CSC warns public against review centers, mobile app

The Civil Service Commission (CSC) clarified that it does not endorse or accredit any review center offering classes to examinees nor has it developed a downloadable mobile review application. The warning came in light of social media offers and outdoor advertisements offering review classes for career service (CS) exams. The CSC reiterates that review centers claiming to have been accredited are not in any way connected with CSC, adding that availing of review classes will be at one’s own risk as it is not a guarantee of passing the CS exams. As the CSC began accepting applications for the March 18, 2018 Career Service Examination-Pen and Paper Test (CSE-PPT), it warned the public anew against institutions offering review classes or selling of reviewers or similar materials for the CS professional and sub-professional examinations. Meanwhile, individuals interested to take the CS exams are encouraged to file their applications early. Acceptance of application is on a first-come, first-served basis and shall be closed any time before January 31, 2018 if the CSC Regional/Field Office has already reached the target number of applicants. The CS examinations Professional and SubProfessional levels are open to

Filipino citizens, regardless of educational attainment, who are at least 18 years old at the time of filing of application, and have not taken the same level of examination within three months before the date of examination. Interested applicants must complete the following requirements: (1) Properly accomplished Application Form (CS Form No. 100, Revised September 2016, available at any CSC Regional/Field Office, and downloadable from the CSC website www. csc.gov.ph); (2) Four pieces of recently taken (not more than three months ago) passport sized (4.5 cm x 3.5 cm) I.D. pictures in white background, showing the applicant’s bare face (without eye glasses or any accessory that may cover facial features), and with hand-held and written name tag legibly showing the applicant’s signature over printed full name; (3) Original and photocopy of any of the following I.D. cards which must be valid (not expired): Driver’s License, Passport, PRC License, SSS I.D., GSIS I.D. (UMID), current Company/Office I.D., current School I.D., Postal I.D., BIR I.D., PhilHealth I.D., Barangay I.D., Voter’s I.D., Police Clearance/Police Clearance Certificate, or NBI Clearance; and (4) If the I.D. card has no indicated date of birth, original and photocopy of birth certificate issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority

(formerly National Statistics Office), or the Local Civil Registry printed on security paper. The CSC stressed that applicants must personally submit their applications at the CSC Regional Office (CSC RO), or at any of the CSC RO’s Field Offices, where they intend to take the examination. Examination fee for both levels of examination is P500. (CSC)

DOH creates task forse on Dengvaxia

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III on Friday, December 8, announced that the Department of Health (DOH) has created a task force to closely monitor and attend to the health of Dengvaxia recipients.

“We, at the Department of Health, have created a task force for the

management of concerns related to the school-based immunization initiative using the dengue vaccine,” Duque said in a press briefing in Malacanang.
The task force is composed of top management officials of the DOH Central Office, as well as concerned regional offices, and attached agencies

Harry Roque said that the government’s antiillegal drugs campaign has been successful despite the criticisms it has received. In a recent press conference in Cebu, Roque stressed that the number of drug personalities arrested in the government’s antiillegal drugs campaign has now reached up to a thousand. “There is a survey that 88% of the Filipinos support the drug war,” Roque noted. “In fact other countries now look to us as model. Just a few days ago, Pres. Trump declared his own version of war against drugs, and other ASEAN countries are also sending

Roque stressed that the success of the government’s campaign against drugs should not be underestimated. He added that it is only under Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s administration that the campaign against illegal drugs has been given priority. “Take note that this is the first time that we have raised a campaign at this magnitude,” he said. such as the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), and the National Children’s Hospital.

The task force will conduct a thorough review of the dengue vaccination program which started in March 2016. About 800,000 students received the vaccination.

The task force will also oversee an in-depth evaluation of the new evidence on safety provided by the vaccine manufacturer. “This shall guide the Department of Health in responding to the safety concerns relevant to the use of this vaccine and how to proceed with the dengue program to ensure safeguards and prevent similar incidents in the future,” Duque said.

A legal team will assist the task force to look into the accountability of Sanofi Pasteur, the manufacturer which initially claimed the vaccine was safe and effective.

But later on, Sanofi Pasteur acknowledged that the vaccine is not recommended for people who have had no prior dengue infection as the vaccination will increase the risk of severe dengue.

“We will demand the refund of the three billion paid for the Dengvaxia, and that Sanofi set up an indemnification fund to cover the hospitalization and medical treatment for all children who might have severe dengue,” Duque declared.

In the same press briefing, the Health Secretary also announced that PhilHealth is ready to shoulder the expenses of any child who will be hospitalized for severe dengue.

“PhilHealth’s dengue case rate can cover up to 16,000 for severe dengue, which includes hospitals and physician fees as well as hospital --other hospital support interventions in the management of the dengue cases, “ Secretary Duque said. PCO-

salary niini o may dugang nga 34.1 percent increase. (ecb/PIA7-Bohol)

(fcc/ PIA7-Cebu)
