Karen Hutchens Shelton, 54, of Danville, VA, died suddenly on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Danville Regional Medical Center due to heart failure. Karen was born in Danville, VA, on June 30, 1961, a daughter of the late James William Hutchens and Willie Mae Johnson Hutchens. She lived her entire life in Danville, VA and was retired due to disability. She was of the baptist faith. On November 23, 1990 she married Mark Edward Shelton, who survives. In addition to her husband, of the residence, she is survived by a son, Tyler Ray Shelton, of Danville, VA; a daughter, Brianna Nicole Shelton, of Danville, VA; a sister, Kathy Wilson, and her husband Danny, of Danville, VA; and a brother, Randy Hutchens, of Burkeville, VA. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 7:00 PM from the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel with the Reverend Paul Parker officiating. Michael “Mickey” Everette Jenkins
Michael Everette “Mickey” Jenkins, 72, of 115 North Woodberry Avenue, Danville, VA, died Friday, September 18, 2015 at Danville Regional Medical Center after a decline in his health for the past eighteen months. Michael was born in Roanoke, VA, on April 21, 1943, a son of the late Ellis Gasper Jenkins and the late Teresa Crank Jenkins. He lived his early years in Rocky Mount, VA and had been a resident of Danville, VA since 1998. He retired from Baldwin and Associates where he worked as Realtor. He attended Timberlake Baptist Church. Michael was married to Revonda Webb “Vonnie” Jenkins, who survives.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, William E. “Bill” Jenkins, and a brother in law, Thomas R. Hubbard. Survivors include his wife, of the residence; a son, Kevin Jenkins, of Rocky Mount, VA, two daughters, Lynne J. Foster, and husband Mark, of Rocky Mount, VA, and Sharon J. Jamison, and husband Chris, of Danville, VA; ; a step son, Wayne Price, of Moorehead City, NC; a step daughter, Angela Gammons, of Sparta, Wisconsin; a sister, Patsy J. Hubbard, and a brother, Richard B. Jenkins, both of Rocky Mount, VA; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren; and his faithful companion, Greta. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel with the Reverend Walter Yancey officiating. Eva Mildred Anderson Boles moved peacefully into her eternal home on Sunday, September 20, 2015. She was a beautiful, kind, caring, hardworking lady, who always had her wits about her. She was the matriarch of a very large family, which included 8 daughters, one son (now in heaven), 16 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and several great, great grandchildren. Mildred loved dearly and is loved dearly by many. She was a strong, southern lady, who taught her children and all that followed to love God and put Him first. She also shared many other valuable life skills with them, like how to cook, sew, save money, work hard, and be happy. With twinkling blue eyes and a smile that could illuminate any room, she loved to laugh and was always cracking jokes or making faces. Born on October 4, 1922, Mildred lived a good, long life of 92 years young. Her family and dear friends will be celebrating her life with a memorial service at Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel on Wednesday, September 23 at 11:00, with a visitation prior to the ser-

TaQuisha Amantea Wilson, 11, of 211 Locust Lane, Danville, VA, died Sunday, September 13, 2015 as a result of an automobile accident. Born August 26, 2004 in Danville, VA, she was the daughter of Kevin Dean Wilson, Sr. and Sheba Brandon, both of Danville, VA. She was a student at Woodberry Hills Elementary School. In addition to her parents, survivors include one sister, Tahiyiah Wilson of Danville, VA; one brother, Kevin Wilson, Jr. of Danville, VA; maternal grandparents, Charlie Brandon and Betty Joseph; paternal grandparents, Dexter Chandler and Lemettris Wilson and a host of other relatives and friends. Issac “Dick” Coles, Jr., 71, of 907 Colquhoun St., Danville, VA, died, Sunday, September 13, 2105 at his residence. Born October 15, 1943 in Pittsylvania County, VA, he was the son of the late Issac Coles, Sr. and Martha Lipford Cardwell. He was married to Virginia Davis Coles, who survives. In addition to his wife, of the residence, survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Coleman and Marilyn Coles, both of Danville, VA; god-daughter, Rianda Walker of Chatham, VA; five sons, Isaac Lewis Adams of Danville, VA, Issac H. Coles and Corrie Carter, both of Chatham, VA, Antonio J. Carter of Dallas, TX and Rickey Carter of Gretna, VA; three sisters, Myrtle Saunders of Chatham, VA, Hazel Simms of Chester, PA and Sarah Crews of Danville, VA and a host of other relatives and friends. William “Bill” David Griffith, 70, of 719 Pleasanthill Drive, North Chesterfield, VA., formerly of Ringgold, passed away peacefully at home on September 15, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Born April 1, 1945, in Danville, VA., he was the son of the late Jesse Raymond Griffith and Lois Worsham Griffith. He was also predeceased by two sisters, Patsy Baker and Margie Dishman, and a brother, Lawrence K. Griffith. He leaves behind his faithful, loving wife of 49 years, Eunice Griffith; two daughters, Leslie White (Hezekiah) of Washington, D.C. and Anne Morrisette (fiancé Fred Williams) of Ringgold, VA.; one son, Lawrence David Griffith (Cynthia) of North Chesterfield, VA.; six grandchildren, Ryan Griffith (Catie), Laura Griffith, Alexis Morrisette, Michael Griffith, Sarah Williams, and Benjamin Griffith; two greatgrandchildren, Jackson and Willa Griffith; two brothers, Gene R. Christine Theresa Korcz Tyburski
Christine Theresa Korcz Tyburski, 68, of Candlewood Drive in Blairs, was called to her Heavenly home on Wednesday, September 16, 2015, after an extended battle with cancer. She was born on July 22, 1947, in Brooklyn, New York, daughter of the late Walter Korcz and the late Jean Gondek Korcz. She was a devoted and loving daughter, mother, grandmother, and friend, and a faithful servant of her Lord Jesus Christ. Christine was strong in her faith. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and loved singing and praising God both during services and in everyday life, found strength in daily prayer, and shared her belief in and passion for a loving God and the communion of saints with young people. “Mrs. T” had an impact on the lives of hundreds of students and families in the Sacred Heart Catholic School and Church communities, where she served as a teacher’s aide, religion teacher, First Holy Communion organizer, and afterschool program coordinator over 21 years before her retirement in June 2015. In addition to her service at Sacred Heart during more than 30 years of residence in the Danville area, she had previously worked at Sylvan Learning Centers of Danville, for Karen’s Hallmark in Piedmont Mall, and as a loan servicing officer at Sovran Bank. She is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth S. Tyburski of the residence, to whom she was married for 42 years; three devoted sons, Kenneth C. Tyburski of Raleigh, Kevin Tyburski and his wife Stephanie (Hefti) of Danville, and Mark Tyburski, of Richmond; one loving sister, Diane Swanson, of Bethpage, New York; and two wonderful grandchildren, Ethan and Ellyana. The family will receive visitors at the residence during the week and at a wake from 7:00-8:30 PM on Friday, September 18, 2015, at Townes Funeral Home on W. Main St. in Danville. Richard Lee Blankenship, 50, of 523 Blair Lane, Keeling, Va. passed away Monday, September 14, 2015, at Virginia Baptist Hospital in Lynchburg, Va. He was born July 26, 1965, in Danville, Va. to Ruth Merle Shelton Blankenship and the late Bobby Lee Blankenship. He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Jill Brumfield Blankenship. Mr. Blankenship was an avid bow hunter and enjoyed building and riding motorcycles. He worked for CRB Electric, Inc. as an Electrical Control System Design and Programming Technician, utilizing his degree in General Electronic and Maintenance Mechanics. Mr. Blankenship was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. On the evening of September 18th, our loved one went home to be with Jesus after a decline in his health over the last few years. Jack was one of six children (Charlie Elixson, Harold Elixson, Betty Handler, Edwin Elixson, Daisy Elixson) born April 24, 1937 to Charlie Thomas Elixson and Lucille Chamberlain Elixson in Pittsylvania Co., VA. Jack lived most of his life in Pittsylvania Co. retiring to Providence, NC. Jack met the Lord in his early 20’s and was baptized in a private pond in Ringgold, Va. He held many positions in his life as a servant of the Lord. Before his decline in health he was an active member of White Oak Worship. Along with his love for farming, he held
a career in maintenance. Jack was a people person. He loved the company of others and just being able to talk to them. He had a very unique sense of humor and a beautiful smile. Jack has been happily married to his wife, Elma Simpson Elixson for 60 years. They have six children; Anthony Elixson (Trina), Linda Elixson, Delores Elixson Myers (Steve), Jonathan Elixson (Sandy), Kenneth Elixson, Irvin Elixson Jr. and Deborah Barbour (stepdaughter). He has 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren that he adored. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, September 21, 2015 at Norris Funeral Services, West End Chapel, Danville, Va, with Pastor Roger Ewing officiating. Interment will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens, Danville, Va. The family will receive friends from 10 – 11 a.m. prior to the funeral service at the funeral home at other times will be at the residence, 723 Cascade Lane, Providence, NC.
