When to register
Online registration for Piedmont residents begins on August 6 at 6:00 pm. Online registration for non-Piedmont residents begins on August 13 at 6:00 pm. Registration is required for all programs and activities . You are not considered registered until you have paid all fees and have received a confirmation

PRD occasionally takes photos of department programs that may include enrolled participants Photos taken during programs, events or activities may be used in future department promotional materials If you do not want your child’s photo used, please contact the Recreation Department

Facility Preservation Fee (FPF) f
For each sports program sign-up with a fee of $50 or higher, a surcharge will be added to the program fee, to be deposited into a dedicated fund for preservation and replacement of athletic facilities or maintenance
Observance of Religious Holidays
PRD understands and respects the diverse religious beliefs of our participants and their families We recognize there may be occasions when individuals are unable to attend a PRD program or class due to the observance of a religious holiday . To request a credit due to a non-attendance, please email prd@piedmont ca gov Request must be made in writing at least five (5) business days in advance of the first program meeting Requests received after this deadline may not be considered
Withdrawals
All withdrawal requests must be submitted to PRD via email (prdrefunds@piedmont ca .gov) or phone (510) 420-3070 during office hours, Monday–Friday, 8:30 am–5:00 pm (excluding City holidays)
A request made:
■ 10 Business Days or More prior to the start of the program will receive a full refund or credit to account
■ Within 5–10 Business Days prior to the start of the program may receive a refund to the original form of payments, minus the convenience fee (3% for credit cards, 1% for echecks) or credit to account For an account credit, the amount credited will also be less the convenience fee . However it will not be charged again when the credit is used for a future registration of equal or lesser value
■ Less than 5 Business Days prior to the start of the program may be considered on a case by case basis and only permissible if the original program is over the minimum enrollment required Request must be approved by the instructor and PRD Staff If approved a refund or credit to account minus a 10% Class Withdrawal Fee
■ Late Withdrawal Requests after the start of a program will not be issued unless there is an exceptional situation and it is approved by the instructor and PRD staff A 10% Class Withdrawal Fee will be charged, the prorated amount for any classes attended, and any additional fees (if applicable: non-resident fee, Facility Preservation Fee) Instructors will need to approve the return of any material fees

Schoolmates and Preschool Programs have separate refund policies.
Cancellations may occur if a class minimum is not reached We reserve the right to either postpone the beginning of the program, or cancel the program and issue refunds to the original form of payment
Missed Classes will not receive a refund or credit
Class Transfers requests 10 business days or more prior to the start of the class are reviewed by PRD Staff and are only permissible if the original program is over the minimum enrollment Transfer must be to a program of equal or greater cost Transfer requests after PRD withdrawal window are not allowed unless approved by PRD staff .
Inclement Weather or Poor Air Quality may cause recreation activities to be canceled If rescheduling is not an option, a credit will be issued at the end of the program session

School year classes are thoughtfully designed to address various special needs including but not limited to the facilities chosen and inclusive curricula Adaptive programs are modified to address the needs of neurodiverse students with a focus on providing enriching experiences

PRD is offering more recreational opportunities for children with neurodiverse needs! Checkout the variety of afterschool programs, from social groups to art to sports and more . Classes are designed to get kids moving, socializing and having fun with their peers! Our experienced instructors are each assisted by several Teen Sidekicks (ages 15+)

Katy Bradford Vosburg grew up dancing at a studio in the SF Bay Area where she studied jazz, ballet and tap and competed for many years In her early 20’s, Katy and her husband moved to Lusaka, Zambia where she became immersed in the dance culture and began teaching Zumba Within a year, a new type of dance fitness was formed by local friends and dance aficionado’s–Zambia’s Own Caribbean African dance- ZOCA which Katy began teaching in the capital city, Lusaka . Beyond Lusaka, Katy has taught dance fitness in San Mateo and recently in Hamilton, Montana She is certified as a dance fitness instructor Katy earned her Master’s degree in Public Health at UC Berkeley, is a Type One Diabetic, and a proud mother of three kids who attend Piedmont schools She cannot wait to dance with you in the Monday Mamas class!

2nd Thursday Flix Fest
ages 50+ free
The Piedmont Recreation Department presents 2nd Thursday Flix Fest The social group was created in collaboration with a group of movie buffs as a way to bring the community together, watch a movie and engage in conversation
Once a month, on the second Thursday, a different movie is thoughtfully chosen and shown at the 801 Magnolia Avenue, Piedmont Attendance is free and monthly attendance is optional!
The Flix Fest leadership group team took a movie survey to determine interest in adjusting the showtime to later in the afternoon and the community has spoken! Movies are now shown each month from 1:15–3:30 pm Doors open at 1:00 pm

We are seeking dedicated, fun and silly adults like you to join the Storytime Club and make a difference in the lives of children . All volunteers must complete a background check . No experience necessary, just a love for reading (wacky character voices are optional!)

PRD is looking for teen volunteers (16+) to teach technology to seniors one Wednesday each month . Teen Sidekicks are truly committed and enjoy working closely with special needs students, befriending them, supporting them in and activities and helping them successfully integrate into mainstream programs .
If you are interested in creating lasting memories and playing an integral role in supporting the growth and overall experience for a child with neurodiverse needs, contact Sidekicks This unique experience is unlike any other and incredibly rewarding Teen Sidekicks attend a training and are fully supported by PRD staff . Must be at least 14 years of age Flexible scheduling available . The Piedmont Recreation Department is seeking volunteer coaches for our recreational basketball league Your involvement is essential in providing our teams with the guidance and support they need for a fulfilling and enjoyable experience in the league Volunteers like you play a vital role in making this program a success
Your passion for the game and willingness to make a difference are highly valued Join us as we work together to create a positive and rewarding environment for our young athletes
In addition, we offer workshops and training to ensure that volunteer coaches have the necessary tools and support to be successful This additional support is designed to help coaches feel more confident in their roles and to better equip them to guide and develop young athletes
