An Evening with Don Theo Paredes Thursday April 2, 2015 7:00PM At a Private Residence in Sisters Theo Paredes is a Peruvian Shaman fluent in Spanish, English and Quechua with a Doctorate of Anthropology from Sarah Lawrence College. As an anthropologist, Paredes carries a long list of credentials, including high government positions in the field As early as age 10, Paredes was drawn to native healing arts as well as the magic world. "We are very rich in myths," he says, describing the kind of stories to which a young boy is attracted. For instance, "the ancient people from here, they were able to make a channel in a big mountain in one night because they were able to order the big mountains to move themselves from one place to another. So when you are 10 years old, you live in these two worlds -- one of the Fantasy and one of the Reality. In his later years, Theo survived two lightning strikes, considered the mark of a healer in native tradition. “My world was very rich in magic in general." . . . . . . .
