EL SALVADOR CITY, Misamis Oriental – The Macajalar Bay Development Alliance (MBDA) is fast tracking the completion of the mangrove nursery project in Brgy. Molugan, El Salvador City in time for the on-set of the rainy season.

In a recent progress report submitted to energy-firm STEAG State Power Inc. (SPI), MBDA Program Manager Kristine Galarrita said the

series of Steag Environmental Golf Tournaments, the project aims to assist LGUs along the Macajalar Bay in their mangrove rehabilitation and development efforts, as part of a baywide campaign to protect the marine resources of the province. About P 0.4 million worth of assistance have been turned-over by SPI to MBDA to support its various environmental protection initiatives, part of which was used to construct a P126,000 mangrove nursery project in El Salvador. MBDA Chairman and

Laguindingan Mayor Oliver Ubaub lauded SPI for its support to the initiatives of MBDA citing the company as one of the private sector pioneers that responded first to MBDA’s call for greater private sector participation in environmental protection drive. An alliance among local government units, MBDA was established in 2008 for bay-wide integrated coastal management, initiated by Xavier University McKeough Marine Center (XU-MMC) with funding support from MISEREOR Germany.

Art is a nation’s most precious heritage, for it is in our works of art that we reveal to ourselves and to others the inner vision which guides us as a nation, and it has to have a vision, said Sescon. Along this line, with the stakeholders’ formulation of ICCAO’s vision, mission and goal, making a general plan for year 2016, would be a product of shared ideas and intellectual contribution. Capping for the city’s theme, “Culture as a Bridge for Development,” the workshop was composed of participants coming from the civil society group, city government, national government agency, and the academe.
