HELSINKI CENTRAL LIBRARY International competition , Helsinki with Menomenopiù Architects

The Helsinki library will be situated in the new green hart of Helsinki. The project will occupy 4500m² of this land .The intention is to give back the green we subtract to the park in a perfectly controlled climate. To do this we decided to conceive the building as a tree forest enclosed in a climatic box in which the structure interprets the causality of the wood . The natural organization of the pillars is then reproduced on the glazed envelope that represents the link between nature and architecture ,the light and the shadows. The mainly transparent facade gives to the building a high visual permeability allowing almost complete lecture of the internal events to the observer and a strong link to the outside nature to the client. The envelope lifts allowing the life in and through it reducing the urban limit between Takatoolo park and Alvar Aallon Katu street . In the box the programme develops in a spiral which reaches the green winter gardens just under the roof structure. The slab system will be completely open space leaving an extreme flexibility to the program organization. Extensible partitions are hidden through all the building in the pillars giving the opportunity to privatize different elements of the program (client office, work room etc.)when needed. Each slab is provided with energy supply and technological ceiling which will control local airflow. The elements of the program that need particular light or caustic isolation or special equipment are placed in fixed closed elements through the project. In our proposition for library organization we suggest an acoustic disposition ,that goes from the non silent spaces placed near to the basement that is in connection to the multipurpose space, where most of the activities will be concentrated ,going to the silent areas in the top part of the building . The semi silent spaces will act as filter in between these two areas. The climatic box preserves the internal microclimate by recycling the warm air of the western double facade. Our accommodations consist of two units, they are serviced by an interface whose existence allows a gradual transition from the street (public space) platforms (semi-private), and (semi-private) consecutive levels to housing (private). The growth of the inhabitant or visitor to this area is an urban and architectural typology for every transition of his career. 120 rooms, living spaces suitable for every way to live. The unique topography of the site and the maximum required (PGA) height are the first items that dictated our presence. The development of different types of habitat is characterized by orientation, configuration and position of our sets built into the landscape. This design is divided into blocks of the complex, recalling the typical configuration of the Swiss villages of hill. The verticality of our built together allows us to minimize the footprint to the greatest possible freedom of public space.Toolonlahki bay. Sustainable Development It is an integral part of the design of our proposal. It is by no means a patch but rather a fundamental element, integrated and developed upstream by all members of our team. The process that accompanies it is the driver of all our stakeholders wire, which had the desire to achieve a project that respects sustainable development and make a obvious. Our detailed analysis of the site and the desire to preserve are the first foundations of our approach. What we have designed is the result of a unique approach to the existing, to offer a vision that is in the future. MATERIALS AND ENVELOPE The facades and structure are made of wood frame wall. -The intrinsic nature of this material promotes ambient neither too wet nor too dry air quality: the humidity is not extracted mechanically but with the architectural feature, ie naturally by walls façade. -The choice of a bio-based insulation in the complex, such as tissue paper, can offer a second life to tons of cardboard and paper. And recycled, they offer summer and winter thermal performance comparable to mineral insulation, with a far lower energy and at the same time developing local resources. SOLAR LOOP Energy landmark for the Freshkills park Staten Island, NYC International competition, ﬁnalist project with Menomenopiu Architects

The aim of the “Solar Loop” is to expose more surface as possible to the southern solar rays. The shape comes directly from the solar diagrams, and deals easily with the sun following it with the best angle almost like a frozen artificial sunflower. The aesthetic of the sculpture is the result of this dialogue that becomes synthesis between the solar power and fresh kills park. This landmark will organize the park life inside and outside. Potentially it could be thought as a no-dimension element that could be multiplied with different sizes on the park’s needs, to produce energy and living spaces. Thinking in small it could be a shader, thinking in big could be an arena to organize medium/big events inside such as concerts, sports events, speeches ; ready to be the new point of reference for the park’s visitors. The “Solar Loop” is composed by two different surfaces that twist one into the other. The first one is the photovoltaic surface always exposed to the sun with the more performances angle, the second is the mirrored surface that reflects all the surrounding to multiply the spectacularity of the landscape as a single either multiple landmark. The Fresh kills’s East Park is the only most sunny part of the park all the year long, and the easiest accessed park visually connected with the Manhattan Skyline. A solar catalyst, a crowd and cultural catalyst it will be the park’s nest.

PLATFORM FOR THE PUBLIC TRANSPORT Herzogenbuchsee, Swiss 2013 The project was created to meet the growing demand to increase the public transport sector. An increase in infrastructure, spaces, and studies in this setore could have repercussions absolutely positive in many fields such as work, communication as well as having a positive effect on the environment. That’s why more and more often, the European Union launches calls for proposals and lavishes funds for projects that want to make the public transport sector always a pawn of the most important economic, industrial and tourism sectors. With my idea I insert myself in a design competition launched by a public transport company in Herzogenbuchsee location in the heart of Switzerland. With my project I want to show that by combining private and public investment through a larger program and measured, one can derive an infrastructure and a program that goes beyond the individual interest, but that becomes a point of reference both regional and urban. The platform will then connect a bus depot to the railroad by creating a new node, and at the same time rialaccerà parts north and south of the city with a pedestrian path. The program also includes spaces for research to meet and work for the company concerned, but also for individuals or other entities in the area. I would like to take advantage of the geographical location of Herzogenbuchsee to create a new connection between the various cities of Switzerland, a meeting point which will help the nscambio of ideas about public transportation and innovation. The idea would be to create a pole, from the character of the campus, for research and innovation in the transport sector but also in opening up to give local support in logistics and craftsmanship to industry and agriculture. A catalyst which, thanks to its geographical position could be a meeting point between companies of the largest Swiss ity but also across Europe being in a very strategic position. In this sense it could act by a very large scale to a larger urban area. The “ Red Kilometer” in Bergamo can give us an idea of how a center of this type may prove to be of great importance not only for companies but as architectural and urban intervention. The strategy would be to transform the deposit into a terminal station where the audience could get by connecting in this way the campus directly with all the cities that the firm reaches bus. The campus will also consider the presence of offices and research laboratories, classrooms and media conference which will also become a meeting place for businesses and citizens of Herzogenbuchsee. The possibility that the bus station gives is that of a direct connection and the campus will have the residences where researchers can stop for short and long periods of time depending on the needs. In this context might arise logic of collaboration with leading universities such as the University of Technology in Lausanne and ETH, and Herzogenbuchse could see a revival, both economically and culturally. At the same time the “infra-Structure” would have the ability to organize the development between the industrial area and the residential area of the city that might prove useful from the point of view of planning and. Probably the theme of transport research might be enough, but it would be nice that the search was not unidirectional but rather that it could cover more areas, perhaps more closely linked to the territory and its productions.

ROGOREDO SATION CONCEPT DESIGN Urban conﬁguration of the station area , Milan Academic work, 2010

The passage of the line of high-speed Rogoredo marks the beginning of a new urban approach in the area. The meeting and the passage becomes the main themes of everyday life and a new pedestrian area with services and a commercial arrangement will make a new southern outskirts of the district capable of attracting not only the commuters but to become a part of Milan. The action is therefore not limited only to the train station and subway. With the inclusion of a large car park with direct access to the bypass heat exchanger will try to decrease the ﬂow of light traﬃc in the city center.

FROM UBAN DESIGN TO GRAPHIC

Urban Relation Multiplier Temporary structure , London Festival of Architecture 2010 It’s very hard to find a friend of yours when you are walking in the streets of a big city, and generally you only take a glance to the people around you. There are so many persons, each of them with his own history, dreams, aspirations, humanity, like you. But you usually don’t feel confortable with them, or simply you loose yourself in your thoughts because in the city there aren’t places where you can find real ocasions of encounters with the other pedestrians. The proposal is the attempt to produce places where encounters between people can take place. Two wooden walls connected by a wooden floor appear in the urban landscape: you can’t see what appened on the other side and your everyday life is enriched by mistery and expectation The small obstruction of the pavement’s section forces the pedestrian to change his way, and forces him to reduce his speed, and, if he wants, to stop for a while. In a moment the pedestrian, who is generally unware the people walking around him, joints the other persons in a synesthetic experience: wooden walls, natural noises, contemporary music, ...

Chass Long Public garden forniture, a space for thinkin , Milan with OBSERVATORIUM-Rotterdam We donâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t need chairs, banks or tables in a garden to rest or study, give us levelled surfaces and leave the garden alone. Concentration was found despite the dirt in a garden corner between a blind wall and a busy road on the other side of the fence. The space between a porch like line of horizontal planks can be used for the same planks in a vertical position without ďŹ xing them. The winter site using the graďŹ&#x192;ti covered wall at the noisy road had to be called a Chaise longue, because that is what it is. The chaise longue is in the tradition of porches and zen gardens

The project aims to create a new social citizenship with a reference area which is the area of development but is not limited to the geographical context but works towards the creation of a true collective experience that finds its center in the ancient concept of TIME. Here, time is understood in each case as OCCASION. This time it is essential to modern man to cultivate his life and those aroun d him. The citizen is farmer seed but at the same time, and as such acts, grows and looks confident and courageous patience in terms of natural cycles and relational processes. The COOPERATION and the industriousness of the people who will be inclined to develop a NEW reality, active and willing to increase the participation and involvement of grassroots collective to acting in the name of a mutual reciprocity. All this will draw a NEW IDENTITY FOR THE ROGOREDO CITY â&#x20AC;&#x2DC;S DOOR, strong and contemporary, avant-garde perhaps, certainly up to the specificity of the place and its citizens.

Cosa si aspetta la grande massa che anche quest anno si è presentata a Venezia?Ma soprattutto cosa serve alla Biennale per poter mantenere un ruolo nel panorama dell architettura internazionale… In una città che è diventa polo artistico con pochi rivali anche grazie agli interventi sul costruito di un architetto giapponese perché non insistere con questo connubio che sin da marco polo lega la laguna e l oriente e non chiamare una curatrice giapponese e per lo piu donna, e molto in voga, per organizzare una mostra che potrebbe far sentire i milioni di turisti dall’ estremo oriente per una volta a casa…e per quanto riguarda il tema del riutilizzo perché non fare parlare rem koolhaas dal suo studio nella vecchia New York…e poi ancora eﬀetti di fumo e paesaggi in 3D…perché in fondo l’architettura è sempre stata una questione di dimensioni
