Weighing scales confiscated in Operation Timbangan ILIGAN CITY – Ninety-one (91) uncalibrated or unsealed weighing scales were confiscated during the ‘Operation Timbangan’ conducted on September 1 at the two markets in Iligan city. The Local Price Coordinating Council of Iligan City (LPCC-Iligan) initiated Operation Timbangan to check on the deceptive practices of some entrepreneurs in terms of using uncalibrated weighing scales which may result to fraudulent weights of items bought by consumers. The Permits and License Division of the City Mayor’s Office of Iligan City (CMO-PLD) spearheaded the activity, in coordination with Economic Enterprise Development & Management Office (EEDMO). Majority of the confiscated weighing scales were from the vegetables vendors in Bagsakan 1 & 2 of Pala-o Market and Central Market. Out of the 91 confiscated scales, 56 from Pala-o Market, 25 from Central Market, two from the sidewalk fruit vendors, two from Mahayahay fruit stand, and six from Baraas Talipapa.
