Local Impact Grants Reach Impactful Milestone: $500,000 As the link connecting Pi Beta Phi’s Read > Lead > Achieve® initiatives, financial support for The Literacy Fund and local literacy work done by clubs and chapters, the Local Impact Grants program gives Pi Phis an opportunity to advocate for literacy first-hand and strengthen the future of their own communities. During the fourth quarter of 2018, the program reached an important milestone. Since its launch in 2013, Pi Phis have provided more than half a million dollars in Local Impact Grants to nonprofit organizations across North America. As chapters and clubs fundraise for The Literacy Fund, the program gives them the opportunity to nominate 25% of their gifts to a local nonprofit with a program or focus on literacy. Pi Phi matches that 25%, dollar for dollar. “By nominating local organizations to receive grants, our members are growing and expanding Pi Phi’s impact in innovative ways, and truly moving the needle toward reducing the illiteracy issues so prevalent in our society,” said BETSY WEST MCCUNE, Missouri Alpha, Director of Operations and Programs.
