LGU Larena, headed by now outgoing Mayor Dean S. Villa, also received two seals and a plaque of recognition from the Department of Interior and Local Government on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, months after passing the ADAC performance audit for CY 2019 and 2020.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government presented to the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Enrique Villanueva a Plaque of Recognition for its high functionality score for ADAC Audit 2019 and 2020. The PDEA Provincial office also awarded to Enrique Villanueva the Resolution for a Drug-cleared municipality during the Joint MPOC and MADAC 2nd Quarter meeting on June 16, 2022. The Awards and accomplishments include: High Functionality Points for ADAC Audit 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021, Top 5 Best Performing ADAC garnering 100% POC Audit result for 2019 EV receives numerous awards and 2020, and 100.67% for 2021; as Drug-Cleared Municipality; and and soon to receive the Balangay Award from PDEA. Outgoing Mayor Gerold Pal-ing said the award and accomplishments will never be possible without the combined efforts of the 14 barangays inthe municipality, the PNP, BFP, PDEA, DILG, members of the MPOC and MADAC, and the municipal mayor’s office as its secretariat. The DILG assessment criteria used “benchmarks and a scaling system in measuring the LGUs’ results and performance, consistent with national standards, averages or targets.” (RAC) -oo0oo--oo0ooThe Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-7), in partnership with LGU Larena, distributed Nego-Karts to 21 identified vendors in Larena recently at the Queengate Center. (RAC) -oo0oo--oo0ooThe Nego-Kart or “Negosyo sa Kariton” is a project under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) to help ambulant vendors in making their livelihood undertakings grow into profitable and sustainable business. Aside from the vending carts, the beneficiaries also received accompanying tools and accessories such as gas stoves, LPG tanks, LPG regulators, glass displays, aprons, hair nets, face masks and gloves that would help them start any food business of their choice.

Villa, has been a recipient of DILG’s Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance, an award that is given to LGUs with exemplary performance in delivering childfriendly local policies, programs, and services.

The Social Security System (SSS) conducted on June 16, their Race Against Contribution Evaders (RACE) Campaign in Siquijor where they visited at least five establishments in Siquijor and one in Larena -oo0oo-town.-oo0oo-

The RACE campaign has been implemented nationwide to exact the continuous compliance of delinquent employers with their statutory obligations under Republic Act No. 11199 or the Social Security Act of 2018, ensure the social security coverage of members, and enhance SSS’ collection efficiency. Under RA No. 11199, an employer who fails or refuses to register their employees, deduct contributions from them, and/or fails to remit the same, including the employer’s share to the SSS, will be penalized by a fine of P5,000 to P20,000, and/or be imprisoned for six years and one day to 12 years, at the discretion of the court.During the operations, the SSS team from Cebu and Bacolod, led by Senior Vice President for SSS Visayas Operations Group Helen Solito; Vice President, Visayas West 1 Division for Negros Island and Siquijor Province Lilani Benedian, M.D.; and Atty. Ma. Conchita Antipatia of the Operations Legal Department, VW1 Division SSS Bacolod explained what RACE is about and offered options for the non-compliant employers to settle their delinquencies with an aggregate amount of P3.3 million in delinquency. They urged delinquent employers to fulfill their obligations under the Social Security Law as partners in providing meaningful social security protection to the private sector workers. All employers subjected to RACE received a show cause order which they have to respond to within 15 days from the receipt of the notice through availment of the Enhanced Installment Payment Program or the Pandemic Relief and Restructuring Program (PRRP) 3. It offers more flexible payment terms, ranging from nine to 60 months. The program will run until Nov. 22, 2022. “To avoid violations or noncompliance to the SS Law, employers should maintain true and accurate work records of their employees, which include employment records, official receipts for payments of monthly contributions, and loan amortizations,” Solito said. Benedian, on the other hand, encouraged members to regularly monitor their SSS records which can now be easily accessed online by creating a My.SSS account at “Throughwww.sss.gov.ph.theMy.SSS Portal, members can easily verify their contribution and loan payments, apply for salary and calamity loan, and file benefit claims online like sickness, maternity, unemployment benefit, retirement, and funeral at their convenience. Those who need technical assistance with their online registration and benefit/loan application may visit the E-Center of the nearest SSS branch. In accordance with the quick survey on rice farmer’s response to the rising prices of fertilizers and fuel, 60 rice farmers from the Province of Siquijor were randomly selected to participate in the said survey initiated by the Philippine Rice Research Institute of the Department of Agriculture.Sixbarangays, three rainfed and three irrigated rice areas, with the most number of farmers were identified as survey environment.Thirtyrice farmers from the barangays of Cang-apa, Basac, and Catamboan in the Municipality of Larena were selected as respondents for the rainfed area and thirty rice farmers from barangays Catamboan, Gabayan, and Capalasanan in the Municipality of Lazi as respondents for the irrigated area.
