Mrs. Clarice Haskins Adams, beloved wife of the late Patton C. Adams for fifty six years, died peacefully Tuesday evening, March 4, 2014 at Danville Regional Medical Center after a decline in health. Mrs. Adams was born in Pittsylvania County at Callands on May 24, 1925. She was the daughter of the Late Nannie and Coleman Haskins. She was educated at Callands High School and graduated in 1944. She attended Radford University and graduated in 1967 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. In 1979 she also graduated with a Master of Science Degree in Elementary Education. She was an Educator in the Pittsylvania County School System for over thirty five years. She retired from teaching in 1987. Clarice was a member of North Main Baptist Church where she was a member of the Joy Sunday School Class. Mrs. Adams is survived by a daughter, Lisa Adams Chislett and husband, Dean of Greensboro, N.C., two granddaughters, Amber Chislett Rockwood and husband, Daniel of Arlington, Alyssa Chislett of Charlotte, N.C., two sisters, Joyce Whitley of Danville, Mary Ripley of Richmond, three brothers, Dennis Haskins, Allen Haskins both of Callands, Johnie Haskins of Roanoke. Clarice was predeceased by three sisters, Macie Merricks, Fannie Merricks, Edith Haskins and one brother, Wade Haskins. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 pm Saturday, March 8, 2014 from Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel with the Reverend Fred Unger officiating. Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel is respectfully serving the Adams family.

It is with great sadness that the family of Herman Geno Lynch, 84, of Danville, Virginia, announces his passing. Herman “Geno” departed this life peacefully on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at Stratford Rehabilitation Center, with his wife by his side. His parents were Herman B. Lynch and Pearl Simpkins Lynch of Danville. His siblings are Sherman Edward Lynch, Geneva Maye Lynch

Goard, and Wayne Gerald Lynch, all of Danville. Left to cherish his memory are his wife and sweetheart of 61 years, Lottie Idell Keatts Lynch; his daughter, Patricia “Dale” Lynch Burns Mullins, along with her husband, Larry Mullins of Christiansburg, VA; daughter, Deborah Ellen Lynch, of Ringgold, VA; and son, Herman G. Lynch ,Jr., along with his wife, Wendy of Concord, NC; and grandchildren who will miss their Papa; Andrew J. Burns, attending Pharmacy School in Asheville, NC; Chelsea “Bunny” Lynch Johnston, along with her husband, Ashton M. Johnston of Matthews, NC; and Crystal “Kitty” Lynch Laidlaw, along with her husband, Joshua B. Laidlaw of Concord, NC. Geno was born and raised in Danville, graduated from Dan River High School, and worked for the City of Danville as a meter reader for four years. He worked 39 years in the United States Army, including 34 years in the Army National Guard. He served in combat in the 3rd Armored Division during the Korean Conflict. During his military time, he received numerous awards and medals, including the Purple Heart, a Combat Infantry Badge, and the Korean Service Medal, with three Bronze Camp Stars. Always modest and humble, with an unflagging moral compass, Geno was well known for impeccable honesty and integrity. In 1962, Geno was awarded a Citation presented by the Minister of Information of the Republic of Korea for an essay stating, “He has made a distinct contribution toward strengthening the will of the people of the Free World, as Korea, to fight Communist aggression at any cost”. He retired from the Virginia Army National Guard in 1989. After his “retirement”, he worked several years as a security guard for the Goodyear Tire & Rubber plant. Geno was a member of Moffett Memorial Baptist Church, and was a Deacon for some time. He was a kind and caring soul who touched countless lives. Everyone who came in contact with him made a lifelong friend. Geno will always be remembered as a loyal and loving husband and father. He was held in high regard by friends and loved dearly by his family. Geno has been in the kind and compassionate care of the doctors, nurses and staff at Stratford Rehabilitation Center for the past four years. We wish to extend our sincere thanks to all those who took such great care of our Father. You all treated him with such kindness and care, and we will always be grateful to you. Special thanks to his personal caregivers Cynthia Thornhill and Helen Ray.
