Siquijor Congressman says ASEAN will boost province’s revenue, tourism SIQUIJOR (PIA) – Siquijor lone district representative, Congressman Ramon Vicente Antonio “Rav” Rocamora recently lauded the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) for providing the people of Siquijor with crucial information on the Association of SouthEast Asean Nations (ASEAN). In his message during the launching of the PIA information kiosk at the Passenger Terminal Building at the sea port of Larena, Siquijor, Cong. Rocamora said that with efforts to further strengthen regional cooperation, the Philippines is poised to reap the benefits of integration. “For Siquijor province, the immediate impact of a stronger ASEAN is a boost in revenue and investment in tourism,”he said. He also said he is confident that this potential will be realized especially with the continued economic growth that our country is experiencing. Citing the Philippines as currently the chair of the regional body through President Rodrigo Duterte., he said it is important that the public is aware of the huge impact that the ASEAN has on our country. “I hope that more initiatives such as this which improve our contituent’s access to significant information on services and policy will continue,” he added. The Information Kiosk in Larena is the the second in Siquijor and the 10th being launched in Central Visayas. The first kiosk for the province was set up and launched in April at the Passenger Terminal Building at the sea port of Siquijor, Siquijor. The Information Kiosks contain information, education and communication materials on ASEAN, Freedom of Information (FOI), tourism and public safety brochures and flyers and other programs and services of

They also serve as the venue for the national agencies and the local government units to inform the public of their various platforms, programs and projects for the people through the information education materials provided.
The Kiosks in Siquijor province are established through a collaborative effort of the local government units (LGUs) and the information officers of the different local and national government offices composing the Siquijor Association of Information Disseminators (SAID), particularly the Philippine Ports Authority where the two kiosks are installed.

DOLE releases P3M livelihood grant
SIQUIJOR (PIA) -- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has released a total of P3,022,207 to three associations in Siquijor town and two in Maria town. The beneficiaries are Luyang Fisher folks Association (LUFA) with P1,003,660 for marine sanctuary tour and diving devices; Tacloban Women’s Organization with P217, 025 for a handicraft making project; and Fatima Community Credit Cooperative (FCCC) of Caticugan, a DOLE Accredited Copartner (ACP), with P1,099,250. The fund downloaded to the FCCC is distributed to three associations; these are the FCCC with P316, 300 for the establishment of fish cages, the Municipality of Siquijor Sewers Association (MOSSA) for garments, home and souvenir items production with P228,950, and P554,000 worth of livelihood starter kits (LSK) to 73 carpenters in the province. Total financial grants released to Siquijor town is at P2,319,935. DOLE Regional Director Elias Cayanong personally turned over the materials and checks to said associations during the turn-over ceremony held recently at the Guiwanon Spring and Mangrove Park, Luyang Siquijor, Siquijor. Cayanong urged the associations to take good care of the materials and funds of the associations and encouraged the members to always support each other for the sustainability of the association. He said the grant can help alleviate the economic status of the members in every association. In a separate event, two associations of Maria also received a total of P702,272.30. They are the Maria Habalhabal and Tricycle Drivers Association (MAHATDA) with P499,922.30 for the acquisition of supplies and materials
