CAMPAIGNS YOU MAKE THE DREAMS COME TRUE In 2019, we make real all the dreams of children who lose or are at risk of losing family care in SOS Children's Village Association. The dream of a 7-year-old boy to be a cook, the dream of a brave 5-year-old to extinguish fires and become a hero, the dream of a 9-year-old to become a veterinarian to cure animals.. CAMPAIGNS I SEE YOU Children that are neglected, abandoned, abused, lost family care and detached are everywhere! Do we see these children we will entrust tomorrow?? As SOS Children's Village Association, we became the voice of children who were not seen with the # I See You Campaign. No child should be ignored for a brighter future!
EMOTIONAL VIOLENCE IN CHILDREN - PANEL SOS Children's Village Association organized a panel on 'Emotional Violence in Children' within the framework of 20 November World Children's Rights Day, with the contributions of the Tangül Çağıner Children's Aid Foundation. The Panel took place in Acapulco Resort Hotel and Professor Emete Biran Mertan, Professor at Bahçeşehir Cyprus University, made a presentation on Emotional Violence Against Children in the Family ”, Assistant Professor Doctor Sülen Şahin Kıralp talked about Emotional Violence towards Children in Schools”, and SOS Children's Village Association Program Development Consultant Fatma Amcaoğlu made her presentation on SOS SOS Children's Village Association's Advocacy Activities. The panel was held with the participation of university students and educators from various schools.
DISSEMINATION OF CHILD PROTECTION POLICIES IN SCHOOLS - WORKSHOP Workshop on 'Dissemination of Child Protection Policies in Schools organized by SOS Children's Village Association was held with the participation of representatives of KTÖS, KTOEOES, Tangul Çaginer Foundation, Universal Children's Rights Association, Cyprus Children's Foundation, TRNC Social Services Department, Kyrenia Thought Association and Algım Private Education Center. An action plan to be implemented with the representatives of the institutions participating in the workshop was determined.
SOS CHILDREN'S VILLAGE FACE TO FACE TEAM n 2019, by the help our donors, who supported us and our friends working in the field and who became heroes for children who lost their family care, 2118 children, adolescents and individuals were provided with care, support and education within the F2F campaign care. We would like to thank all SOS Heroes and wish them a happy, peaceful and healthy year.

GIGEM KYRENIA YOUTH AND FACILITY CENTER Continuing its activities under the SOS Children's Village Association, GİGEM provides social, educational, artistic, cultural and sporting activities. The disappearing cultural heritage of Cyprus, Chairing Course, has been took great interest and intensive participation. Creative Thought and Artistic Production Workshops were also held in GİGEM. By using interdisciplinary fields such as dance, music, painting, literature, cinema, photography and theater, the participants who loved art, creativity and production had a pleasant time in workshops that increased artistic productivity and increased the level of sensitivity.
GIGEM KYRENIA YOUTH AND FACILITY CENTER
This year we visited Kyrenia Animal Rescue (KAR) for World Animal Protection Day. During our visit, we cleaned the shelter with our young people, took the animals for a walk, and donated for the animals to take better care.
PIZZA PARTY
At the end of the year, with the fresh dreams and new year resolutions we learned how to make Napolitan Pizza with Funky Dough at GİGEM. We welcomed the new year with the Pizza Workshop where the participants learned to make pizza and also have fun.
FAMILY STRENGTHENING PROJECT
AWARENESS TRAININGS GENDER EQUALITY TRAINING 14 family members that are supported through the project attended 2 modules of training in August and September. The aim of this training was to develop the awareness of families related to gender, sexual orientation, gender expression, and gender concepts. In addition, studies were conducted on the concept of gender and the role of gender roles in society among the attendees. Activities related to gender roles in education, the cycle of violence, women on media, violence against women in Turkey and Cyprus, were held in the training.
FAMILY STRENGTHENING PROJECT
Domestic Violence Training In December, domestic family violence prevention training was organized with the participation of 41 family members that are supported by the project. In the training, families were told about the cycle of violence, the mechanisms they should contact, and how to get support from these mechanisms. Moreover, information about 155 Police Helpline and 183 Social Services Notice line were provided. The main objective in the training was to enable family members to understand each other and to act together and to reduce violence within family homes.
SOS KINDERGARDEN CYPRUS DAY In 15th November Cyprus Day event was organized at SOS Nursery in order to reflect the culture of our country and to convey the differences between the past and present life to the children. In this event traditional food, clothes, goods, music were introduced to the children and the event continued throughout the day.
SOS KINDERGARDEN ANIMAL PROTECTION DAY In the scope of Animal Protection Day on October 4th, our most important aim is to convey our children that every living thing is important and valuable, to support them to overcome the love of animals and to be responsible individuals, to ensure that they acquire good habits. During Animal Protection Day, our children had conversations about animals, drama activities were made and the opportunity to observe and bring their pets to our school was created. Then, our families were asked to bring products such as food and blankets to support the care of the animals in the shelter and the Animal Shelter belonging to the Turkish Municipality of Nicosia was visited with children and donations were made for the animals.
STRENGTHENING ASYLUM IN CYPRUS
In 2019, our project provided direct services to 1286 beneficiaries. 534 of these beneficiaries from 22 different countries were children. Our team went to prisons, airports, police stations and courts 134 times during the year and supported a total of 768 detainees. In total, 20 different written petitions were sent to the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Labor, Ministry of National Education and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the TRNC. In this way we have rights such as ''Collateral Amnesty for Work Permit'', Abolition of EntryExit Condition for Work Permit”, ''Abolition of No Visa Debt for Work Permit'', ''Printing Work Permit Stamp on Protection Documents”, ”Giving Special Session Status”, ''Freezing Visa Debts'', ''The right to enter and exit even though they are Visa Debts'' for the refugees that live in the ısland. In addition, written complaints were filed with the Labor Department for 4 refugees whose rights were seized from their workplaces and official steps were taken to ensure their rights.
STRENGTHENING ASYLUM IN CYPRUS
In 2019, one-time or regular food and in-kind assistance was provided to 73 families from the SOS Depot. A young person who could not go to school due to the war was registered for exams in order to receive a primary school diploma from outside. This young student who successfully completed the primary school diploma will be preparing for the secondary school exams this year. Two of our preschool children were provided with a scholarship from SOS Nursery for one year. The vaccines of all our children in our project were followed, and 95 people in our project were registered in public hospitals to benefit from free healthcare. All children of compulsory school age are enrolled in our schools and receive regular education. Five high-risk families were reported to Social Services and two children were under state protection in a family with a history of domestic violence. We represented 21 refugees free of charge in courts, assisted 24 refugees in finding jobs, and provided uniform support for our 9 children.
