Only a few months after the success of the fifth edition, comes the return of the Pilosio Award, an international event that brings together the elite of the construction world, with hundreds of business leaders and NGOs coming from over forty different countries worldwide. Since 2011, this great networking event has given credit to those who defend human rights and help to improve living conditions, whether of single communities or of an entire population. The event will take place on April 14th at the ICM International Congress Center München Hall 13 during the bauma fair, the most important in the world for the construction industry with visitors numbering nearly a million in its one week. The featured speaker for the 2016 edition will be Mr Bernard Kouchner world-renowned humanitarian, diplomat, Doctor and co-founder of Médecins Sans Frontières. The winner of the 2016 Pilosio Award is Sr. José Mujica, President of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay between 2010 and 2015. He has been described as "the world's 'humblest' president" due to his austere lifestyle and his donation of around 90 percent of his monthly salary to charities that benefit poor people and small entrepreneurs. The choice of bauma where the 2016 edition of the Award will be hosted, is no coincidence: more than any other sector the construction world, in which Pilosio and bauma operates, can and should be an engine of change as it combines financial resources with know-how and the ability to have a direct impact on people's lives. The Pilosio Award is an annual event that in past editions has seen alternating personalities of the highest caliber, people such as Kofi Annan, Nobel Peace prizewinners, philanthropists, NGOs active worldwide, and other celebrities. Among the guests of the 2016 edition, in addition to Hon. Josè Mujica and Mr Bernard Kouchner, is the winner of the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize, Tawakkol Karman, considered the "mother of the Arab Springs". Furthermore, Syeda Ghulam Fatima, courageous Pakistani human rights activist and Secretary General of the Bonded Labour Liberation Front; Noella Coursaris Musunka, international top model and founder of Malaika in Republic of Congo and all the representatives of the bauma Charity Alliance partners.
