“Who Moved The Stone? Not everyone who has accepted Christ as his Savior did so because he was born into a Bible believing Christian home. In fact, many have come to Christ who were outright disbelievers. Most people know the name C.S. Lewis. When his name comes up, Aslan starts to roar in people’s minds. Lewis was the author of the great Chronicles of Narnia series, the most notable of which is The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Lewis was one of the greatest apologists of the Christian faith. He wrote many other books including Mere Christianity and The Screwtape Letters. What people often do not know is that Lewis, by his own admission, was “dragged kicking and screaming into the kingdom of God. Lewis did not believe that there was such a thing as God. For him, the great hindrance to believing in God was all of the evil and injustice in the world. But Lewis, a logical man, quickly ran into a mental conundrum. He realized that he was, by using terms like evil and injustice, proving that there was an absolute standard of right and wrong to measure all behavior against. He said,

“How was I to know that a stick was crooked if I had no straight stick to compare it against?â€? Another such man was Frank Morison, a journalist who lived from 1851 to 1950. He said, “When, as a very young man, I began to seriously study the life of Christ, , GLG VR ZLWK D YHU\ GHÂżQLWH feeling that, if I may so put it, His history rested upon very insecure foundations.â€? Morison believed that Jesus was a very good man, but certainly not, as the Bible claims, the resurrected Son of God. Journalistic pen in hand, he set out to write a book. He said that he wanted to write about the last phase of the life of Jesus, and “strip it of its overgrowth of primitive beliefs and dogmatic suppositions.â€? And yet, when the dust settled, he had to refer to this as “the book that refused to be written.â€? You see, after Morison did an incredibly careful study both of the Biblical text, and the outside evidence to support it, he came to an inescapable conclusion: He had been wrong. About everything. Morison did write his book, or rather, the book wrote itself as he examined the truth.

The title he chose for it shows how clearly the evidence swayed him from a non-believer into a believer. It is titled Who Moved The Stone? The man who had once been a skeptic now understood that the resurrection was real, Jesus was and is the Son of God, and the Bible record could be trusted. When you go to worship this Easter morning, understand that you are not focusing on a myth or a story. The evidence for the account of Christ; his death, his burial, and his resurrection, is utterly solid. A former violent, murderous skeptic named Saul of Tarsus later wrote in Romans 1:4 that Jesus was “declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead.â€? This man, who had nothing to gain and everything to lose, gave up a life of power and prestige for D OLIH RI VX̆HULQJ DOO EHFDXVH he actually met the resurrected Christ.

Happy Resurrection Morning!
