DepEd official imparts value of teamwork to Siquijor cops by Rizalie Anding Calibo & Everlita Calibo
SIQUIJOR (PIA) -- An official from the Department of Education (DepEd) here emphasized the value of teamwork in minimizing, if not totally eradicating criminality. “ONE is better than one,” said Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Edmark Ian Cabio of DepEd Siquijor to the Siquijodnon police. “One team is better than one person, which means that it is when a group of people working as a team, when magic happens,” said Cabio while sharing the huge lesson of the movie “Avengers” that showed the value of teams and teamwork. Noting the challenges that the PNP is facing, Cabio said that with the more than 108,358,270 Filipinos living in the Philippines, the men and women in uniform are undoubtedly outnumbered no matter how steadfast or expert they may be. “We are part of a team. A truly cohesive unit that functions with a single purpose can accomplish wonders,” he said. He said crime prevention should be everybody’s business. “It should play an important role in our daily routine and therefore should be t the top priority of everyone’s agenda, not just the PNP,” he added. The entire community, Cabio added, is affected by crime and therefore it needs to be involved in the solution. “All should share efforts in achieving the highest possiblity of a crimeless society by bringing each other’s strength, expertise and values to achieve what we want to achieve,”
Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Edmark Ian Cabio of the Department Education (DepEd) Siquijor giving his message during the Siquijor Police Provincial Office (SPPO) kick-off ceremony for the 25th National Crime Prevention Week (NCPW). NCPW is observed every first week of September in pursuant to Proclamation No. 461 signed on August 31, 1994 by former President Fidel V. Ramos. This year’s celebration has the theme: “Buhay Pahalagahan Komunidad Magtulungan, Krimen Hadlangan” which focuses on crime prevention strategies and promoting
community safety that could contribute to sustainable development and enhance the quality of life of all the citizens. It also promotes community partnership with both non-government and government organizations which shall emphasize on the need for collaboration and cooperation of all sectors of the community and society in the fight against criminality and preventing victimization.
