the Postmaster-General’s Department dated January 23, 1962 and April 27, 1962 1777 * announcing proposed John McDouall Stuart 5d commemorative stamp to be issued July 25, 1962 and - attached to the second letter - a photograph of the designer’s original essay. Removable adhesions. (2) A/B 1970s-80 ‘Greetings From’ Range mainly NSW and a few Queensland, mild duplication, attractive. (c.130) 1778 *U 1779P *F A1990 local Newcastle letter with ‘RETURN TO SENDER’ hand & ‘Undeliverable this/Address due to/Earthquake Damage/ UNCLAMED AT/NEWCASTLE PO’ on face. The first we have seen. Rare. 1782P D 1919 Ross Smith England - Australia two and a half strikes of the legendary double oval ‘FIRST AERIAL MAIL/ RECEIVED/26FEB1920/GREAT BRITAIN TO AUSTRALIA’ on a creased and foxed horizontally lined piece. Proofs of this handstamp are known with a 24 February 1920 date; these of uncertain origin, possibly from a larger than usual postal packet. B 1927 Cloncurry - Normanton AAMC #106, Cat $175 - a Davis Bros cover signed by the postmaster (small tear), 1783 * ‘FORWARDED/BY AIR MAIL’ special cachet in violet with ‘CLONCURRY/12-P30JE27/QUEENSLAND’ cds. Plus another, this time originating at Longreach where special cachet in black with ‘LONGREACH/9-A30JE27/QUEENSLAND’ (first recorded date), red etiquette of Gulf Air Service; attempt to clean has almost obliterated the address and other inscription. (Only 50 flown). AAMC #340. 1933 Australia - New Zealand (Dec 3) souvenir postcard of ‘Faith in Australia’ and the crew and signed by Mr & Mrs Ulm, impressed by two violet cachets noting departure and arrival. This later used by, and addressed to, Ernie Crome, and carried Sydney to Townsville sector on 1934 Australia - Papua flight where it is AAMC #395c cat from $375. Minor soiling, very scarce (only 50 carried). 1934 Australia - New Zealand (Unofficial) AAMC #350, Cat $650; signed by the four crew members and the two passengers, NZ 1d Health tied ‘NEW PLYMOUTH/15JA34-6PM/NZ’ (not ‘4PM’ as AAMC records). The envelope then turned over and used February 17, 1934, as AAMC #360 registered with NZ Health cinderella tied Sydney backstamp. The entire hybrid trimmed, reinforced and well annotated on display page. 1934 Brisbane - Cracow and return (Feb 3) AAMC #351-2, both prepared by HR Eames, the first to himself mailed originally from Sydney and then redirected, the return sector registered to Canada, both with a plethora of postmarks; (June 2) three from the service extension comprising a Sheard Mundubbera - Brisbane AAMC #382, a registered and redirected AH Young Mundubbera - Cracow AAMC #384 and a Robertson Cracow - Mundubbera AAMC #385, the last two pilot signed Ron or Ronald Adair over violet handstamp of ‘AIRCRAFTS PROPIETARY LTD’. Four have 3d Air Mail franking, two of which are Type B, some small imperfections, only one needed to complete all sectors. (5) 1934 Adelaide - Cowell (Feb 23) MacRobertson-Miller Aviation Co AMC #362 plus three intermediates AAMC #363a, cat from $100 each and comprising Port Pirie - Adelaide and Port Pirie - Whyalla these two as well as AAMC #362 by and to Ernie Crome, the third Whyalla - Port Pirie for a Mr R.
