PNP NorMin sacks chiefs of police for poor performance CAMP ALAGAR, Cagayan de Oro City – Twelve chiefs of police across northern Mindanao were relieved on September 5 from their posts for failing to keep up with the expected performance demand of Project “Double Barrel” or the campaign against illegal drugs of the Philippine National Police. NorMin Police Regional Director PCSupt Noel Constantino announced Monday that the chiefs of police of Cabanglasan and Kalilangan towns in Bukidnon; Villanueva, Magsaysay and Lagonglong in Misamis Oriental; Jimenez, Concepcion and Don Victoriano Chiongbian in Misamis Occidental; Pantar and Tangcal in Lanao del Norte; and Station 3 in Iligan City were relieved effective September 5, 2016. “They will be replaced and will serve the provincial police office (PPO) or city police office (CPO) as staff officers for not less than one year probation period,” PCSupt Constantino said. The relief came after two months of performance assessment, report

evaluation, validation, consultation and recommendation from the Project “Double Barrel” Oversight Committee. “They were evaluated as to their performance output including drug personality list generation, household visitations, search warrants implemented, arrest warrants served, filing of drug cases in court and other police operations conducted. Unfortunately, they were at the bottom and so we need to replace them to give way to officers who have the drive to perform better,” said Constantino. PRO 10 spokesperson Supt Surki Sereñas also revealed that the reshuffling of provincial and city directors is also expected at the end of September. (PIO PRO10)

DTI to accredit service, repair shops in accord with PD 1572 ILIGAN CITY – In a Fair Trade Laws briefing to around 30 participants from service and repair shops in Iligan City, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and the Local Government Unit of Iligan, pushed for complying with the provisions of Presidential Decree (PD) 1572 to continue operating their businesses. Pursuant to Section 1 of PD 1572 - Empowering the Secretary of Trade to Regulate And Control the Operation of Service and Repair Enterprises For Motor Vehicles, Heavy Equipment and Engines And Engineering Works; Electronics, Electrical, Airconditioning and Refrigeration; Office Equipment; Medical And Dental Equipment; And Other Consumer Mechanical and Industrial Equipment, Appliances or Devices, including the Technical Personnel Employed therein, no such service or repair enterprises and technical personnel shall be licensed or permitted to operate in the Philippines for the first time without first being accredited by the Department of Trade. But please try to understand us also, as a government agency mandated to regulate your business activities, in requiring you to comply with the requirements as

provided for by the law. You were given ample time already,” Redublado said to the participants. While Dr. Cenil G. Cortes of TESDA told the attendees, that before TESDA can help you out in the issuance of a national certificate (NC) or certificate of competency (COC) to your employeestechnicians as one requirement for DTI accreditation, you are advised to first secure a self-assessment guide and ask for the agency’s experts in the evaluation of skills and competencies. Meanwhile, Iligan City Mayor’s Office Permits and License Division Head Carmen P. Magnaye said, because of the President’s pronouncement on prompt processing and release of business permits, we are glad to inform you that it would only take an hour to process your applications, but have your shop first accredited by the DTI. The briefing was held at the Negosyo Center Training Room, DTI-Lanao del Norte Provincial Office in Pala-o, this city. (Angelo A. Devero, STIDS/DTI-LDN/PIA10 LDN)
