One: What are you afraid of?
Xavia and Dick Sheffield
Many: We are afraid of failing, of not being enough, and not making enough of a difference in this world.
One: What are you afraid of?
Many: We are afraid of failing health, of loneliness and isolation, of loss.
One: Today we light the candle of peace, because we so desperately need God’s peace in the midst of all we fear.
Many: God was with generations before, God is with us today, and God will be with us tomorrow. Come, let us worship the Prince of Peace.

O come, Desire of nations, bind all peoples in one heart and mind; bid envy, strife, and discord cease; fill the whole world with heaven’s peace. Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel shall come to thee, O Israel.
† PRAYER OF THE DAY
† PRAYER OF CONFESSION Rev. Matt
DrumhellerPatient God, so often we make decisions from a place of fear rather than love. So often we allow fear to take the place of logic, fanning unhealthy fires in our lives. Forgive us for giving way to fear. Silence the voices of scarcity, shame, and rejection which spark and feed so much of our fear.
† SILENCE FOR PERSONAL CONFESSION
† KYRIE
Richard Proulx†ASSURANCE OF PARDON

† AFFIRMATION OF FAITH
Excerpt from A Declaration of Faith Jesus, the long-expected Savior, came into the world as a child, descended from David, conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of Mary, a virgin. He lived as a Jew among Jews. He announced to his people the coming of God's kingdom of justice and peace on earth. We affirm that Jesus was born of woman as is every child, yet born of God's power as was no other child. In the person and work of Jesus, God himself and a human life are united but not confused, distinguished but not separated. The coming of Jesus was itself the coming of God's promised rule.
Jesus is Lord! He has been Lord from the beginning. He will be Lord at the end. Even now he is Lord.
† THE PEACE
One: The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Many: And also with you.

THE OFFERING OF TITHES AND GIFTS TO GOD (Text 267 367 4910 to give)
ANTHEM Comfort, Comfort John Ferguson “Comfort, comfort now my people; tell of peace!” So says our God. Comfort those who sit in darkness mourning under sorrow’s load. To God’s people now proclaim that God’s pardon waits for them! Tell them that their war is over; God will reign in peace forever! For the herald’s voice is crying in the desert far and near, calling us to true repentance, since the Kingdom now is here. Oh, that warning cry obey! Now prepare for God a way! Let the valleys rise to meet him, and the hills bow down to greet him! Straight shall be what long was crooked, and the rougher places plain! Let your hearts be true and humble, as befits his holy reign! For the glory of the Lord now on earth is shed abroad, and all flesh shall see the token that God’s word is never broken.
