support services, like accommodation, and local food and non food products,” Gonzalez said. “When we bring in visitors, they will bring back something when they go home which means spending their money here so they will contribute to our economy,” she also said. “Dragon boat race is not only a sports, it is also a way of promoting environmental protection like cleaning up of seashores. This is also what we wanted it for,” also supports one of the organizers and consultant of the local paddlers’ team named Isla del Fuego, Bebot Tan. Race champion will receive Php8,000, first runner up, Php5,000 and second runner up, Php3,000. Registration fee for participating paddlers is Php400 that already includes event singlet, welcome dinner and school billeting. “Its not only about having fun but also an advocacy. We have team in Siquijor, the Isla del Fuego composed of fisherfolks who are residents of the province to serve as the hosts. We see to it that everybody will enjoy,” assures Tan. He said the event is called “Bugsay Alang sa Kalinaw” because aside from its advocacy for environment, it is also a representation of support of the island of Siquijor in unity for peace, as the event logo suggests. The event logo, Tan said, is a sign of peace commitment of six towns (Enrique Villanueva, Maria, Larena, Lazi, San Juan and Siquijor) with the prominent molave tree and fireflies to show how Siquijor started. The logo, explains Tan, have six paddlers representing the strength of the six towns of Siquijor. The six waves interlink into a handshake are the six islands committed to unite for the support of peace. The rounded shape symbolizes the unending commitment for peace. “We want to show to the world that the island really unite for peace. We paddle for peace,” he said. (rac/PIA7-Siquijor/

He noted that incidents had reached far flung areas as they have also entertained complaints from individuals, and not just those who go to their office to complain. In an advisory, NTC urged the public who are victims of text scams to immediately

inform NTC of the cellphone number used for text scam so that NTC will forward it to concerned Telecommunications Network for the number to be blocked.

Ang “Focused Inspection (FI) on the Downstream Oil Industry” napahigayon ubos sa pagpaningkamot sa mga Local Government Units (LGUs), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Philippine Information

Agency (PIA), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) ug Philippine National Police (PNP).
