Airport shows off more art A new exhibition is on display in the arrivals terminal at Karratha Airport celebrating the abundance of sea life on the Dampier Archipelago. Tina Storer started painting just a few years ago after her first visit to the Cossack Art Award in 2009. With no training whatsoever, Ms Storer took to her lounge room floor and started work on her first ever painting, Angry Fish, for her husband. Working with acrylic on canvas, her paintings brilliantly capture the vast array of fish and the variety of colours on show in Pilbara waters. Ms Storer has previously donated a number of paintings to be used as prizes at fundraising events. Most of the works on display at Karratha Airport have been created during the past 12 months. Archipelago Angels will be on display until April 11, 2012 with all pieces for sale and Ms Storer can be contacted direct by contacting 0400 893 214 or by emailing tinacol@bigpond. net.au. If you are interested in exhibiting your own work at Karratha Airport please contact Kim McColl on 9186 8555 or kimberly.mccoll@ roebourne.wa.gov.au.

POLICEWATCH By Senior Constable Newby Community Information: Karratha Police want to remind members of our community once again of the importance of looking after your property by locking it away. There were two incidents last week where expensive items were stolen from the back of a vehicle and the back of a vessel. In the first incident a driver of a Toyota Ute drove into a carpark and parked the vehicle. The ute had a generator strapped to the back of the tray using rope to keep it in place. The owner then went inside and by the time he stepped out of the premises the generator was no where to be seen. In the second incident a member of our community had his boat parked outside his home. Throughout the night a person has climbed on to his boat and stolen his GPS. It is cases like these that we are reminded of the change in times, in the past we could leave items on the back of our utes or leave our gear in the boat ready for an early morning fishing trip but nowadays that is just not the case. We have all been affected or at least know somebody affected from
having their property stolen and it is a horrible feeling. The thought of a stranger having your property that you worked so hard to buy is devastating. Karratha Police work around the clock looking for these offenders and we are successful in arresting many of them. This however does not stop the victim from going through the heartache of losing their property in the first place. Karratha Police ask you to be reminded of the change in times and please make it hard for thieves to steal your property by doing your part in securing your valuables and locking them away. Community Information: Our next Community BBQ will be held between 4.00pm and 6.00pm on Wednesday, April 4 at the park on the corner of Gardugarli Drive and Mariniyarra Loop in Baynton West. We will be supplying a sausage sizzle for all who attend and we will also be giving out showbags. The showbags will contain lots of interesting information on how to protect your valuables plus a few goodies in there for the kids. If you need any more information please contact me at Karratha Police on 9143 7200

PCYC receives $10,000 The PCYC Roebourne WA was announced as the Regional North West recipient for a $10,000 Westpac Community Grant last Wednesday, marking the inaugural Westpac Community Grant Day. PCYC Roebourne WA is one of 55 not-for-profit organisations across Australia nominated by local Westpac employees to receive a $10,000 grant. An initiative of The Westpac Foundation, the Westpac Community Grant program helps support communities where individuals who feel socially excluded, Indigenous Australians, individuals with a disability and individuals facing barriers to education, feel engaged and included. Westpac Karratha Bank Manager Denis Bechard said on behalf of region, they are delighted to present the Westpac Community Grant to PCYC Roebourne WA. “We are looking forward to providing support throughout 2012, assisting with raising awareness and helping with the good work being done by PCYC Roebourne WA in the community,” he said. Michael Nikakis from PCYC said they are very excited and so
appreciate to be receiving this grant for it will assist them on two new initiatives they have undertaken. “Over the past three years we have been running daily after school programs, and during the holidays we run daily activities and excursions,” he said, “We will also be using be using part of this grant to assist a men’s group who began meeting in November last year. “These men meet weekly to discuss what actions they can take to assist their community. “They have held a community celebration day and run a local basket ball competition.”
“We have seen positive growth on this route since the commencement of our flights in 2010 and this additional weekly service provides more travel options for both business and leisure travellers into Karratha,” Ms Saunders said. “We would like to thank communities in the Shire of Roebourne for their continued support.” The service will initially operate as a seasonal service until the end October 2012. Roebourne Shire Council President Fiona White-Hartig said the additional service would see continuing strong growth in passenger numbers at Karratha Airport. “We are already the busiest regional airport in WA with a total of 812,000 passengers moving through the airport in 2010/11.” Significant upgrades were completed at Karratha Airport in 2011, including a $6.9-million front-of-terminal precinct upgrade incorporating controlled parking.

Westpac believes employees have the opportunity to collectively make a difference through fundraising and volunteering and as an organisation encourages employees to learn more about the challenges faced by their local community and to support local charities who are making a positive impact.
The upgrades, in combination with the implementation of new ground transport policies, have already resulted in improved traffic flow and management at the front of the terminal.
• General & Cosmetic Dentistry • Dental Surgeon 18 years experience
In 2012, a major planning exercise will commence to ensure the airport can keep pace with increasing passenger numbers and demand for air services well into the future.

The Westpac Community Grant is just one of the programs supported by Westpac to make it easier for employees to support causes close to their hearts.
Detailed planning work will investigate the modifications required for a new look and feel at the terminal based around the existing footprint.

The Pilbara Poet
by Elise Batchelor Ever had a strange experience with fame? Last week I tried to get in touch with a former student from a few years back, but failed to get past her “people”. OK, so maybe she is in an upcoming film with Johnny Depp, but really now - it’s me. Ah yes, I know. Just me. Meanwhile, a celebratory shout out to Kimberley Smith who recently became the Pilbara Poet’s 200th ‘Like’ on Facebook.
Fame KARRATHA AQUATIC CENTRE TEMPORARY CLOSURE APRIL 3 RD-10 TH Concrete footings for new lighting will be installed at the Karratha Aquatic Centre from April 3rd to April 10th. During this period the pool will be closed. Unfortunately, the timing is unavoidable as the construction is dependant on the availability of rock-breaking equipment. “Fame is as fickle as a piece of ceiling pickle,” chimed Ms Kimberley, a superstar and siren. “One day I’m just mum and my kids are bundled fun and the next day I am starry skies and firin’.”
Thus spoke her greatness who had rocked to fame of lateness with her glowing eyes, her locks of burnt brunette. And with Facebook all abuzz and the media a fuzz she took call on call and with her agent met. “Golly gosh, I love it,” spoke Ms Kimberley, with fine wit as her throngs, her crowds, her Bieberesque gazillions all screamed from down below, “We want Kimberley on show!” And she waved from way above, counting her millions.
And as the skies rained diamonds And she glittered unretiring how she mentally planned out her backstage list. “I want hot chocolate to swim in, bubbly champers dip my skin in and an endless romance feel of drifting mist.” She revelled in her gowns as she sashayed round the town with the groupies screaming, “We adore you K!” And she blew them all sweet kisses and she granted them their wishes as she nibbled on a jam croissant. But hey! “What, oh what is this!” cried Ms Special K from bliss as she noticed jam had dribbled down her dress. “Where’s my butler? Where’s my knave? Where’s my publicist? My slave?”
And she rooly truly tried to hide the mess. And then suddenly, a smell, wafting through, Kim couldn’t tell, just a nagging little feeling it weren’t beaut. And then suddenly, a scream, “Morning mum!” ‘twas all a dream, as her eldest tugged her pjs having puked.

EAST PILBARA SHIRE UPDATE Welcome to the heart of the Pilbara
March 2012
President’s Message
Cape Keraudren
Welcome to another instalment of the Shire update for the East Pilbara for the year.
Cape Keraudren experienced considerable damage during Cyclone Lua. Due to this damage, Council has now decided to close the Cape until further notice to all traffic and visitors. Once repairs are complete, the Cape will once again be open.
2012 is already moving along at a rapid pace. The council meeting proposed for the 23rd of March was deferred until the 23rd March due to Tropical Cyclone Lua.
Blessing of the War Memorial
The next Councillors session at the Newman Boulevarde Shopping Centre will be held on the 7th April between 10am and 12 noon. Next council meeting will be held in Newman on the 27th April. Don’t forget ANZAC ceremonies on the 25th April these will be held throughout the shire at various locations Lynne Craigie - Shire President
Boomerang Oval Sporting Facilities
The blessing of the War Memorial at Marble Bar took place on Friday the 23rd March. In attendance were the number of children from the Marble Bar Primary School and a number of community members. A thank you goes to Bill Phillips for conducting the service and to Paul Ayres for representing the services.
K
Works for the Boomerang Sporting Facility have begun. The estimated time for completion is September 2012. Soccer clubs can once again utilise the sporting arena for training purposes in preparation of the 2012 Senior Soccer season.
Domestic Rubbish Collection
Capricorn Sporting Complex
Transpacific Cleanaway have taken over the contract for domestic refuse collection in Newman. For any missed bins collections, please contact them on 9175 2598. Over the East period, the Good Friday collection will be on Saturday 7th April. So please remember to put your bins out on the Saturday.
At the Capricorn Sporting complex, boundary fencing and additional lighting is being installed. The fencing will be completed by the end of March, and the additional lighting to the 3 extra sporting arenas will be completed by mid April. This is a great improvement to the junior sporting associations as it will enable teams to train under lights through out the week.

Leisure complex construction underway Concrete footings were poured at the Karratha Leisure Complex project site last week signifying the start of construction of the biggest recreation precinct in Western Australia outside the Perth metro area. Roebourne Shire President Fiona WhiteHartig said she was excited to see the $63.7 million project coming to life. “The new Leisure Complex will provide topclass sport and recreational facilities in one centralised, easy-to-access location,” Councillor White-Hartig said. “In addition to facilitating more than 12 sports, part of the new Leisure Complex will second as an emergency evacuation centre for Karratha and surrounds. “Our community came under threat just a few weeks ago as severe tropical cyclone Lua crossed the coast only a few hundred kilometres from Karratha. “This serves as a timely reminder of the importance of a safe and secure evacuation centre that can service the community during

• Construction has started at the Leisure Complex cyclones and other emergencies.” Once complete, the indoor sports hall will hold approximately 800 people during an evacuation as well as provide a well-equipped and secure base for emergency service workers following a natural disaster. As construction of the Leisure Complex gets underway, eight shortlisted public artists presented their concepts to an expert panel on Thursday for consideration. “Public art is an integral part of the Shire of Roebourne’s community infrastructure projects. The high standard of submissions for this project is remarkable and I am looking forward to the announcement of the successful commissions next month,” Cr White-Hartig said.
Kids on the road to safety The sound of a police siren and the sight of flashing blue and red lights in the rearview mirror can make your stomach do a flip, but that’s exactly what Tom Price children are hoping to see more of with the Junior Road Smart Awards being recently introduced to the town. Tom Price Police have begun a campaign of stopping kids who are doing the right things on the road, with some great rewards in store for those lucky enough to have their names drawn out of the barrel each month. Sergeant Dan Anderson said he has instructed his staff to be on the lookout for kids who are obeying the rules when it comes to road safety. “Wearing helmets when riding bikes or scooters, not riding on the road, crossing the road safely ... that sort of thing,” he said. “We’ll be stopping to have a chat to

them about the great job they’re doing and the excellent example they are setting for others. “We get their name and which primary school they attend, put the names into a barrel, and each month draw two names from both Tom Price and North Tom Price Primary Schools. “We then attend a monthly school assembly where we award the lucky winners a $50 voucher. “ Scott Hansen from Fortescue Metals Group, who is providing the funding for the prizes, said that Fortescue was keen to get on board with the Junior Road Smart Awards.

Latest happenings at Tambrey PS By Kate Lyon The Year one to four students at Tambrey Primary School have been attending swimming lessons at the Karratha Aquatic Centre. All are learning new skills and developing their swimming technique. Because the school is growing so big, the Year 5 to 7 students will be doing their swimming lessons early in Term 2. The school recently received their products from the Woolworth’s Earn and Learn program. The points that had been collected last year were used to purchase a range of educational games for the school. Two deserving students from each class were selected to visit the library one day at lunchtime to play with the new equipment and the general opinion was that the games were lots of fun.
• Year three student Callum and his dad Mick Jones riding to school
Ride2School at Millars For the first time, Millars Well Primary School has formerly supported Ride2School Day, which was held on Wednesday, March 21. In the past, the school has incorporated riding to school through their Walk Safely to School Day, which will occurs in term two. Deputy principal Gareth Palmer said that with a large percentage of their students making a journey of over a kilometre to school, they value their active means of travelling to school – be it walking, scooting or riding. “On the Ride2School Day we had an increase in the number of students riding to school and we greatly appreciated the assistance of parents and carers who supervised their own children as they rode to and from school,” he said. “Ride2School is supported by Millars Well because it reinforces healthy messages about students being active and having at least 30 minutes of physical activity each day and also supports the learning within health programs that we deliver at Millars Well. “The school community thanks Jackie Newby, the Community Police Officer, for her wonderful work with classes in demonstrating and modelling ride safety strategies. “Jackie was at Millars for two consecutive days and students and teachers appreciated her messages and the wonderful manner with which she mixed with the students.”

Celebrating Harmony Day Millars Well Primary School celebrated Harmony Day recently, for the fifth year. Deputy principal Gareth Palmer said that it is valued greatly by the school community and celebrates the diversity of cultures that is at Millars Well Primary School. “The students overwhelmingly support the messages behind Harmony Day,” he said. “Which include, everyone belongs, which means all Australians are a welcome part of our country, regardless of their background. “It’s a time at school to reflect on where Australia has
come from, recognising the traditional owners of this land. “It’s also about community participation, inclusiveness and respect – celebrating the different cultures that make Australia a great place to live.” Mr Palmer said the response was overwhelming with over 40 different traditional cultural costumes worn and most students wore the orange and rainbow colour clothing reflecting Harmony Day. “We raised $480 through gold coin donations,” he said. “This money will go towards our two World Vision children that we sponsor.”

The Chocolate Tree is a small locally owned company based in Dampier, Western Australia. Having lived in the Pilbara for 27 years and raising two children here, Fiona Rinaldi felt it was time to introduce something a little unique to the area, which is how the concept of The Chocolate Tree has taken place. Having starting out making a few gifts for friends and family, Fiona soon began believing that she could make something out of her hobby and make it her passion of starting her own business. Each unique gift has been designed with the same passion and attention to detail as the last, to ensure you have a truly stunning gift to be admired by all. Their baby gifts can also be personalised with the new arrivals name, just to make it that little extra special.

Soroptimists International – Karratha and Districts are very pleased to have Brenda Njeru come along to speak at their monthly dinner meeting for April. Ms Njeru, an electrical engineer for Woodside, is a young woman of many talents and a great deal of enthusiasm. Her passion is inspiring others to make a change, in particular by her work in ‘Healing Africa From Within’. This project looks at different ways to make a change and also show the beauty of Africa from the eyes of someone who loves it. Ms Njeru has talked for other groups, including Rotary International and radio programs. Her talk for the dinner evening will focus on women in Africa, as well as her own drive to inspire and incite others to achieve positive change. The Karratha Soropotimists group hold regular dinner meetings to bring together women in the community and highlight their achievements and work. These are light hearted and relaxed evenings to which both residents and visitors to the region are invited. This month’s meeting featuring Ms Njeru, will be held at the Karratha International Hotel, in the Goldfinch room from 6.30pm on April 4 at a cost of $25 per person. The club welcomes all newcomers who would like to enjoy an informative and inspiring evening out with friendly and welcoming women. For more information, contact Arran McOScar on 0408 938851 or email at arranmc@bigpond. com.

Spectacular racing at NWO By Janine Wain
• Allanah Baxter
• Eight-year-old boys 50m freestyle winners Dakota Tesling-Paraburdoo Laken Wain and Harry GualterKarratha
• Swimmers of the Meet and Fastest 100m swimmers
The Karratha Swimming Club held its annual North West Open last weekend with 208 swimmers competing for the top spot in over 100 events. Two days of spectacular racing saw many swimmers achieving enormous personal best times. Officials travelled from across the state to run the event, with local referee Sharon Streatfield and referee in training Deb Watts also officiating. The battle for medals in the pool was fierce. In the eight-year-old 50m events, Karratha’s Stevie Stanley dominated, with newcomer Emily Krueger showing she is also a force to be reckoned with, taking out the breastroke gold. The eight-year-old boys saw local Laken Wain and Paraburdoo’s Dakota Tesling fighting it out for first place in many of the swims. Keldon Wain and Paraburdoo’s Lucy Rimmer lead the medal tally in nine-year-old events. Mollie Bayliss and Jesse Ryan from Broome took out most of the gold medals in the 10-year-old events. However, Karratha duo Mikaela Wilson and Isobel Norris proved too strong in the girls’ butterfly taking first and second place. In the 11-year-old 50m swims, Broome’s Conor Stone dominated, with many close challenges from local Ross Rann and Hedland’s Harrison Wass. Belinda Cole won gold in most of her events, with local Jacynta Felix close at her heels. In the 50m backstroke event there was a mere 0.01 of a second
between them. Carnarvon’s Carly Chambers, Broome’s Sean McNamara and Exmouth’s Johnie King were the top contenders in the 12-year-old events. Karratha swimmer Macie Bennetts and Wickham’s Chenin Bez also shared top spot on the podium for many of the 13-year-old swims. Sam Fitzgerald and Fraser Jeffrey also took out gold on multiple occasions. Other worthy mentions were Allanah Baxter, Bella Castorina, Mikaela Rice, Makayla Deacon, Matthew Oronce, Jack Bowins, Austin Williams, Jacinta Sampey, Thomas Turton, Tre Andrews, Belinda Evans, Sara Cvitan and Ayden Saylor who all stepped up to the podium on multiple occasions. The fastest 100m freestyle trophies were awarded to Jesse Ryan, Mollie Bayliss, Johnie King, Macie Bennetts, Kaleigh Fitzgerald and Talara-Jade Dixon. The ‘Swimmer of the Meet’ saw the 10 & under girls awarded to Mollie Bayliss with Keldon Wain & Jesse Ryan tying for the boys’ trophy. Macie Bennetts and Johnie King took out the 11-13 year old ‘Swimmer of the Meet’ trophy and the senior winners were Broome’s Talara-Jade Dixon and Joe Handscombe. Karratha Amateur Swimming season is coming to an end. The club would like to thank all their sponsors for their fantastic support during the 2011/2012 season. If you are interesting in joining the club, please email kasc@ westnet.com.au.

• The Rangers took the top spot in the Mixed up March program
Rangers take top spot By V Swans regional development manager Clint Degebrodt Tom Goucke had a birthday for the Rangers scoring two goals to help his team take top spot in the Mixed up March program at Bulgarra Tennis nets last Wednesday night. With a hat trick of wins over the Pirates, Wallabies and Tigers, the Rangers were unstoppable. Meanwhile Jordan Ryan and Benjamin Watts stared for the Tigers with fats feet and sharp passing in a mixed night for the team from Nickol who managed a loss, a draw and a win from their three starts.
Kylie Farrawell found the back of the net on a night when scoring was difficult due to the sound defence of renowned backs Aiden Wilknson, Tyler Clews, Daniel Macaulay and Barry Girling. It was a night for the midfielders to shine with great dash from Pat Longbottom, Ally Steer, Annabelle Little and James Dalla. The Mixed up March program continues next Wednesday at 6.30pm following the junior ‘Hooked in2 Hockey’ registration that coincide with the Kookaburas visit. Have a game yourself, sign the kids up and rub shoulders with the number one hockey team in the world, all at Bulgarra tennis courts from 5pm this Wednesday, April 4.

Just a reminder though to respect yourself and your club. To our coaching staff congratul ations in getting both teams POINTS - on0top of the Ladder, this just doesn't happen it takes a lot of planning and attention to detail. I am hoping that all sponsors can return next season to make your club even bigger and stronger.

challenge now begins. To any one else that's been part of the team this year from running the lines to the beer van the kiosk to helping out after games etc your contribution has been invaluable. And last but not least to the committee - thank you all.
To all the players that went up to Headland to play Rovers a job well done we now have to concentrate on our last game, it also became quite obvious that we have to avoid the niggle, and play the football we can. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Lamby for driving the bus, never an easy job especial y on the way home, when the big reds are running near Roebourne.

Lastly to Peta and Westy on a great job on the Newsletter it started as an idea from the committee room to blossom into a much missed publication if not available, the newsletter has travelled quite extensively with copies ending up all over the world, hello to Nigeria and London. Its been a great way to get our sponsors message across, lift player profiles however misguided, also to pass on those little quirks of nature that happen. But most never get to see the time and effort put in by our budding editors.

There is a rumble of excitement as Ovation Performance Company looks forward to returning to classes after the Easter break following a successful launch in February. Classes are offered across ballet, jazz and tap with tuition in RAD and CSTD syllabi. Parents have responded positively to the attention given to skill development and the high level of one to one tuition throughout. But mostly, just how much their kids love coming to dancing. With Ovation’s encouragement, and in line with international standards, all students attend ballet classes. “Some people have been hesitant about the idea of ballet being compulsory,” says principal teacher Megan Wood-Hill. “However any fear has quickly eroded following trial classes.” “We have fifteen year old students who are new to ballet rising to the challenge and learning different ways to move their bodies and really enjoying themselves. “Improvements in performance capabilities are already evident and this has been both rewarding and highly motivating for all involved.” For their younger students Ovation combine ballet and jazz into a single class, keeping it exciting and fresh. “Our tap students are so enthused by the ‘coolness’ and complexity of Miss Leah’s tapping choreography that we see them practising tap during spare moments in their other classes!” Megan said. “We strongly encourage anyone thinking about taking a leap to come and check us out. “Trial classes are available free of charge and obligation free across ballet, tap and jazz. Ideally we would like our students to acquire skills across all three styles of dance. “Ultimately, we want them to shine.” See the website for more information www.ovationperformance.com.au. Term two and performance choreography commences Monday, April 23. PS. For current students, the splitz challenge is on over the holidays!

and special guest coach and Pilbara AFL Women superstar Dolores Brockman took one team, and Karratha Senior High School Sport and Recreation students took the other Josie and Marianne and Canning won the toss and kicked with the wind. The Yellows burst forward and scored from the first takeaway with the run and stun of Coach Brockman evident in her chargers. The Reds answered with a strong mark and goal to let everyone know that they came to play.
The game ebbed and flowed until the Yellows kicked away late in the match to take the game five goals to three. The goals and the game were great but the best part of the evening was the smiles from all the players which made the night a great one for all that played and the small crowd that gathered to watch. Next Tuesday marks the last week of the initial program with the possibility of more female footy in term 2, all girls in year 4-7 can walk up to Bulgarra Oval on Tuesday night at 5pm and have a game.

Inclusion WA to hit Karratha again During the April school holidays, Inclusion WA will work with community groups and sporting clubs in Karratha and surrounding areas providing a multi-sport holiday program to kids of all abilities living in and around Karratha. Inclusive WA is a program open to people aged seven-30 of all abilities, however it was targeted at children with disabilities and their siblings in particular. Four different sports will be allocated across two weeks including swimming, lawn bowls, basketball and football. Plus, children who attend three of more sessions will receive a ticket towards the draw for a major prize, and every friend they bring along, they get another ticket. Denver De Cruz and Matt Shaw are the guys behind the program and have gotten to know each regular person who signs up. “The kids all work together and really shows the strength of the program, kids of all ages, whether they have a disability or not join in,” Denver said. “It shows kids from
an early age that there is nothing different about someone with a disability, that a disability doesn’t set someone apart from life. “So many people have become involved, organisations, schools, carers and the response has been really positive,” he said. “Our biggest goal is for all kids that grow up in Karratha that engage in the program to know that having a disability doesn’t need to hold them back in life.” In the first week there will be swimming at the Karratha Aquatic Centre on Wednesday, April 11 from 1-3pm, lawns bowl at the Karratha Lawn Bowls Club on Thursday, April 12 from 9-11am and basketball at St Luke’s College on Friday, April 13 from 11am-1pm. In the second week there will be Aussie rules football at St Luke’s College on Monday, April 16 from 11am-1pm and lawns bowl at the Karratha Lawn Bowls Club on Tuesday, April 17 from 9-11am. For more information about getting involved with Inclusion WA contact Denver De Cruz on 0404 033 683 or Matt Shaw on 0419 725 168.

guilt
By Jo Cooper Teams of two “paired up” to play a challenging afternoon of “golf with guilt”. If you didn’t score and your partner did your team recorded a zero for that hole. Lots of laughs! The overall winners went to: Back nine winners were team Shaun Uys and Bruce Livingstone and second went to Steve Thomas and Dieter Sohns. Front nine winners were team Ken Wilcocks and Robert 4D Ford and second went to team Yabbie and Bodie. Nearest to the pin was Thommo on No.3, Ben Tawhiti on No. 18, David McLaren on No.11 and Gina Hipworth on No.16. The longest putt went to Tony ‘Coops’ Cooper on No.18. Best second shot went to Charachy on No.2 and Chris Whitt on No.13, while the best third shot went to Bodie Broun on No.4 and Gary ‘Flash’ Wieland on No. 12. The longest drive went to Bodie Broun on No.7 and Shaun Uys on No.17. Long time supporters of the Karratha Golf Club, Air Dynamics, supplied the prizes for “multiplied score” competition on the weekend. The winter season starts on Saturday, April 7, kicking off with an Ambrose match. Traditionally a great opportunity to introduce a new player to the club. We encourage all to bring a friend who might like to give golf a try in this social game on the weekend. A reminder that the Police Golf Day is to be held on May 6, 3-ball Ambrose event, get a team organised and nominate at the club, (nom forms available at the club). For more information, contact the Ladies captain - Gina Hipworth 0407 981 479 or the Clubhouse on 9185 1045.
