A Minnesota man who has had a long history of altercations with police officers, including being convicted of murdering a Pine County officer, was once again arrested by the Isanti County Sheriff’s Office after a high speed chase and subsequent fight with officers on Wednesday, Aug. 17.
According to the police report, 50-year-old Scott Arlen Lange initially led police on a high speed chase that reached over 100 miles per hour along multiple county roads and Highway 95 after being identified as having outstanding felony warrants. Former Pine City Schools Superintendent Joseph Hobson has graduated from youth fiction to a full-length novel with his new work, “The COODLE Society.” “The COODLE Society” follows Brian, a young man who joins – and eventually helps lead – an organization led by his grandfather dedicated to a variety of causes. In the novel, Hobson explains that COODLE is an acronym for the phrase, “Children, our only defense. Life or extinction.” “The COODLE Society is a group of people who come together to work on child abuse and environmental abuse, and ... to end those things,” Hobson said. “The big thing they plan to do is get groups of people to take on every situation of child abuse that isn’t resolved.” Through the book, Brian wrestles with how dedicated he wants to be to the group. Despite any reservations he might have, over a period of years he comes to accept more and more responsibility. “I started it many years ago right after I got out of the school system,” Hobson said. “Different things hav-
