Dads OK MOA with DA for corn production

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The City Council during its regular session enacted Ordinance No. 13120-2016, authorizing the city mayor to enter into and sign the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Department of Agriculture, Regional Office Field No. 10 (DA-10), covering the grant of One Unit Corn Mill (Mobile) in Cagayan de Oro City.


Stipulated in the MOA is DA’s implementation of the Corn Program to enhance agricultural productivity and production and as a strategy of realizing the Agriculture and Fisheries Modernization Plan (AFMP). The DA is mandated to promote the agriculture sector through the provision of appropriate support services under the Corn Program. One component of the said Corn Program is the provision of corn mill to local government units for the corn farmers in their locality. This is to provide the needs of local governments of a

corn mill to enhance the value-adding capacities of the local corn farmers to increase their competitiveness, livelihood opportunities and income. Under the MOA, the local government unit (LGU) will shoulder and provide for the maintenance and operations’ cost of the equipment as well as its storage. The ordinance was favorably endorsed by the committees on agriculture and fisheries and on laws and rules chaired by Councilors Annie Daba and Ian Mark Nacaya, respectively. (EF/SP)

SP denounces bombing incident at Night Market in Davao City CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Heinous, senseless and barbaric. This is how members of the 18th City Council headed by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy of Cagayan de Oro describe the bombing incident at the Night Market in Davao City on September 2. During the regular session Monday, legislators adopted Resolution No. 12441-2016, vehemently denouncing and condemning in the strongest possible terms, the terroristic act, which claimed the lives of 14 persons and wounded several

others. Legislators are urging the Philippine National Police (PNP) and other law enforcement agencies to leave no stones unturned and exhaust all means to bring to the bar of justice the perpetrators of the crime committed against innocent and unarmed civilians. Vice Mayor Uy, Majority Floor Leader Councilor Ian Mark Q. Nacaya and Councilor Romeo Calizo are the proponents of the resolution. (SP)


Medical assistance program at JRBGH OKd CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The 18th City Council during its 9th regular session unanimously approved Ordinance No. 13119-2016, authorizing the city mayor to enter into and sign the Memorandum (MOA) of Agreement with the JR Borja General Hospital and the Department of Health-10, covering the Medical Assistance Program (MAP) to be extended to JR Borja General Hospital amounting to P6,930,000 for the marginalized constituents of Cagayan de Oro city. Under the MOA, the DOH-10 shall ensure the compliance of all parties of the MAP, as provided for in the guidelines, issue a guarantee letter to JR Borja General Hospital for eligible patients through its Public Information and Assistance Desk (PIAD), among others. The MOA provides that the JR Borja General Hospital shall facilitate the implementation of approved medical assistance to eligible patients, ensure the availability of medicines, medical supplies, and other health care services needed by the eligible patients and in the event of non-availability of those medicines, medical supplies, and other health care services, it may enter into contract with DOH-10 accredited health care providers (like hospitals, pharmacies) within its area to provide the same to the eligible beneficiaries, secure post audit review from the COA over any and all transactions related to the medical assistance and submit its findings thereof to DOH-10 immediately upon availability, among

others. Meanwhile, the city government shall ensure the availability of medicines, medical supplies, and other health care services needed at the hospital and its compliance of all reportorial responsibilities, and be jointly accountable with the JR Borja General Hospital for all accounts intended to be covered under the program which shall no longer be accommodated and funded by DOH10 by reason of the termination of the agreement. The MOA was reviewed and endorsed by the committees on health, sanitation and health insurance chaired by Councilor Maria Lourdes Gaane and on laws and rules chaired by Councilor Ian Mark Nacaya.
