I CORONERS COURT

Skyline Analysis

In this project, the courtroom and lab play a role as servants to move among different departments. For the court, it docks at different levels when some legal support or scientific support is required, or stay on the ground to give a public hearing. For the lab, it takes body and mini lab from morgue to legal departments participating inquiries or to the lab for the further autopsy, or just moving between legal and lab for information exchange. In addition, for keeping the cut-edging technology, the lab would be replaced more frequently than the other parts of the building. So the lab was designed into small units within the structure to meet the needs of changeability and flexibility. It could live and grow by discarding its outdated parts and regenerating newer, more viable elements. For the streetscape, the mobile court creates a dynamic environment that may change the perception of the stability of the cityscape.

I FABPOD Meeting Place (Group work, suporvised by Nick williams)

Fabpod is designed to be a working meeting space at RMIT, engaging new tools and techniques around parametric design, acoustic simulation and digital fabrication. It addressed the changllenge of designing an innovative pod, a space designed to strict acoustic performance standards. It was fabricated using state of the art technologies including fiveaxis robotic milling as well as engaging strong experience in building crafts.

I HARVEST PAVILION AC-CA 2015 Milan World Exop Competition Team: Ping Liu, Yi Zhang

Our design proposal challenges the meaning of pavilion. It all start from the first seed, involving all visitors from the world, harvesting the consciousness of “do little, make the world better”.

A seed planting grid was set up during the construction phase of World Expo corresponding to the building layout

The “Revitalizator Pillars”was built on site during the construction phase

During the World Expo, visitors acquire information while producing kinetic energy which can be transformed into electric energy for boosting irrigation system

After the World Expo, energy cultivated during the expo continues to cultivate the land. This single act of participation brings a long lasting impact to the community

I MILAN WORLD EXPO 2015

Main Pavilion is located at the entrance of Cardo Boulevard, consisting the functions of Commercial Souvenir, Business Centre and Visitor Space. The space can be freely organized in the structural grid within a circular floor plan, and users can partition spaces using a high strength light weight fabric. Information Booth and ATM machine can be accessed along the two main streets, allowing more visitors to make meaningful act during their tour making a positive impact to the local community.

I ALESSI Team: Ping Liu, Sophie Beckerleg

ALESSI MUTANTS is a famous italian furniture brand. In this project, it explored and reinvented the relationship between architecture and industrial object, focusing on a series of smallscale furniture-object studies. These serve as conceptual origin for the unfolding of shapes and surfaces creating a small environment that by hybridization is removed from any initial typology or utilitarian determination of the works. Though these projects begined as architectural investigation of Alessi typology, they would be informed by the contemporary discourse on generative processes and manufacture. The projects could redefine the notion of physical space by warping, pulling and pushing the boundaries of the small objects until they arrive at and constitute new and unfamiliar interior landscapes.
