‘[A] society’s ideology...that complex structure of social perception which ensures that the situation in which one social class has power over the others is either seen by most members of the society as ‘natural’, or not seen at all...’. Terry Eagleton The Floydopia is a imaginary city, essentailly a dystopia fueled by the ideology and values of a modern capitalism society. The project explores the concept of modern life of humans experiecning the oppresion, exploitation from the ‘infrastructure ’ - the economy system controlled by the ‘superstructure’ - the political, religious, ethical system- a theory proposed by Karl Marx’s A Contribution to the Critique of Political Economy in 1859.

This city, ‘the Machine’ is illustrated in a narrative driven approaah. Inspired on the Animals (1977), the people in this imaginarium is anthropomorphically divived into 3 social classes: pigs represent the greedy capitalist class, hypocritical politicans and moralists; dogs represent the ruthless, back-stabbing businessman; sheeps represent the mindless flocks of working class. The story is about the venture of one sheep breaking away from the flock and leding a revolution to the ruling Pigs. The creation of the protagonist also take reference to Pik in the album then movie The Wall (1979). The story comprises of different ideas which echoes the philosophy of the lyrical theme of the Floyd: luncay, sympathy, absence the process of alienation, oppression, anti-capitalism and choice. It also attempt an intepretation of the music of the Floyd, famously defined as ‘Soundscape’, translated into something spatial and architectural.

Temple of PIGS The Temple is located at the very centre of the city and is the hugest building, a superstructure. It represents the ultimate economic, political power the pig holds. The form of Temple is a twisted interpretation of the gothic cathedral, which symbolised religion and morals. The columns have become an organic bone shaped as a metaphor to the greediness of the manipulative and hypocritical pig. Bottom half of the tower is purely commercial, office of dogs and pig-wannabes. The upper half is the Court, then the throne and living space of the pig. The personal space is only reachable by a hydraulic lift and can only be controlled by the pig. The nature of the pig is to do anything to ensure their power is maintained.

Shelter of DOGS The Shelter is a spherical capsule inhabited by the ambitious, materialistic and violent dogs. The space has a sense of emptiness as the dogs spend a minimal time there. The window will become more and more distorted while the dog climb to high position, they need to delude themselves from the ruthless things they have done for the greed for money and crave for power. The capsule is also portable and is controlled by the pigs through a mechanical arm to function as a controlling and spying machine of the city.

House of SHEEP The vernacular design is conceived by the mindless, careless and blind-following character of the sheep. The only special feature of the house is sky window in the living room, which results in a bright and open spatial quality in the living room, therefore functioning as a hub of the house, as watching television will consume a majority time of a typical sheep family. The television, or more generally known as the mass media, is an invisible form of control from the Pigs, keeping them from all the secrets. Indeed, the sky window the only window within the house, manipulating the inhabitants to look at the blue sky and unaware of the danger. The house is also carried and transported by cable lines them to the factory to work.

Revolution leads to the end of an era, change of power, shift of balance and the born of a new leader. It has been an endless cycle through out the human history.
