duration : april 2016 - may 2016 ( 2 months in total) “tcdc khon kean” competition is the collaboration work of landscape studio and architect studios to bring out the best knowledge center in suburban area in thailand. khon kean is well known for being ‘flooded’. as designers, we took advantage of this to play with seasonal landscape from dryland to wetland. we also used local herbs and vegetables to decorate landscape. “in this project, landscape concept bases on annual flood and serves as natural sponge. seasonal and local vegetables and herbs are grown here to represent local wisdom to both local people and tourists.” - stu/D/O x ARCHIVE x T.R.O.P

project: “bangkok artists retreat” site: bangkok, thailand year: 2016 type: competition (2nd prize winner) role : designer (architect) with Boonvadee Laoticharoen roles / experience : • sketch design • concept design • developed design • 3D modelling with sketch up • render and photoshop • photoshop plans and drawings • infographic with illustrator project contribution 1. concept 100% 2. sd 100% 3. dd 100% 4. cd 0% 5. ca 0% duration : mar - apr 2016 ( 2 months in total) we began this project with the idea of new perspective to see artworks. we would like the audiences to be involved with the process of thinking before an artwork becomes a master piece. That is the place artists sketch paper in the middle of the architecture. however, the sketch paper itself becomes the elements that give artists retreat privacy at the same time. it was a very fun and creative project of how paper can turned into architectural element. “The Archipaper project introduces a compelling study on the process of making art, rather than focusing purely on the result. As one circulates through the project, long rolls of paper feature artist sketches and in-progress works. While experiencing this artists retreat, the public is not only able to view final exhibitions of art, but also the process itself, which adds a deeper layer of meaning to the project. ” - jury comment from bee breeders

concept Most of the time, art gallery and exhibition space leave a big question mark in visitor’s heart while artist’s spoken voice is not being heard. “Architecture as Paper, Space as the Tools” is our main design concept which derived from the aim of approaching and learning about art pieces from the very first process to the final outcome. Not only that visitor will have better understanding about the development of each art piece, but also, artist will have better and clearer communication with visitor. The main communication medium we used is canvas fabric because we believe in the power of sketches. Sketches are the very first stage of art development, the most fresh and raw idea, the most passionate source of art piece origin.

concept We hang down the canvas row from the second and third floor all over the main exhibition hall on the first floor as one of the exhibition elements. The visitors will see the process and final outcome at the same time. The canvas fabric also acts as the living exhibition and interactive record of artists who stays at “Archipaper”. Moreover than artist’s tool, fabric is utilized to serve as furniture and workshop partition on the second floor and as blinders for artist’s retreat rooms located on the third floor. The fifth floor acts as artists sharing space where they enjoy the breezy, semi-outdoor environment; they can sleep and sneak peak through the hanging net which connects to the main exhibition hall.
