C hild o f the Universe Go p la c id ly a m id the noise & haste, & rem em ber q u ie tly & c le a rly ; and listen to others, even the d u ll & ignorant; they too have th e ir story. A void loud & aggresive persons, they & lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievem ents as w e ll as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however hum ble; i t is a real possession in the changing fortunes o f tim e . Exercise caution in your business affairs; fo r the w orld is fu ll o f tric k e ry . But le t th is not b lin d you to w hat virtu e there is; many persons strive fo r high ideal; and everywhere life is fu ll of heroism, be yourself, sp e cia lly, d o jio t fe ign a ffe ctio n . Take k in d ly the counsel o f the years, g ra c e fu lly surrendering the thinqs of youth. Nurture strength o f s p irit to shield you in sudden m isfortune. But do not distress yourself w ith im aginings. Many fears are born o f fa tigu e & loneliness. Beyond a wholesome d iscip lin e , be gentle w ith yourself. You are a ch ild o f the universe, no less than the trees & the stars; you have a rig h t to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as i t should. . . .people often say of H im ; " I 'm ready to accept Jesus as a great m oral teacher, but I d o n 't accept His c la im to be G od." T h a t is the one thing we must not say. Our Soccer team o f 7 6-77 was a young but very s k illfu l and determ ined squad. Unable to score e xte n sive ly, but playing dogged defense, the team was able to force a p la y -o ff game w ith Scottsdale C hristian to determ ine w hich team would play against Judson fo r the League Championship. This game was in d ic a tiv e o f our efforts throughout the season. Though dom in a ting play from the opening w h istle , we were s till unable to score, and a fte r two scoreless overtim es, the rules demanded a k ic k o ff of penalty shots, each team a lte rn a tin g a shooter and goal tender. A fte r e ig h t shooters fro m each team had gone to the penalty lin e , Scottsdale booted the w inning goal. Though it was a heartbreaking loss, our team , losing o nly John Gleason via graduation, is looking fo r ward to w hat seems a very good shot a t the League Championship next fa ll.
