MAD MAX IS AN AUSTRALIAN DYSTOPIAN ACTION MEDIA FRANCHISE CREATED BY GEORGE MILLER AND BYRON KENNEDY. IT BEGAN IN 1979 WITH MAD MAX, AND WAS FOLLOWED BY THREE FILMS: MAD MAX 2 (1981, RELEASED IN THE UNITED STATES AS THE ROAD WARRIOR), MAD MAX BEYOND THUNDERDOME (1985) AND MAD MAX: FURY ROAD (2015). MEL GIBSON STARRED IN THE FIRST THREE FILMS AND TOM HARDY TOOK OVER AS MAX IN THE FOURTH FILM. THE SERIES FOLLOWS THE ADVENTURES OF MAX ROCKATANSKY, A POLICE OFFICER IN A FUTURE AUSTRALIA WHICH IS EXPERIENCING SOCIETAL COLLAPSE DUE TO WAR AND CRITICAL RESOURCE SHORTAGES. WHEN HIS WIFE AND CHILD ARE MURDERED BY A VICIOUS BIKER GANG, MAX KILLS THEM IN REVENGE AND BECOMES A DRIFTING LONER IN THE WASTELAND. AS AUSTRALIA DEVOLVES FURTHER INTO BARBARITY, THIS SKILLED WARRIOR OF THE ROAD FINDS HIMSELF HELPING POCKETS OF CIVILISATION, INITIALLY FOR HIS OWN SELF-INTEREST, BUT HIS MOTIVES ALWAYS DRIFT INTO MORE IDEALISTIC ONES. Mad Max 2 The Chase Continues - SD - 5 minutes Behind the scenes featurette, focusing on the stunt work, primarily on the two stunts which resulted in accidents. The Extended Composite Version - SD - 99 minutes This extended version takes the 4:3 DVD version, upscaled to 720p, and adds to it every additional shot from the uncut blu ray and the lost TV version. All of the extra footage has been colour corrected to match the DVD version as best as possible, and the majority of the audio is taken from the uncompressed laserdisc. MAD MAX BEYOND THUNDERDOME The Making Of Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome - SD - 34 minutes Narrated by Tina Turner, this behind the scenes TV documentary contains many clips and interviews with the cast and crew. It is unfortunately missing the first 10-15 minutes. The Making Of Mad Max III TV Special - SD - 22 minutes This different TV documentary is short but complete, although there is some crossover footage, it features several segments not present in the other documentary. Spécial Mad Max - SD - 63 minutes This is a complete episode from Les Enfants du Rock, a French TV Show, that covers the making of Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. The interviewers speak to each other and the camera in French but when speaking to the cast and crew it is in English with French Subtitles. Bobbie Wygant Interviews - SD - 16 minutes Two separate interviews with television legend Bobbie Wygant. In the first she speaks to Mel Gibson and George Miller.
