A MESSAGE From The Headmaster DEAR COMMUNITY

With the launch of our comprehensive campaign, which we are calling

THRIVE,

we

announce our presence as the preeminent independent school in the region and one of the best in the nation. An outstanding academic experience will always be our priority. We believe, however, that a top-flight education extends beyond the greatness of the classroom. Our alumni were inspired and challenged through co-curricular opportunities like art, music, drama, and athletics, through which young people build skills that are the

foundation of their future — skills like grit and determination, teamwork and communication, creativity and resourcefulness. Over the past decade we have been fortunate to conduct significant enhancements to the Lower School, Middle School, and arts structures in the Upper School. However,

there remain critical pieces of the puzzle that we must address in order to maintain an environment that complements our first-rate academic experience. In the pages that follow you will get a sense of what we must do next to ensure that we remain a place where

every student can participate in the activities that foster their personal growth. Everyone has a role to play in the success of PCDS, and every student we educate can have an exponential impact on the world. We stake our claim, proud of who we are and who we are to be. Your support enables us to T H R I V E .

Next fall they will open Phoenix Country Day School as a private, nonsectarian and nonprofit institution centered upon college preparation. Its advisory board includes top educators from Harvard, Yale and Stanford. Considering the need for schools of that caliber, the outlook for its success should be excellent. But PCDS refuses to be content in this success – much as it did through its earliest years, the School continues to drive forward into more innovative pursuits, all with the students’ best interests at heart. The School has been selected by Stanford University’s Challenge Success Program to help PCDS continue to be the most engaging for the brightest students in the area – and one that will have the deepest impact on the educational landscape in Arizona. PCDS, having recently graduated its 50th class of students, is fulfilling its promise. And the sky is the limit.” A N D R E W M . R O D I N, H E A D M A S T E R , P C D S

When asked to co-chair the campaign, I jumped at the chance. My daughter Annabel is the 9th person in my family to attend PCDS and each of us has loved our experience here. PCDS has given us the memories and the foundation to succeed on our chosen paths. This is no accident; PCDS is a special place because of the amazing generosity of the families who have come before us. The school needs your help again and now is the time to help PCDS maintain its leadership position not just in the Valley, but nationally.

PCDS has been a special place for our three children who are all PCDS lifers. Because families before us had the foresight to build a world-class school, Rita and I feel we have the same responsibility to pay it forward. These new facilities and programs will bolster the infrastructure to keep PCDS at the forefront of PK-12 education nationwide. We hope you will join us in supporting this important initiative. Whatever your interests, you can impact thousands of PCDS students for years to come.
