Stanton Heights isn’t called a Pittsburgh hidden gem for nothing. Where else can you watch Pittsburgh’s amazing wildlife from your backyard and then travel 10 minutes downtown to experience the cultural district’s, awardwinning restaurants, and shows? The answer is nowhere. Stanton Heights is so quiet that you forget you are only three miles outside a bustling city. I don’t know how many times that I’ve been ready to watch a Steelers, Pirates or Pens game on the couch and received a call from friends about available tickets and was literally at the game within 20 minutes. Talk about couch to stadium seating! Stanton Heights is within walking distance to Lawrenceville and close to the Strip District, Shadyside, Highland Park and the Pittsburgh Zoo. And highways 279, 79, 28 and 76 are easily accessible from here. While location is important, it’s the people that make Stanton Heights so appealing. Residents of Stanton Heights are some of the warmest people that I’ve ever known. Everyone is quick to help a neighbor in need and it’s a welcoming neighborhood for all. If Pittsburgh needed a city to define who and what it’s all about, Stanton Heights would be my choice to represent. I bought my house in Stanton Heights 16 years ago and to this day, I still believe that it was one of the best decisions of my life. — Troy Detter, Local Resident and Neighbor
