1934 1/6d Hermes No Wmk Dull Lilac Plate Proof ACSC #161PP(1), unpriced, on a highly surfaced white paper (small fault) distinct from the normal, together with 3d and 6d Airmails tied by Catherine Hill Bay cds to 1937 (Jul 12) souvenir philatelic cover prepared by W.H. (“Bill”) Hornadge, whose mother was Postmistress at this Post Office. A new discovery and believed to be a unique usage (normal on cover accompanies). [It is believed that this stamp came from special display boards of current Australian stamps. These were made up in 1935 and used for display in Post Offices. Only one example, other than this lot, exists in private hands.] RPSV certificate (2012) confirms that it is genuine and the stamp is from a trial printing.

This is the only such cover known to us. 1994 Kangaroos & Koalas Counter Printed Stamps strip of 3 with denomination & literal omitted, ACSC #1827ca, Cat $200 as strip of 6. 1994 Counter Printed Stamps (Kangaroos & Koalas) five of the six designs denominated $20 at NPC where posted in 1995 (Jul-Aug) for correct TaxPackExpress rate, which guaranteed priority processing of tax returns. These are extremely rare commercial usages; accompanying the lot is an extract from June 2012 Stamp News, wherein Rod Perry explains the reason for these items being in private hands, and states only 25 covers exist bearing the CPS $20 stamps, including one complete set of the six designs.
