PAGE 8- (5 panels, 3 insets) The consciousness transfer lab PANEL 1 Top 1/2, whole width. In room's center, there are two vertical Plexiglas cylinders with monitors for vital signs and brain waves. A man is seated at the master control desk between the two tanks like a church organist. Two half-circle ramps rise from the lab floor to opposing sides of a gangplank that provides access to the open tops of the cylinders. On the gangplank, two techs in white jump suits (like silicon chip workers) check the machines. Two subjects, wearing spandex shorts, are suspended in the CONSCIOUSNESS TRANSFER MACHINES like fetal pigs in neon green formaldehyde. Both Ken and Lucas are connected to IV tubing, modified SCUBA breathing equipment and blinking VIRTUAL REALITY HELMETS that cover everything but the face. SYMBIOGENESIS HQ -- 7TH FLOOR CLONE ROOM - (EXPOSITION) In a dark room, a few men in hooded white bunny suits walk on the pathways created by hundreds of eight by three foot baths sunken into the floor. Yellow fluorescent light streams up from these baths. The back lighting makes it hard to make out their features, but each one clearly contains a human body. 1 CAPTION: Telomerase and replacement organs were controversial but accepted by most. Ken Garrett's alternative to biosynthetic organs was not. PANEL 2 Right 1/3, top 1/2: high angle from foot of bath: A woman's naked body floats. She is perfect but cropped at the neck. The claw grabs the clone marked "023-Zeta." The tech helps guide the claw to get a good grasp but he recoils a little, slightly averting his gaze. They look like teenage versions of ALPHONSO HUNTINGTON, billionaire industrialist. 2 VOICE (OP): You know it can't feel a thing. baby.

PANEL 6 Right 1/3, bottom 1/4: Like a giant carnival arcade game with stuffed animals, a stainless steel claw with three foot pincers opens above a funnel at the far side of the room, like the top of a giant meat grinder. A sign above the funnel reads "to Operating Room." The clone is falling from the open claw halfway down to the funnel.

Anesthesiologist's hand holds up medical record on a clipboard with the face and name of Alphonso Huntington. Three shot of Surgeon, Nurse and the face down patient. 1 Surgeon: Look at this scar tissue. 2 Nurse: you'll never get one of those Prometheus kidneys in me.
