Nathan Lawrence Johnson, 38, of Pine City has been charged with two felony counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct and two misdemeanor counts of furnishing tobacco to a minor. Johnson is the community development director and city planner for Pine City. Johnson was arrested on

June 10 at Pine City Hall and booked in Pine County Jail, where he remained for the weekend. On June 13, Pine City Administrator Ken Cammilleri said that Johnson had been placed on paid administrative leave. CRIMINAL CHARGES The charges revolve around SEE JOHNSON, PAGE 14

Seals sails to fourth place at State Pine City High School junior Adam Seals took fourth in the long jump competition at the State Track Meet at Hamline University held on June 10-11. Seals was just one of four Dragons to compete at the state level, including junior Aaron Pulkrabek who also took part in the long jump contest, junior Elsie Lundquist in the triple jump, and eighth-grader Alaina Steele – who medaled in the 800 meter. Area state legislators are frustrated that the Minnesota Legislature adjourned its regular session this year without reaching agreement with Governor Dayton on key tax, bonding and transportation funding initiatives. State Senator Tony Lourey and State Representative Jason Rarick met with the Pine County Board last week to review highlights – or lack thereof – emanating from the last-minute crunch of bills and deadlines which resulted in mistakes in the bonding and tax bills that the governor refused to sign. Lourey said he believes the legislative process is flawed and needs to be corrected with deadline adjustments that are reasonable, so that legislators aren’t presented with last-minute bills containing hundreds of pages with numbers that don’t add up. He alluded to the complexity
