4 injured in Iligan blast
ILIGAN CITY – Three females and one male were injured in an explosion occurred at around 6:45 p.m. at the Freedom Park, Poblacion, Iligan City, 07 December 2016.
Injured were immediately brought to the Dr. Uy Hospital, nearest hospital from the blast site, underwent medical treatment, and declared in stable condition. Police Senior Superintendent Leony Roy G. Ga, city director, Iligan City Police Office (ICPO), said only two of the wounded victims, who were transferred to the City Hospital, a government-owned, were advised for admission. The other two were released. The city director has coordinated with the local government for a possible assistance to the victims. In a report from the post blast investigation team, it has recovered at the blast site a safety lever of grenade, metal fragments and soil deposit from site of explosion, which is in front of the Police Station 5. Fragments were brought to the crime laboratory for examination to determine the type of grenade thrown. PSSupt Ga said one witness is already identified and now under custody of the police. Initial investigation disclosed that a man wearing black bonnet and jacket allegedly threw a grenade in the area and run towards Roosevelt St. Investigation personnel now conduct follow up to establishment with CCTV camera for possible identification of suspect/s, Ga added. Further, operatives were dispatched to gather information for the identification of suspects. A Special Investigating Taskforce Group
was also created. Meanwhile, police authorities identified those injured: Laureto Carabantes Alla, Jr, 26 years old, of Purok 5, Barangay Santiago, who was hit at back of head, while waiting for a jeepney in going home; Cristine Mercaderos Perocho, 20, of Maria Cristina, student of Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT), hit at left arm; Cherryl Paquit Matugas, 26, Caugmaran, Suarez, sustained three wounds at left and right shoulder, and one at right side of the neck; and Sheilamae Maagad Asibal, 23, of Poblacion, sustained one wound at her left temporal. The victims were all from Iligan City, and suffered minor injuries as declared by attending physicians in the hospital. The city director has ordered all ICPO units to deploy their personnel to identified areas of convergence to prevent similar incident. Checkpoints have been strictly implemented 24/7 in the entrance of the city particularly at the area of Police Station 2, in Nunucan going western part, PSSupt Ga disclosed. ARMM cited most improved region in peace and order, financial administration MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur– The Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) has been cited as the most improved region in terms of peace and order as well as financial administration. The award was given on December 6 by the Bureau of Local Government Supervision (BLGS), headed by Director Manny Gotis, in a ceremony held in Makati City. BLGS operates under the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG). In the awarding ceremony, the ARMM was cited as the most improved region in the areas of peace and order and financial administration. From being a zero passer in Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) in 2015, the region also scored six SGLG awardees this year, indicating significant improvement in local governance. The 2016 SGLG awardees in the ARMM are the province of Maguindanao, the city of Lamitan in Basilan, and the towns of North Upi and Parang in Maguindanao, Wao in Lanao del Sur, and Jolo in Sulu. ARMM Governor Mujiv Hataman said good governance practices should be emulated by other LGUs in the region. He urged the region’s LGUs to focus on improving their performances
and overall operations in order to the deliver services to their constituents. The DILG describes the SGLG, also known as ‘Pagkilala sa Katapatan at Kahusayan ng Pamahalaang Lokal,’ as the conferment of a seal to LGUs that adhere to performance criteria, namely, improvements on performance, accountability, transparency, and participation. These requirements encompass three core assessment areas: Good Financial Housekeeping, Social Protection and Disaster Preparedness, and at least one from the essential assessment areas, namely, BusinessFriendliness and Competitiveness, Peace and Order, or Environmental Management. 2016 jobfair, docufest held for Camiguingnons MAMBAJAO, Camiguin – The Department of Labor and Employment, in partnership with the Local Government Units (LGU) of Camiguin Province, through its PESO Federation conducted the 2016 Jobfair and Docufest services during the Lanzones Festival celebration held at Ugmad Site, Balbagaon, Mambajao town. DOLE-X Camiguin Provincial Field Office (Cam PFO) Officer-In-Charge Brix Merlin reported that some 14 local and overseas recruitment agencies and National Government Agencies (NGAs) gave their services to the Camiguingnons, which include Bright Star Placement Corp. with 50 vacancies; FVJ Overseas Manpower Agency (250); Joseline International Manpower Corporation (50); East West Placement Center Inc. (200); and Philippine Call Center Institute (500); Likewise, the Al Assal Manpower Inc. (800); Euroasia Philipphines Inc. (100); Great One International Placement Agency Inc. (232); Light and Hope (300); Starworld Int’l and Placement Agency (817); YMHD Int’l Manpower Inc. with 500 vacancies; GBMLT Manpower Services Inc. (150); Pacific Star Int’l Employment Agency Corp. (500); and Placewell International with 1,000 vacancies solicited. Department of Foreign Affairs, National Bureau of Investigation, Government Services Insurance
System, Social Security System, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, Philippine National Police, and the Home Development Mutual Fund were also present in the province to render their respective frontline services. Meanwhile, DOLE attached agencies like Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board, and Philippine Regulation Commission also provided their services especially to those applicants wanting to go abroad. Merlin also said that the Jobsfair and Docufest is an annual activity to facilitate gainful employment opportunities for the 892 Camiguingnons who availed the activity. In detail, 318 applicants were registered applicants for both local and overseas job vacancies.
