Advocacy on breastfeeding continues with 2016 Hakab Na!

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur – Are you a breastfeeding mom who want to showcase the importance of breastfeeding?


The Modern Nanays of Mindanao is inviting breastfeeding mothers to participate in the 2016 Hakab Na!. It is a gathering of families and breastfeeding advocates which aims to create awareness of the health and economic benefits of breastfeeding. The simultaneous breastfeeding event also seeks to promote the provision of proper support to breastfeeding mothers and to encourage the communities to make breastfeeding a normal part of the day-to-day life. It will be held on August 6 in Alabang, Baguio, Bulacan, Cebu,

Cagayan de Oro, Davao, Iligan, Iloilo, Olongapo, Laguna and Pasig City in time for the observance of National Breastfeeding Awareness Month. In the cities of Cagayan de Oro and Iligan, the event will be held in Limketkai Mall Event Center and City Public Plaza, respectively. The month of August every year was declared as Breastfeeding Awareness Month to highlight the importance of breastfeeding as the natural and preferred method of feeding infants and young children. 946 hired in “Trabaho Mo, Sagot ng PESO” Manolo Fortich Job Fair MANOLO FORTICH, Bukidnon – Nine Hundred Forty Six applicants were Hired-On-The-Spot in “Trabaho Mo, Sagot ng Peso” Job Fair of the local government in collaboration with the Department of Labor and Employment and Public Employment Service Office at the New Gymnasium, Manolo Fortich town, Bukidnon. DOLE Bukidnon Head Raul L. Valmores said this DOLE program offers to graduate students employment privileges and apply to vacancies to various companies in just one venue. “Several agencies were invited to provide self-employed and training assistance,” he added.

“From the 3,015 job applicants and with some 8,840 vacancies for both local and overseas, 946 applicants were Hired-On-The-Spot,” Valmores said. Nimrod T. Asok, 23 years old of Barangay Tankulan, this municipality, was one of the HOTS. A graduate of


Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from Northern Bukidnon Community College, Asok was hired as a Trainee to be a Marketing Agent at Toyota-Cagayan de Oro. “I am so overwhelmed to being accepted right away, being my first time to join a Job Fair activity. I feel so happy, that despite being a fresh graduate and no working experience yet, I was able to land job. I am grateful to this Job Fair. I can compete with others without going to the company for the application. The job itself came to us!” Asok said. The applicants and employers were thankful for the conduct of the said Job Fair for it was just in time for the recent graduation of universities. Valmores further reported that there were some 18 companies/ agencies with vacancies for local employment:Toyota-CDO; PSA-10; Cebu Mitsumi Inc.; Philippine Call Center Inst.; Asianpro Cooperative; Rustan Supercenter Inc.; Alrose Group of Companies; Villa Oro Maintenance General Services Inc.; MIESCOR; Sanford Marketing Corp.; Philippine Pork Corp.; Sta. Agravante said that Job Fair is open to all unemployed, skilled and unskilled workers, fresh college graduates, graduates of training institutions, displaced workers and employees seeking advancement. DTI-MOR to host food innovation forum, ‘Tiangge’ 2016 CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Department of Trade and Industry Misamis Oriental (DTI-MOR) Provincial Office along with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the Mindanao University of Science and Technology (MUST) thru the Northern Mindanao Food Innovation Center will hold a one-day Food Innovation Forum and Tiangge 2016 in Cagayan de Oro City on July 20, 2016, 8:30 a.m.– 5:00 p.m.

The forum intends to inculcate micro food industries to continuously do research and product development as essential for business. Consequently in the process of undergoing product development, micro food enterprises will also need packaging and equipment suppliers. To address these needs, the activity will also showcase suppliers of packaging materials and food equipment. Suppliers from Manila,

Cebu and Davao will take part in the Tiangge catering to the needs of food entrepreneurs such as various plastics, printing, bottles, sealers, filling and sealing machines, mechanical dryer and etc. The activity will simultaneously hold the exhibit alongside the forum that will feature top-of-the-line speakers and consultants in the field of food business.
