Applications of Ultrasounds Medicine, Material Sciences and Industry

The combination of basic sets an extension sets fits to various application of ultrasound. Ultrasounds are used in a multiple number of applications in different fields, whereas two basic techniques are used. Echography: an ultrasonic pulse is sent through an object. The observed echo (intensity and time delay) is used to analyse static phenomena in various fields. In medicine, echography is used for tumor diagnostics, cardiography and ophthalmology. In material sciences, engineering and industry non destructive testing of metals, concrete, wood and composites, as well as level measurement in process control are major applications. Doppler sonography: an ultrasonic pulse is send on a moving object and frequency shift due to Doppler effect is observed. From this, velocities are calculated which is of major interest in flow measurement in industry and medicine.
