to play TAMSK: SetUp 1. Place the red and black hourglasses on the 6 corner spaces of the board, so that the hourglasses of both players alternate: black, red, black, red, black, red. The upper parts of the hourglasses must be empty at the start of a game. 2. Each player should take a ring holder filled with 32 rings. Aim You or your opponent start the game with 32 rings each. The player with the fewest rings left at the end of the game is the winner. Gameplay 1. Start Red moves first. 2. A Move Each turn you must move one of your hourglasses. You may move it to any adjacent vacant space. The first moves of any game must be used to move each of your 3 hourglasses. Thus, after you and your opponent have made 3 moves each, the time of all 6 hourglasses on the board will be running, 3. Dropping a ring After moving an hourglass you may play one ring: take a ring from your ringholder, put it over the hourglass you moved and then drop it. (for the remainder of the game, the ring you dropped will serve
as an indication that the space has been visited previously.) Note: playing a ring is optional, but since getting rid of rings is the aim of the game, you should do it (or rather: don’t forget to do it). If, for any particular reason, you decide not to play a ring and your opponent notices, then he may play one of his rings where you didn’t, and he may still make his regular move. 4. The different spaces The spaces (tubes) on the board have different heights. Once the rings around a space are level with the height of the tube, that space may not be visited again for the remainder of the game. • 18 spaces around the edge of the board may only have 1 ring. • The next tier of 12 spaces may have a maximum of 2 rings. • The inner tier of 6 spaces may have a maximum of 3 rings. the central space may have 4 rings. Note: you may never move an hourglass to a space which already has its maximum number of rings. If you do, you lose the game at once. So, watch the rings on the board carefully. 5. Timing of a move Immediately after you have moved one of your hourglasses, your opponent may start his move. In other words, he does not need to wait until you have dropped your ring. But as soon as he moves an hourglass, he may not play an extra ring if you didn’t play one. 6. The 15second rule The 15second hourglass (grey) is available to you during your opponent’s turn, but you are not obliged to use it. You may use it (i.e. turn it over) if you want to force your opponent to make his move within 15 seconds. Of course, your opponent may also use it to when it is your turn. 7. Using the timer To use the 15second timer, simply turn it over; however you may only do so when the hourglass runs out. So, occasionally, you may have to wait until it runs out of time before you can use it against your opponent. Note: when you have used the 15second timer against your
opponent, it is your turn again as soon as he has made his move; you do not have to wait until the 15second timer is empty. 8. Penalty If the 15second timer runs out before you complete your move you forfeit that turn. You also have to face a penalty. Your opponent may now drop two rings with his next turn. He starts his turn with his regular (i.e. he moves an hourglass and puts a ring in the newly covered space), and next he may drop a second ring in any space on the board, no matter whether the space is occupied by an hourglass or not. Of course, he may only drop a ring in a space that has not yet reached its maximum number of rings. 9. Losing an hourglass When an hourglass runs out of time, it is dead. A dead hourglass remains on the board but may not be moved any more. Note: you may let an hourglass die on purpose. 10. Being Trapped When you cannot move any of your hourglasses (because all three are blocked by you opponent’s hourglasses and/or spaces you may not move to any more), you must pass your turn. You must continue to pass until you are able to move againor until the game ends. Note: Passing a turn because you cannot move is not the same as running out of time and passing a turn. There is no penalty if you cannot make any move. 11. The End The game ends when no more moves can be made. The player with the fewest rings left wins the game. Most of the time this means that the first player who has to pass loses because he cannot move his hourglasses anymore. So, the aim is to get rid of rings, but it could also be said that the aim is to be the first to block all three of the opponent’s hourglasses. If both players have an equal number of rings lift, the time will determine the winner: •Remove the hourglasses that have already run out of time from
the board and put them aside. •Watch the remaining hourglasses closely. Each hourglass that runs out of time is to be taken front the board, and lined up in the order removed. •The player with the last “living” hourglass on the board wins the game. •In the rare case that the last hourglass of both players runs out of time at exactly the same time, then the player who had the second to last hourglass on the board wins.
When finished playing please leave the game in its final state; do not reset any of the pieces.
a 100 x 100 Hanjie puzzle when solved makes an image of a distressed couple Hanjie, also known as Nonograms or Picross, are picture logic puzzles in which cells in a grid must be colored in or left blank according to numbers at the side of the grid in order to reveal a hidden picture. In this puzzle type, the numbers are a form of discrete tomography that measures how many unbroken lines of filledin squares there are in any given row or column. Nonograms have no theoretical limits on size and are not restricted to square layouts. To solve a puzzle, one needs to determine which cells will be boxes and which will be empty. Determining which cells are to be left empty (called spaces) is as important as determining which to fill (called boxes). It is also important never to guess. Only cells that can be determined by logic should be filled. If one guesses, a single error can spread over the entire field and completely ruin the solution. It usually comes to the surface only after a while, when it is very difficult to correct the puzzle. Usually, only advanced and experienced solvers are able to fix it completely and finish such ruined puzzles. The hidden picture plays no part in the solving process. Even if it is obvious from the picture that a cell will be a box, it is usually treacherous to assume. The picture, however, may help find and eliminate an error. A list of solution techniques: Forcing, Glue, Joining & Splitting, Punctuating, Mercury, Contradictions, Deep Recursion. Other Picture Logic Puzzles : Pentomino PaintByNumbers, Triddlers, Paint by Pairs or LinkaPix, FillaPix, MazeaPix, Tile Paint.

"I am obsessed with grids. I have begun to see grids everywhere. People, things, places, all just become different patterns. A grid is there even when its not obvious the constraints are there. The contents of any thing or situation are just data really, just some set of qualities which can be removed, explained, and set to the exterior. Thats the beautiful thing about Hanjie all the information to produce the image is already present but just as abstract data outside of the picture space. All that needs to happen is for a Hanjie player to complete the puzzle. Someone like me. The pattern is already contained in its exterior sequence. The pattern can be anything because it produces a picture at a specific resolution. I have seen it unfold into hundreds of images. spike, girl, puppy, robot, ostrich, computer, key, cocktail, Doorwo men, boat, kettle, deer, tennis lover, pommel, mother, telescope, coffee, fur seal, ski jumping, beetle, mushroom, camera, halloween, crab, sandglass, cow, snowman, snail, panda, note, scissors, ghost, Pikachu, nap, peach, lamb, cock, GateBall, peko, swan, Lover, eg gplant, hurricane, crescent, cherry, fishing, Qom, senior, breath, cock, fish, Chihiro, spider, blouse, smile, magic lamp, Chunli, lizard, waltz, vacuum, bee, mantis, ele, snowflake all of the puzzles i do are pictures of things. these are just some of the Hanjie puzzles I have solved. The memorable ones."
Going on a walk is the same as solving a puzzle. You know the end, you simply have to navigate the way there. Steps are the same as spaces on a grid. I don't see that distinct of a difference, between walking and Hanjie. See walking in its own way is a bit of a grid, it’s structural at least. The average step size is said to be 30 inches. People solve problems with walking. You can end up with different things after a walk, a bag of groceries, a thought.
I wake up, get out of bed, and walk to the kitchen. I walk from the kitchen back to my room and turn on my computer. I walk from my room into the shower. I walk from the shower into my room. I walk to my car. I walk from my car into my studio. I walk from my desk at the studio to the couch. I lay on the couch and solve 8 different Hanjie puzzles on the Hanjie app on my phone. Their solutions make these images: bomb, snail, tulip, banana, punching man, coffee, vacuum, bee. I walk from the studio to lunch. I walk from the restaurant back to my studio. After some time I walk to my car. I walk to the kiosk and the meeting place for the special garden walking tour. I walk the tour in a group through the garden and back to the kiosk. I walk from the kiosk back to my car. I leave my car and walk through the parking lot at IKEA. I walk through the layout of IKEA. I walk from IKEA back to my car. I walk from my car into my studio and back unloading tables from IKEA. I walk back to the car and get in. I exit the car and to my house. I walk to the kitchen and make dinner. I walk down the hall into my room and log on to my computer. I walk from the computer to the bathroom and back. I walk from my computer to the bathroom again and prepare for bed. I walk from the bathroom to my bed and sleep.

A walk is a series of footsteps in seemingly endless succession
the sun revolves around the earth in seemingly endless succession
simple questions about night and day Why do we have day and night? We have day and night because the Earth rotates. It spins on its axis, which is an imaginary line passing through the North and South Poles. The Earth spins slowly all the time, but we don't feel any movement because it turns smoothly and at the same speed. How long does it take the Earth to turn around? The Earth takes a whole day (24 hours) to make a complete turn. Why is the Sun in the sky at some times and not at other times? At any time half of the Earth faces the sun. This part has day. The other half of the Earth faces away from the Sun. It receives no light. It is dark and has night. The sun is the source of light for day. Why does the sun seem to move across the sky? The Sun does not move. It seems to move across the sky starting in the east in the morning, moving toward the south at noon, and then toward the west as the day ends. It is the Earth turning that makes it seem as though the Sun is moving. It takes about a second to walk a step doesn't it?
I take comfort in playing free cell. It is a perfect brake from the everyday grind. I used to smoke, three packs a day, whining about wanting to quit even as I sucked tobacco onto my chapped lips, shivering outside in 40 below (aka "where Celsius meets Fahrenheit"). But now I just play Free Cell. I made a list of its benefits. 1. Pattern recognition skills. 2. Patience. 3. Going with the flow. 4. The value of being systematic. 5. Look before I click. 6. The value of the "undo" option. 7. Thinking outside the box. 8. Accepting that losses are part of the game, and we live to play another day. 9. Not quitting.
Responses AnniThyme : hi my name is anni, and i'm an addict to ... spider solitaire Serial Insomniac : right there with you. i identify with every lesson. i amaze myself with my ability to see many moves ahead in Freecell when i am unable to do so in any other game. i am currently in the process of playing 1000 games and looking at my percentage of wins to uh, losses... Michelle Fergenson : oh, so funny brian. watch out for carpel tunnel syndrome. Theodora L'Engle Knight : i play just plain solitaire, constantly. shit, now im going to have to try Freecell. i love your list. it's a great set of parameters for life, especially the not quitting part. no quitting until it is over... but of course you can quit... any time you want to... love love love and gratitude. fireeyes24 : you are so right about Freecell being addictive.. i could sit for hours playing it and not get a damn thing done.
if you are looking for a way to play free cell with your Wii then it is a good idea to install homebrew. i guess that installing homebrew is maybe illegal, and sorta like hacking which im pretty sure is also illegal, but i dont really know any other way to play free cell without hacking it or whatever it is called. my friend told me that there is some way to play full games for free too with homebrew and that isnt what i want to do and that really seems illegal and i was just trying to play free cell and thats it and if you want to play free cell but not play illegal games than it is probably okay to hack it so you can have homebrew just google it and you can find instructions.
my friends daughter was in the hospital with H1N1. We bought Stone Age a beautiful and complex game for her to play. She played from her hospital bed. Stone Age's game mechanic focuses on Dice Rolling, Set Collection and Worker Placement. Both times when I had my surgeries someone brought me my favorite tabletop game so this whole ordeal made me feel good and brought my mind back to those surgeries. my friend took a photo of his daughter playing which had very beautiful colors in it. The photo really made the hospital room seem like a palace. Zack Stackurski said about the photo "I hope she's feeling better (or will be soon!)." Steve Holden said, "Awesome picture, I love it."
TAMSK (earth) Components: Sturdy pieces. Sand timers can tip a bit precariously at times, but I've yet to see them actually topple. The board is certainly interesting looking, but not as pretty to behold as that of DVONN. Experience: Lots of fun. Interesting options arise, requiring very quick choices, as one tries to reduce the options of one's opponent while keeping one's own options numerous. It is an ingenious mechanism to have each pawn be a living timer, and to have the board spaces have different capacities. I find the game super stressful and mentally exhausting, but it's worth it. GIPF series rank: 4 of 7. First Played: 20050209 Last Played: 20120103 Eagerness to Play Again: Within a year Plays (17)
First time I played I could not wait to play again ... but after I did play again I lost any desire for it. An interesting, novel game but strange somehowas if a group of designers were locked in a room and told they were not allowed out until they had designed an innovative two player abstract strategy game. With the time though.. I find it creepy attached to the mechanism driving my life forward. Never felt that way about a game before. But also, when I began to find it boring, I was not able to put the game away.
Time doesn’t fly Time runs away You think it’ll stay, but it leaves It all feels so aimless And I don’t know Why time goes so fast through the hourglass So then we miss things In our not so distant past If time took forever Would we get bored of each other And I guess memories make us happy Like a hug, as you’re being pulled away
75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger. Even mild dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 30%. One glass of water shuts down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters who participated in a UWashington study. Lack of water is the number one trigger of daytime fatigue. Preliminary research indicates that 810 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy shortterm memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45% plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer. Are you drinking a healthy amount of water each day?
