INSTALLED INstalled is a national programme that seeks to extend across the country the successful Stalled Spaces initiative being run by Glasgow City Council (GCC). The scheme sees local authorities acting as a brokers between communities and landowners to bring vacant and derelict land back into temporary use for the common good. We have been working with GCC and the Scottish Government to do further research into regenerating stalled sites, producing keynote events to celebrate the initiative and create an INstalled identity that gives a coherent language to the series of projects which will take place on different sites.

Working with the GYFF and GFF to produce a temporary cinema for the Glasgow Youth Film Festival in February 2013. It is proposed that the cinema will be developed in collaboration with the Youth team.
INSTALLED : GIRL WALK // ALL DAY, GLASGOW Pidgin Perfect collaborated with Glasgow Youth Film Festival (GYFF) to produce a ‘pop up cinema’ on a site located on the embankment of the River Clyde as part of the 2013 GYFF programme, working with the GYFF Youth Team to co-ordinate and deliver small elements of project. The key aim of the project was to produce an interactive screening of ‘Girl Walk // All Day’, a 90 minute short film music video set in New York City. To do this, Pidgin Perfect worked with three dance organisations based in Glasgow. Working with Dance House to produce a flash mob like ‘Dance Walk’ which danced its way through the city from the Glasgow Film Theatre to the pop up cinema site gathering an public audience along the way and working with DanceHQ and 1 Blud Crew to choreograph an interactive dance routine to accompany the energy of Girl Walk // All Day and encourage audience participation. The dramatic transformation of the redundant and grey stalled space site into an inspiring and engaging performance theatre for one night only brought a new energy and audience to the site, changing the public perception of the purpose and potential uses of the site.

INSTALLED : GRAPHIC IDENTITY AND COMMUNICATION STRATEGY Pidgin Perfect are working with the Scottish Government and the designer Philip Blackie to create the INstalled identity which aims to give a coherent language to projects that will take place as part of the programme. Although these projects will exist independently, in both space and time, the repetition of this identity will unite them under the INstalled umbrella. In this respect the core identity utilises these changing components project, space and time. The nature of these sites make their location difficult to define. It is suggested that location is appropriated to each site - be that an address grid reference or other. There is also an opportunity to implement a site identification system, such as site numbers, specifically for Installed.

Development Hoarding Pattern
Installed ‘IN’ Logo
A pattern inspired by site hoardings has also been developed as a repetitive motif with the core identity overlaid to create distortion. Drawing on the aesthetic of installing vinyl onto a faceted surface; the identity adopts the form of the site hoardings. It is intended that this be replicated with vinyl onsite to adopt surface textures unique to each project space. Pidgin Pink has been appropriated into the identity to subtly tie the projects to the existing identity of Pidgin Perfect.
