DOLE conducts confab on labor, human relations productivity in MisOcc by Lei Garrett I. Miraflor

OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental – The Department of Labor and Employment, Regional Office No. 10 (DOLE10), through its Misamis Occidental Provincial Field Office (Mis. Occ. PFO) conducted a Labor Relations, Human Relations and Productivity (LHP) seminar to the teachers and management of Deur and Deune Academe School of Technology Incorporated recently. DOLE-10 Regional Director Raymundo G. Agravante directed all the PFOs in the region to advocate industrial peace and LHP is one of the programs of the Department to address the matter. “LHP is a labor-management education program that aims to inculcate adherence to labor laws, harmonize work relations and provide tools and techniques for a greater productivity and competitiveness at the work place,” DOLE-10 Mis. Occ. PFO Head Leonardo G. Rodrigo said.

Rodrigo also said that the fullday seminar served as an avenue for the school faculty and staff to expand their knowledge on labor relations and other concepts such as but not limited to security of tenure, alternative dispute resolution strategies; human relation concepts including employee motivation, meaningful communication, positive values; and productivity techniques through 5S. The one-day course was participated by five teaching staff of Deur and Deune Academe School of

Technology Inc. The school had just opened recently in April, this year. Likewise, on March 15, the Provincial Office had conducted yet another LHP seminar to several teaching and non-teaching staff of the Misamis Institute of Technology, Incorporated (MIT, INC) in Ozamis City with 38 participants. In line with DOLE’s advocacy, the department particularly encourages workers and employers in the private sector to become responsible partners in the promotion of productive and decent workplaces, by actively adopting LHP’s three-core module. As for the schools, it is

recommended that school administrators, educators and other stakeholders in the education system participate in valuable staff development programs that aim to enhance productivity. LHP will keep teachers abreast of current developments in labor laws; ensure professional growth of teachers in knowledge, skills and attitude in line with the changes in the education system and help improve their continuous productivity in their jobs. These high aspirations resulted in meeting more than half of the target for LHP set for this year.
