(Begin!) establishes a strong base of judo technique, culture, and character Fun tumbling, jumping and running warm us up before we practice falling techniques: Hajime students learn to fall safely, effortlessly and without discomfort Judo allows a smaller person to control a bigger opponent . We learn to hold a person down with “kesa-gatame” (scarf hold) and we practice throws—where our opponent can be flipped upside down on Sensei Class finishes with games that develop physical coordination, balance and laughter We sing in Japanese about inspiration and bow to each other respectfully Respect and discipline are as much a part of Hanabi as smiling Participants will need to have a judo gi Instructor can supply them for $111

Pain is complex! Gratefully, scientists in fields from neuroscience to psychology are now unpacking the complexities of pain and revealing new strategies for relieving pain without drugs This workshop draws on those discoveries and marries them with yoga therapy . Each meeting starts with some pain-science education; it’s been found that understanding pain is an effective first-step in overcoming it Following that, we practice gentle movement with breath regulation and other yoga-based tools to empower you to change your pain, increase your mobility, and lift your overall sense of well being .
