Course
The course at Mollington Grange Golf Club offers a great challenge in a truly spectacular location, set in the heart of beautiful Cheshire countryside. With some of the finest fairways and greens in the Chester area, it’s easy to see why this is one of the most popular golf courses in the locality.
There are numerous challenges as you make your way around Mollington, with ponds, lakes and canals all playing their own part in this challenging round of golf. Measuring in at over 6,500 yards it’s a golf course that can favour the big hitters. However, the tricky holes such as the par-3 17th with an island green and the plenty of other holes that bring water into play make accuracy an even more priceless asset.

Course Tour
Prior to your visit, learn about the challenges posed by each hole and pick up course tips from our club professional to ensure that you get the best from your game. HOLE 1 - The Ditch 351 yards par 4 A difficult opening hole. From the tee the fairway is split into two by a ditch that runs the length of the fairway. The player must choose which side to play, the left hand side is the safer way into the green, choose the right and you must take on the pond that guards the green. HOLE 2 - Hesketh 191 yards par 3 A short hole with an elevated green. There is out of bounds to the left from tee to green with a bunker guarding the left-hand side of green as well. The tee shot must be straight or up the right side of the fairway to avoid all the trouble. Do not be short

as a ditch will snaffle up your ball. HOLE 3 - Willow 349 yards par 4 Not the longest of holes, but testing nonetheless with a slight dogleg to the left. Try to cut the corner going for the green and you could well end up in the water guarding the green on the left-hand side. This hole is stroke index 13 for the men, play it sensibly and you should get your par. HOLE 4 - Winding 289 yards par 4 This hole is a must for boat enthusiasts as the Shropshire Union Canal runs alongside. The hole’s name, ‘Winding’, is an old boating term meaning ‘turning place’ (look for the inlet half way along the fairway). From the tee your shot must be to the right side of the fairway as three large oak trees guard the approach to the green. There are two bunkers on the left of the green to catch the overzealous shot.
HOLE 5 - Cathedral 501 yards par 5 The first of the longer holes on the course with the canal evident again all the way down the left. The tee shot must be true as you also have trouble to the right with a bank of thick grass that runs all the way down the first part of this hole. Negotiate this test and just when you think you are safe you must clear a ditch that runs across the fairway at approximately 175 yards from the green. From here you will see that the putting surface is guarded by two bunkers. HOLE 6 - Boardman 161 yards par 3 Don’t be caught off guard by the second short hole on the front nine, because dangers abound. This green is surrounded by trouble, to the front there are two large bunkers, whilst to the left side are three stepped ponds, and to the back a deep ditch.
HOLE 7 - Lay up 638 yards par 5 The longest hole on the course at well over 600 yards is one of the toughest as well. With water at 250 yards, you would be well advised to heed the name of this hole and lay up. Three solid shots are required here to get anywhere near the green and to be in with a realistic chance of making your par. HOLE 8 - Lily Pond 377 yards par 4 A shot up to the corner of this sharp dogleg to the right will leave 150 yards to the flag. The green is a good size, with bunkers protecting the left-hand side. HOLE 9 - Fountain 541/431 yards par 5/4 There is lots of water on this long par 5/4 and water features at 250 yards from the white boxes. Play sensibly to come off with a five. Gamble here and you could well be rewarded with a 4.

HOLE 10 - Horseshoe 452 yards par 4 The stroke index 2 offers a tough start to the back nine. With water left, right and centre, a carefully-placed tee shot is a must. Your second shot over the centre lake should leave you with a third to a green that is surrounded by no less than six bunkers. Make a par on this hole and you have played it very well! HOLE 11 - Gorse Bank 528 yards par 5 The second dogleg on the course, with out of bounds running from the tee to just short of the green. You need a long straight shot along a fairway rising to a crest some 250 yards from the tee. From here you will have a better idea where to place your second, although the big hitters can go for the green. You will have to go over, or round, the three oak trees that line the left side of the fairway to get to a green that is guarded by a bunker on the right. HOLE 12 - Cormorant’s Rest 342 yards par 4 From the tee you must avoid the large lake, a carry of about
180 yards from the white tee, and strategically-placed bunkers, one in front of the other across the fairway. Clear these and there is another pond to negotiate in front of a green that slopes back down to the water. HOLE 13 - Morgan’s Wall 164 yards par 3 A nice par 3 played over water. With no trouble at the back of a green 16 yards in depth, a good solid mid-iron should secure your par. Only 101 yards off the ladies tee and one of the easiest holes on the course. HOLE 14 - Valley 487 yards par 5 The Valley says it all, really. There are bunkers to the left, bunkers to the right and two ponds down the left-hand side before you play into a green that is protected by five bunkers ready to swallow any under-hit approach. One of the toughest holes on the course.

HOLE 15 - Devaside 383 yards par 4 Once again the Shropshire Canal runs to the left of this hole. To the right is a steep bank with long grass to avoid and there are two fairway bunkers. Another shallow green, guarded by a large bunker in front, requires a well-struck approach. This hole looks easier than it plays - it is the fourth most difficult on the course. HOLE 16 - Parkgate 273 yards par 4 This short par 4 is a real ‘risk and reward’ hole. Big hitters can reach the green from the tee if they are willing to take on the dangers which include three large ponds up the right and rough to the left. Avoid these and there is still the chance of finding the fairway bunker. Alternatively, play sensibly and lay up left with an iron leaving an easy approach over the only bunker protecting the green front right.
HOLE 17 - Island 134 yards par 3 The Island green is our signature hole. It is a tough shot from whichever tee you play. This could be 125 yards to 150 yards in length. Miss it and it’s wet feet, hit it and you may think a par’s in the bag, but don’t be fooled, this is a very tricky green for putting! HOLE 18 - Home Run 368 yards par 4 From the tee the final hole slightly doglegs to the left where there is out of bounds. There are two fairway bunkers left and right at 180 and 200 yards from the tee. A new pond has been added short right of the green that can be seen from the crest of the hill. Clear this and you still have a green guarded by bunkers left and right. There are also bunkers at the back of the green, so no overhitting your second.

Local Rules
If you have not played our course before, you may not be familiar with the local rules. To assist you when playing we have set out below the main rules that apply. OUT OF BOUNDS (a) Over any hedge or fence that forms a boundary of the course (b) A ball coming to rest within the area defined by the white stakes to the left of hole 1 (c) Over the white stakes on the right of the 8th hole WATER HAZARDS (RULE 26) • All ditches and ponds defined by yellow stakes LATERAL WATER HAZARDS (RULE 26) • All areas defined by red stakes

IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS (RULE 24-2) • All fixed sprinkler heads, fixed course signs and benches, staked trees, power lines • Supports and all artificially-surfaced paths MOVEABLE OBSTRUCTIONS (RULE 24-1) • Stones in bunkers are moveable obstructions GROUND UNDER REPAIR (RULE 25) (a) Play is prohibited from any area marked G.U.R. (b) All tractor and machinery tyre marks should be treated as G.U.R. (c) Any newly-seeded area or any bare area that is due to course construction work CONSTRUCTION WORK • A ball striking an overhead power line or any support must be replayed
ETIQUETTE For the benefit of everyone you are reminded to please (a) Repair ball plug marks on the green (b) Replace all divots (c) Rake bunkers (d) Deposit rubbish into the bins provided on the tees SLOW PLAY • Players are reminded to try to keep up with the game in front and not just in front of the game behind
ISLAND GREEN LOCAL RULE • Any ball striking the green from the tee and running into the surrounding water. Ball shall be dropped onto the green at the point where it entered the water with a penalty of one stroke. DRESS CODE • No jeans, trainers or hoodies. Shirts must have a collar

Mollington Grange Golf Club, set in 176 acres of beautiful Wirral/Cheshire countryside, has a wealth of beauty all year round. Our main lounge and restaurant can cater for approximately 180-200 guests with an adjoining terrace area which is very popular during summer functions. Our Head Chef has produced a wonderful Wedding Breakfast menu, but if you are looking for something a little different we also offer hot and cold buffets and BBQ’s. We also have a marquee that is available for functions, wedding receptions and conferences. The marquee has a hard floor standing and French windows leading onto the gardens

and terraced area where you may find many photographic opportunities. The dĂŠcor is luxurious and feels bright and fresh, with its unique pointed roof and exquisite lighting this is the ideal place to hold your reception. The marquee is available for Wedding Breakfasts seating between 30 to 150 people and for evening receptions of up to 350 people. For less than 200 guests we suggest that your evening reception takes place in the clubhouse area. The clubhouse will be dressed with ivy and cream bows, tables will have floating candles or vases and we even supply the cake stand and the knife. All of these finishing touches are included in the cost of your wedding package.

Civil Ceremonies
We are licensed to hold civil ceremonies here at Mollington Grange. The civil ceremony is held in our approved lounge area within the clubhouse looking out over panoramic views of the golf course with its flowers, oak trees and an abundance of beautiful lakes.
After your wedding ceremony, sit outside and enjoy a glass of Pimms or sparkling wine on the terrace, which is adorned with statues, flowers, rock gardens and a lawned area. The picturesque surrounding is the ideal location for your wedding photographs to be taken, before rejoining your family and friends inside the clubhouse or marquee for your Wedding Breakfast.
We will dress the room with bows and ivy on the pillars. We also have bay trees for your use. All setting up costs and arrangements with our Wedding Co-ordinator will be included in the price of the ceremony.

Mollington Grange Golf Club is located in Mollington, Chester. The golf club has good access via the local road networks such as the M56 and M53.
right you will shortly (200 yards) see a sign for Crabwall Manor (to the right). Turn LEFT at the junction opposite and you will find the golf club entrance immediately on the right.
From Chester Take the A540 for Hoylake and the Wirral. After driving over the canal bridge you will pass the Mollington Banastre Hotel on your left and then Mollington Grange Retail/Office Park on your right. Take the next turn to your right, signposted for Mollington, the entrance to the golf club will be found immediately (100 yards) on the right.
