Foreword Congratulations are in order. This year marks the 10th anniversary of PhotoVoice. Through this decade, the charity – active in a multitude of ways that share the common thread of photography – has built a most impressive momentum. The annual PhotoVoice auction has become a rallying point for photo-enthusiasts of every stripe – professional and amateur photographers, agents, collectors, critics, teachers, students. Through the generous gestures of all who participate – by giving works, organising and promoting the event or taking part in the bidding – shared passions are directed towards enabling others, less privileged, to use photographic picture-making as an affirmation of identity and of community. Looking at the images coming together for this anniversary auction I realise that they provide a fascinating and exemplary review of the best of photography today. Here are fine examples of contemporary practice within every genre – with a terrific selection of classic icons for good measure. Potential bidders should remember the axiom that ‘Now never happens twice’ and opportunities such as this – to bid on and hopefully secure these splendid prints and, in doing so, to make a real contribution to the lives of others – must be seized with passion.

Projects

PhotoVoice is an award-winning international charity. Our projects enable those who are traditionally the subjects of photographs to become their creators. Through photography, these individuals find the confidence to speak out about their challenges, concerns, hopes and fears.

PhotoVoice’s vision is for a world in which no one is denied the opportunity to speak out and be heard. PhotoVoice’s mission is to build skills within disadvantaged and marginalised communities using innovative participatory photography and digital storytelling methods so that they have the opportunity to represent themselves and create tools for advocacy and communications to achieve positive social change.

PhotoVoice’s partners are involved in every project – be they an international NGO or a local community organisation.

PhotoVoice works in the UK and internationally, with projects spanning four continents. We work with a wide range of people who are marginalised, at risk and discriminated against because of factors including poverty, ethnicity, age, health, disability and HIV status. We provide an international platform for these groups to show their work and advocate for change. Why Photography? The power of photography lies in its dual role as an art form and a means to record facts. It provides an accessible way to define realities, communicate perspectives and raise awareness of important social and global issues. Photography crosses cultural and linguistic barriers for people of all ages and can be adapted to all abilities. Its relative low cost and ease of dissemination provides the potential to generate dialogue and discussion.

Here is a taste of our 2010 projects:Thanks to all of our project partners, facilitators and volunteers. UK

The Waiting project in Glasgow, aims at stabilising the lives of its young beneficiaries waiting to secure permanent accommodation and to prevent their exposure or regression into drugs, alcohol, harmful and disruptive behaviour. It will provide concrete creative and life skills by training hostel-based young people in participatory photography. Their work will be exhibited in public spaces to raise awareness of their situtaion. Making the Change, our project with young disabled people across the North West of England, culminated with the young people sharing their photographs and opinions with special education needs service providers and Local Authority staff at a one day event. Providers and staff pledged positive changes to the way young people are supported to transition from child to adult services.

The Having Our Say project has been working with young people affected by sexual exploitation to express themselves through photography and build their confidence to speak out about the issues affecting them. A project celebration in October launched a youthfocused publication of their work and a travelling exhibition.

Our bursary scheme, the John Kobal New Work Award, was given to Gary Waite from Sights Unseen and Masoud Shinwari from Moving Lives, to support the continuation of their photography training.

International

Young people living with HIV/AIDS in St Petersburg, and young Roma people in a community affected by HIV in Bosnia Herzegovina, created work that was shown at the International Aids Congress in Vienna in July 2010 as part of the World Vision Youth as Agents for Change – Direct Voices campaign. Working with Amnesty International on their Dignity Campaign, led us to Paraguay. We Are Only Asking for What is Ours, is a project that worked with young people from three landless, indigenous minority communities to create campaign images about their situation, complementing a global campaign for the return of their land.

Photographic workshops ran in India in partnership with Safai Karmachari Andolan which provided members of the Dalit (‘untouchable’) community with the opportunity to create images to feed into the Dalit Solidarity Network UK’s Foul Play campaign to end the illegal practice of manual scavenging (cleaning dry latrines by hand). Visible Rights, a project with young people in Afghanistan, began in June with the help of our partner Media Support Partnership Afghanistan. High school students and NGO staff participated in photography workshops that produced work that will be exhibited around Kabul to raise awareness of the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child. 2011…

Next year we have plans for several more projects looking at poverty, migration, disability and gender discrimination. A second project with the National Working Group for Sexually Exploited Children and Young People is in development.

Lots in the silent auction are exhibited with accompanying bidding sheets. To place your silent bid please write down your paddle number next to the sum you are offering. The minimum increment for each lot will be indicated on the corresponding bidding sheet. In each case the final and highest bid will win the lot. Silent bidding will close at 21.30.

Pricing Guidelines Many of these photographs are rarely or never available for sale and so it is difficult to accurately predict their eventual prices. The pricing guide is intended to give a realistic point from which to start bidding and does not necessarily represent the full potential value of the photographs. A number of the images, including some of those which are particularly collectable, carry a reserve price and will be left unsold if this is not met. Please see back page for Terms & Conditions.

Philip Jones Griffiths courtesy of the Philip Jones Griffiths Foundation Untitled, 1961 ‘This young boy epitomizes our Welsh ambivalent love for both rugby and music. This place, Pant-y-Wean, was once, in the 1930s, voted the most Beautiful Village in South Wales, but it has long since been obliterated by opencast mining. When I asked what he was doing, he replied, "My mother gave it to me to mend."’ Silver gelatin, fibre based print, 16" x 20" Foundation Stamped, printed 2010 Philip Jones Griffith’s book on the war, Vietnam Inc., crystallised public opinion and gave form to Western misgivings about American involvement in Vietnam. Philip became a Member of Magnum Photos in 1971 and became it’s president in 1980. Philip published two further books Agent Orange and Vietnam at Peace that examined the legacy of the war. Philip died on 19th March 2008. PhotoVoice is honoured to have had Philip as their Patron.

Nick Danziger courtesy of *nbpictures and artist Ethiopian Church Debre Damo,Tigray, 2007 ‘Burials at Debre Damo are extremely rare and only men are allowed up to the summit or to be buried there.’ Silver gelatin, fibre based print, 20" x 16" Printed 2010 Nick Danziger is a polymath of extraordinary breadth; photographer, painter, filmmaker and best selling author. After his schooldays in Switzerland he went to Chelsea School of Art, later holding one-man exhibitions of his painting in London and New York. His photographs have appeared in countless newspapers and magazines worldwide and have been widely exhibited. In 1982, his book Danziger’s Travels, became an immediate bestseller. In 1991, his documentary film ‘War, Lives and Videotape’ won the prestigious Prix Italia for best television documentary; he has gone on to make 40 others. He has received many prizes, awards and honorary degrees for his work. PhotoVoice is honoured to have Nick as a Patron.

David Hurn / Magnum Photos The Beatles, Abbey Road, 1964 Archival pigment print on Crane Museo fibre paper, 22" x 17.5" Signed recto, printed 2007 David Hurn was born in 1934 in Surrey, England. David is a self-taught photographer who began his career in 1955 as an assistant at the Reflex Agency. While a freelance photographer, he gained his reputation with his reportage of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. He became a full Member of Magnum Photos in 1967 and in 1973 he set up the school of Documentary Photography in Newport in Wales.

Sarah Moon La Piscine, 1999 Silver gelatin, fibre based print, 7.9” x 11.8” Edition of 10, signed verso, printed 2010 Texture, surface, seeing, believing, dreaming – it is difficult to summarise Sarah Moon’s fantastical photography which after almost 30 years of image-making has made her a legend in her own lifetime. Working extensively in photography and film, Sarah has been exhibiting worldwide since 1982. She has published over a dozen books and is also a celebrated filmmaker. Some of her distinctions and honours include the Clio Award, the Lion d’Or for two consecutive years, the Grand Prix de la Photographie and the American Society of Media Photographers Award for Outstanding Achievement in Fashion Photography. PhotoVoice is honoured to have Sarah as a Patron.

Lucien Clergue Zebra Nude indoors, with a venetian blind in Lucien’s studio in Arles, France. Sunlight unpublished, 2009 Silver gelatin, fibre based print 11.5" x 15" Limited Edition 2/30, signed recto and verso, printed 2009 Lucien Clergue was born in 1934 in Arles, France. In 1949, he learned the rudiments of photography. Four years later, at a corrida in Arles, he showed his photographs to Pablo Picasso, who demanded to see others. Within a year and a half, young Lucien worked with the goal of sending photos to Picasso. On 4 November 1955, Lucien visited Picasso in Cannes. Their friendship lasted nearly 30 years until Picasso’s death. The book, Picasso My Friend retraces the important moments of their relationship. Lucien went on to participate in a Museum of Modern Art show in 1961. In 2007 he became a Member of the French Academy of Arts and the city of Arles honored Lucien and dedicated a retrospective collection of 360 of his photographs dating from 1953 to 2007. He also received the 2007 Lucie Award. His work has not been shown in the UK for 40 years.

Irving Lippman courtesy of The John Kobal Foundation Marlon Brando,The Wild One, 1953 ‘American actor Marlon Brando as gang leader, Johnny in 'The Wild One', directed by Laszlo Benedek for Columbia Pictures.’ Silver gelatin, fibre based print, 20” x 16” Foundation stamped, printed 2010 Irving Lippman's (1906 – 2006) career started as an assistant cameraman on a Fatty Arbuckle comedy in 1922. From the 1930s through to the 1950s he worked as a stills and portrait photographer for many movie projects. Although not credited for his work on 'The Wild One', he is known to have taken stills for it.

He joined Stern magazine in 1964. Specialising in reportage and stylish colour features, he has received numerous awards for his work. Thomas became a Member of Magnum Photos in 1989.

Herb Ritts courtesy of the Herb Ritts Foundation David Hockney, Los Angeles 1989 Silver gelatin, fibre based print 20” x 16” Limited Edition 20/25, signed verso, printed 1992 Herb Ritts (1952 – 2002) began his photographic career in the late 1970s and gained a reputation as a master of art and commercial photography. In addition to producing portraits and editorial fashion for Vogue, Vanity Fair, interviews with Rolling Stone, Karan, Gap, Gianfranco Ferre, Gianni Versace, Giorgio Armani, Levi's, Pirelli, Polo Ralph Lauren, and Valentino, among others, he directed a number of award winning music videos and commercials. His fine art photography has been the subject of museum and gallery exhibitions worldwide, with his works residing in many significant public and private collections. Herb Ritts passed away on December 26 2002.

Massimo Vitali Marina di Pietrasanta, 2009 C Type print under plexiglass, 9.5" x 7.5" Limited Edition 10/35, signed authenticity label, printed 2009 Massimo Vitali was born in 1944, in Como, Italy. World famous for his Italian beach panoramas, Massimo began his career as a photojournalist, going on to work as a cinematographer for TV & cinema, only returning to photography to start working on the beach series in 1995. These images show a sanitised, complacent view of Italian normalities, at the same time as revealing the inner conditions and disturbances of normality: it’s cosmetic fakery, sexual innuendo, co-modified leisure, deluded sense of affluence and rigid conformism. Highly recognisable and highly collectable Massimo has expanded his work to include the beaches of Cornwall for the Sunday Times Magazine, crowds on holiday in the Canary Islands for Boots, Wallpaper Magazine and The New York Times. He lives and works in Lucca, Italy, and in Berlin, Germany.

Russell Glenister Greenland, 2010 ‘Fishing boats approaching icebergs, more than 50 metres in height. Near Ilulissat, Greenland.’ C Type print, 16.5" x 24" Limited Edition 1/25, signed verso, printed 2010 Russell Glenister recently sold all his photographic work to Bill Gates (Corbis Images). As well as a producer, he is a keen buyer of art. Now free again to put his images on open sale, he is selling his first piece in aid of PhotoVoice. Born in Battersea, London, Russell has as much commercial expertise as he does technical skill, having owned and sold not only his own collection, but also thousands of other images as part of an agency sale. Now fully focused on his photography, we can expect much from him in coming years.

In his 25-year career, he has built an impressive reputation as a portraiture photographer and was commissioned to photograph the Queen and the last four Prime Ministers. ‘BRIC’, an exploration of urban expansion of the emerging economies, has been exhibited in the UK, Europe, Africa and the Americas, and most recently at the Saatchi Gallery in London. ‘BRIC’ images are held in several significant private and corporate collections globally. David Anthony Hall Frozen Woodland, 2007 ‘This photograph was taken in Richmond Park during an extreme winter frost on Thursday 20th December 2007.’ Archival pigment print, face Mounted on to Acrylic with DiBond Aluminium backing, 98" x 16" Limited Edition 15/15, printed 2009 David Anthony Hall was born in 1969. He is an Irish artist based in London. David's work has been exhibited in eight countries, with emphasis on the UK, where 16 group shows culminated in his first West End solo show in June 2009. His work is held in private collections in 12 countries. He has held solo shows at Thompson’s Marylebone Gallery in 2009 and exhibited at many art fairs both in the UK and internationally. His group shows include ‘Shoebox Awards’, Oblong Gallery; ‘Cork Street Open’, Cork Street Gallery; ‘The Photographic Exhibition’,Thompson’s Marylebone Gallery; and ‘The Howard de Walden Art Prize’ 2009.

Simon Norfolk The Blenheim Oaks, 001, 2009 The ‘military’ oaks of Blenheim Palace Gardens Archival C Type print, 28" x 34.5" Five one-off prints, certificate of authenticity, printed 2009 Simon Norfolk was born in 1963 in Lagos, Nigeria. He studied Geography at Oxford University and Philosophy at Bristol and attended the legendary Documentary Photography course in Newport in South Wales. After an early career as a photojournalist for left-wing publications and latterly for Sunday magazines in the UK, he now lives and works in Brighton, England. Simon is a landscape photographer whose work is a probing of the meaning of the word ‘battlefield’ in all its forms. He is driven by a keen interest in the political forces shaping the world, especially the wars in the Middle East and the technologies and strategies that go into fighting these wars. Although active in the art world, much of his work is initially produced for magazines, in particular the New York Times Magazine.

Lori Nix Botanic Garden, 2008 C Type print, 16" x 20" Limited Edition 1/10, signed verso, printed 2010 Lori Nix was born in Norton, Kansas. She earned her MFA in Photography from Ohio University and her BFA in Photography and Ceramics from Truman State University. Her work has been shown nationally with exhibitions at Clamp Art Gallery, New York; Jenkins Johnson Gallery, New York;The George Eastman House, G. Gibson Gallery, Seattle; Miller Block Gallery, Boston; the California Museum of Photography; and Stephen Cohen Gallery, Los Angeles. She has been awarded grants by the New York Foundation for the Arts and the Ohio Arts Council. Lori lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.

This image is from a project documenting this carnival for the last 15 years and is published in the book Kanaval: Vodou, Politics and Revolution on the Streets of Haiti by Leah Gordon Archival pigment print, 23" x 23" AP1, Edition of 5 + 2AP, signed verso, printed 2010 Leah Gordon is from the UK. She visited Haiti for the first time in 1991. As a reportage photographer, Leah covered the coup in the early 1990s and then began to make work inspired more by the culture than the politics. Leah organised and co-curated the Ghetto Biennale in Port-au-Prince in December 2009. Her photography book Kanaval: Vodou, Politics and Revolution on the Streets of Haiti was published by Soul Jazz in June 2010. Leah teaches fact-based film at the University for the Creative Arts, Farnham.

He now resides in Johannesburg, South Africa where he has lived and worked for almost 30 years. Between 1982 to 2008 he has produced eight books and his style has evolved from photo-journalism to a unique artistic vision. Roger’s work has been shown in important institutions throughout the world and is represented in museum collections such as Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris;Tate, London; and Museum of Modern Art, New York and Paris.

Veronica Bailey Born Free; a Lioness of Two Worlds, Joy Adamson, Collins and Harvill Press, London 1960, 2003 ‘From the '2 Willow Road Series 2003' featuring the abstract photographs of books from the National Trust library of the modernist architect, Ernö Goldfinger and his wife Ursula Blackwell.’ This series won the Jerwood Photography Award. C Type print on Fuji Crystal Archive paper, 17" x 11" Limited Edition 3/12, signed, embossed, edition label on verso, printed 2003 Veronica Bailey was born in 1965 in London and graduated with a Masters in 2003. Veronica’s work includes the series 'Postscript' shot in 2005, which documents a small but revealing archive of letters and telegrams written by model, muse and photographer Lee Miller, to British surrealist artist Roland Penrose prior to their marriage in 1947. Veronica has had solo shows in UK, USA, Korea, Canada and Germany. 'Postscript' is represented in the V&A Museum London. 19

John Spinks Flower 3, 2009 C Type print, hand printed, 16" x 20" One-off print, printed 2010 John Spinks was born in 1970 in England and is a photographer living and working in London. Beginning his career as assistant to Juergen Teller in the mid 1990s, John has since contributed to publications including The Wire, I.D., Vogue U.S.A., The Guardian and The New York Times. He is about to publish his first book, which is a record of the textile industry in the Midlands and the North of England. He is the co-editor of Draft Magazine.

Her first major photographic essay focused on the lives of women doing striptease at New England country fairs. Carnival Strippers was published in 1976. A selection of these photographs were installed at the Whitney Museum of Art in June 2000. Susan joined Magnum Photos in 1976 and has worked as a freelance photographer since then. She is best known for her coverage of the insurrection in Nicaragua and her documentation of human rights issues in Latin America, which were published widely throughout the world. In 1981, Pantheon published her second monograph, Nicaragua, June 1978 – July 1979, which was reprinted by Aperture in 2008.

In 1994, he became a full member of Magnum Photos. She began photographing in 1946, while working at a photo-finishing plant in New York City, and then studied photography in 1948 with Alexei Brodovitch at the New School for Social Research in New York. Eve first became associated with Magnum Photos in 1951, and became a full Member in 1957. She is a fellow of the Photographic Society and in 1995, was elected Master Photographer, the world’s most prestigious photographic honour, by New York’s International Centre of Photography (ICP). Eve is best known for her work with Malcolm X and her discreet charm in China and Russia produced work of great depth and historical value.

They are built in the shape of a key to enable the owner to enter whilst carrying things on their back. This is a rare signed print of one of George’s personal images. Silver gelatin, fibre based print, hand printed, 12" x 15" Signed verso, printed 1965 George Rodger (1908 –1995) was a British photojournalist and the first photographer to enter the concentration camp at Bergen-Belsen in 1945. His photographs of the few survivors and piles of corpses were published in Life and Time magazines and were highly influential in showing the reality of the death camps. In 1947, George became a founder Member of Magnum Photos and over the next 30 years worked as a freelance photographer, taking on many expeditions and assignments to photograph the people, landscape and nature of Africa. Much of George's photojournalism in Africa was published in National Geographic as well as other magazines and newspapers.

The image evokes a sense of the horse being about to enter to the boxing ring. Frank Horvat Grégoire's hands, 2003 Archival pigment print, 16.5" x 23.4" Limited Edition 13/30, signed recto, printed 2010 Frank Horvat was born 1928 in Abbazia, Italy (now Opatija, Croatia). When Frank was 15, he swapped his postage stamp collection against a 35mm Retinamat camera. In 1947, Frank moved to Milano, Italy, where he studied art and went on to work for an advertising firm and freelanced for Italian magazines. In 1950 on Frank’s first trip to Paris, he met Henri Cartier-Bresson and Robert Capa. He later moved to Paris, where he still resides, having spent a short time in London mainly working for Life and Picture Post. In 1957, Frank became a fashion photographer, traveling between Paris, London and New York, working for Jardin des Modes, Elle, Glamour, Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar. Between 1958 and 1961 he was as an Associate Member of Magnum. Frank has published many books and exhibited worldwide.

Originally trained as a lawyer, he soon turned to photography whilst working for Stefan Lorant in Germany in the 1920s. He left Germany in 1934, as Hitler rose to power, following Lorant to the UK. When Picture Post Magazine was launched in October 1938, Kurt freelanced for them. Interned as an enemy alien in 1939, the then editor Tom Hopkinson negotiated Kurt's release and took him onto the staff. A gentle man, with a fine intellect, he influenced the reportage style of photography in the magazine and was one of the early pioneers of the Leica camera in the UK. He died in 1960. 39

Man (Hans Baumann) (1893-1985) was originally an artist and served as an Ulan, an elite mounted regiment in the German Army in the First World War. He worked for renowned editor Stefan Lorant in Germany in the 1920s but left for the UK in the early 1930s. Felix was interned at the start of the war but was released as a result of then editor Tom Hopkinson’s actions. A highly-strung, mercurial figure, his skills with the miniature camera were legendary; his narrative style near-perfection. Felix died in 1985.

Finbarr turned towards photography in March 2005 and now works as the Reuters chief photographer for West and Central Africa, coordinating pictures coverage for 24 countries. Finbarr’s photographs and multimedia have received numerous industry awards, the first of which was the World Press Photo of the Year award in 2006.

Anastasia Taylor-Lind Untitled, 2010 From the series ‘Cossack Women’ ‘Year 8 school girls at the Ataman Platov Cossack Cadet school in Belaya Kalitva, Southern Russia. The school here is funded by the Russian government and is the first in the country to accept female cadets as full time boarders. David Redfern London - November 11: Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend of The Who perform on stage at the Lyceum theatre on the Quadrophenia tour on November 11th 1973 in London. Ilfrachrome print, 20" x 16" Signed recto, printed 2010 David Redfern was born in 1936 and began his career in the twilight jazz clubs of London in the early 1960’s, risking his one and only camera amongst the jiving teenage crowds. The BritishTrad boom was underway and his first published photos featured Kenny Ball, Chris Barber, George Melly and the old Marquee Club. By day, David began photographing TV shows like ‘Ready Steady Go!’ and ‘Thank Your Lucky Stars’, resulting in now classic shots of the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and Dusty Springfield. Nights were spent at the 100 Club, Ronnie Scott’s or the Marquee. The expanded updated hardback edition of David’s book The Unclosed Eye was published by David himself in 2005. David sold Redferns Music Picture Library to Getty Images but is still active, marketing his prints and as a photographer.

The workshops taught them valuable digital media skills as well as how to speak out about issues that are important to them. The photographs from the project will be used by Afghan partner organisation MSPA to campaign for the rights of the child to be respected in Afghanistan, to raise awareness of the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child and will be exhibited in Kabul and in rural Afghanistan to prompt greater discussion of the important issues raised by the young participants. 63

Adam Cavalier Battersea Power Station, Queue, 2007 ‘An open day at Battersea Power Station attracted many people and a queue formed around the building.’ This image was shortlisted for the Landscape Photographer of the Year awards, 2007. These algae are real ‘sea vegetables’ and are an important source of protein and vitamins. I have all I dreamt of’, 2009 From ‘Youth as Agents For Change – Direct Voices’ a project working with young people living with HIV in St Petersburg, Russia, and young Roma women in Bosnia Herzegovina, in partnership with World Vision 2009. C-Type, 16" x 18" Limited Edition 2/50, printed 2010 In November 2009, PhotoVoice facilitators travelled to Russia and Bosnia Herzegovina to deliver photography workshops that would help young people speak out about their view of issues around HIV and AIDS. The workshops culminated in local exhibitions of work produced by participants in St Petersburg and Sarajevo during the week of World AIDS Day (December 1st), and at the International AIDS Conference (IAC) in Vienna in July 2010. The voices of young people were heard by those debating the issues and possible solutions on an international stage.

He continued his photographic work throughout high school and college, studying with Emmet Gowin and William Eggleston. He moved to the UK in 1987. Having spent 22 years in investment banking, he is now an active photographer and philanthropist. He lives in London with his family and recently had a solo exhibition, ‘Looking Back’, at Hamiltons Gallery, Mayfair, London. All proceeds from this exhibition were donated to Great Ormond Street Hospital, where his son was cured of a life-threatening illness many years ago.

Gary Breckheimer My Corner, 2009 ‘It was a beautiful July day in New York City when model E-String climbed upon the lamppost like a maiden on the bow of a boat. The photograph was taken on the border of SOHO and Little Italy.‘ Archival giclée print, 17" x 22" Limited Edition 4/24, signed recto, printed 2010 Gary Breckheimer is a New York-based photographer, and has been pursuing his craft for the past two decades. After attaining a BFA from Brooks Institute, he moved to New York and eventually to Europe where he enjoyed a successful career shooting fashion and portraiture. He made the transition from commercial fashion to fine art and developed a propensity for black & white imagery. He focuses predominantly on the juxtaposition of the female form against the manufactured backdrop of the city, allowing viewers to contemplate the image, not immediately obvious, but with meanings elusive enough to lure viewers back for deeper consideration. 83

The PhotoVoice 10th Anniversary Print Collection

PhotoVoice was built on a partnership between Anna Blackman and Tiffany Fairey which originated while both were studying for MAs in Social Anthropology at Edinburgh University. In 1999, in a bar in Arles, France, the idea of PhotoVoice the organisation was conceived. Anna and Tiffany’s and vision became a reality when PhotoVoice became a registered company in 2000. Today, PhotoVoice is proud to have completed over 50 projects in 23 different countries and to have Sarah Moon and Nick Danziger as patrons, It has six permanent members of staff, a board of trustees, a network of ambassadors, a team of freelancers, facilitators and volunteers, hundreds of donors and beneficiaries, and countless wonderful followers who support the charity online and at PhotoVoice events.

To mark this milestone PhotoVoice has put together a collection of beautiful limited edition prints that celebrates the diversity of our projects over the past 10 years and illustrates the power of photography and how it can give a voice the chance to be heard. All prints cost £125. 50% of revenue from the print sales is paid to the photographer, whenever possible. Here’s to the next 10 years!
