RUGS
Zinn Rug Gallery
Clean Tips These are some of our favorite quick-cleaning tips:
Fabric Shades: First, vacuum the shade, then immerse it in a bathtub filled with a couple inches of cool water and two capfuls of Woolite. After 5 -10 minutes of agitating the shade to lift dust, drain the water and refill the bathtub with clean water. Move the shade around to rinse it. Blot gently with a towel, then hang fully extended shade from the shower rod to dry.
Microwave:

Put water and a few slices of lemon in a coffee mug and microwave on high for three minutes. Leave the mug inside for another three minutes. The steam softens caked-on food and the hot lemon will get rid of nasty odors. Take out the mug and wipe the microwave walls as usual.
Carpet: Use a dry-cleaning fluid (available at your local hardware store or cleaners) to blot out stains. Wash the stain with a liquid detergent and water to get off any remnants. “To keep your drain pipes running smoothly, take a cup of Dawn dishwashing liquid and when the drain is dry, pour it down. Allow it to sit for at least 8 hours and up to 24 hours then rinse with cold water. The degreasing elements of the liquid will eat through any hair, dirt and grime but they are not too harsh to damage your pipes. Do this every 60 - 90 days (using the lemon scented Dawn will also keep your pipes smelling fresh too). - MARISA MEIER-MOSS; Owner/ HOCOA of Charleston

Removing surface skin can improve texture and tone, unclog pores and make your other products more effective. Not all exfoliants are created equal, so which one is right for you? Physical: • Scrubs with grains or beads, loofahs or buffing pads, brushes, shaving • Scrubs containing ground fruit pits, nuts or shells should not be used on your face Chemical: • Mild acids (like salicylic) that dissolve dead skin cells • Better for those with dry, sensitive or acne-prone skin
How Often: • Those with sensitive, dry skin should exfoliate
once a week or every 2 weeks • If you have oily skin, exfoliate at least once a week • Body parts with thicker skin like elbows, feet and knees can be exfoliated every 2 - 3 days

Buzzz Off! Outdoor weddings and receptions in the Lowcountry are the stuff of dreams...until the bugs show up! Take precautions to make sure you are prepared for the pests. • Spray the Grounds: Many venue sites will spray the area prior to your event and you can contract a pest control company as well. The County of Charleston offers spraying services; visit CharlestonCounty.org for a Mosquito Control Request Form. • Light It Up: Citronella candles placed throughout the area can provide repellant and ambiance. • Offer Repellant: Have bottles of bug spray and/or wipes as well as Bounce dryer sheets for the noseeums. For a natural solution, oil of lemon eucalyptus is as effective as DEET according to the CDC.
