Bernice Saunders, 86, of 2344 Riverside Drive, Danville, VA, died, Monday, August 25, 2014 at the Riverside Health Care Center. Born October 11, 1927 in Pittsylvania County, VA, she was the daughter of the late Babe and Cordie White Saunders. Survivors include one sister, Lettie Saunders of Washington, DC and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by four sisters, Georgie W. Winters, Sallie B. Saunders, Willie B. Saunders and Rebecca S. Palmer; seven brothers, Lynwood B. Saunders, Jessie Saunders, Robert D. Saunders, Clarence Saunders, James Saunders, Edward R. Saunders and Moses Saunders. Graveside services were conducted on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at 11 AM from Greater Triumph Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Michael K. Ferrell officiating. Fisher & Watkins Funeral Home is assisting the Saunders family.

Rosetta Scott Cobbs, 64, of 130 Greenwich Avenue, Danville, VA, died,
Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at her residence. Born December 28, 1949 in Danville, VA, she was the daughter of the late Roosevelt Scott and the late Lennis Dillard Scott. She was married to James E. Cobbs, who survives. In addition to her husband, survivors include two sons, James M. Cobbs and Felix Cobbs, III, both of Danville, VA; one step-daughter, Luewanda Chandler of Raleigh, NC; four sisters, Bernice Beasley and Ann Wilson, both of Danville, VA and Estelle Johnson of Roxboro, NC and Loretta Womack of Leasburg, NC; two brothers, Roosevelt Scott, Jr. and Tony Scott, both of Danville, VA; and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Ernestine Winslow. Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at 1:00 PM from Vance Street Baptist Church with Rev. Eufrecina attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She loved spending time with her family, loved to laugh and loved gardening. Eufrecina also liked to watch boxing and previously ran track. Mrs. Suerte was very happy to come to America to see her daughter after 35 years and to meet all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will all miss her very much. Mrs. Suerte is survived by three daughters; Vilma Virtudes Thomas and husband George of Danville, Ramona Suerte of the Philippines and Virginia Suerte of the Philippines: three sons; Victor Suerte, Lito Suerte and Gerry Suerte all of the Philippines: twelve grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by a daughter; Jonafen Suerte. A Memorial Mass will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, officiated by the Reverend Father Anthony Marques. Ray Nell Collins Holley, 81 of Dry Fork, VA died, Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Riverside Health and Rehab Center, Danville, VA. Mrs. Holley was born May 30, 1933, in Caswell County, NC; to the late Sterling and Gladys Moore Collins. She was a member of Emmanuel Pentecostal Holiness Church; where she was very active; she served as the former president of the Women’s Ministries and sang in the choir.
