The Course Opened for play in 1992, the 18-hole 6,084-yard par-70 course is situated in 150 acres of beautiful Sussex countryside with a full all-weather floodlit driving range which incorporates two bunker bays and a large putting green.
There are a couple of really testing par 3s, such as the 9th, which measures 220 yards off the white tees. The 11th, an uphill par 4, is one of toughest in the county. The 15th and 16th both feature 90-degree dog-legs and are thrilling holes which live long in the memory, particularly if you safely negotiate the large pond which guards the approach to the 16th green.

Take the Course Tour We hope you enjoy your time with us at Wellshurst. Here are a few handy tips and course notes from our Head Professional Richard Allen which should help you make the most of your round if you have never visited us before. All yardages shown are to the middle of the green.
Hole 2, 354 yards, par 4 A short par 4 where position off the tee is more important than distance. Reaching the corner of the right-hand dog-leg leaves a short iron to the green guarded by three bunkers. Beware out of bounds all up the right. Aim for the middle of the green, which is the flattest part. Hole 3, 173 yards, par 3
A short par 3. You can’t see the bottom of the flag, so when the pin is at the back make sure you take plenty of club. Not long, but still an excellent testing par 4 with a 90-degree dog-leg right and a fairway that slopes steeply from left to right. Hit a long-iron up the left half of the fairway, making sure you take enough club to get to the corner of the dog-leg. You should also make sure not to underclub with your uphill approach to the green.
Short par 4 which can be driven. Clear the front two bunkers and the birdie is on. Alternatively, lay up and leave yourself a short pitch to the green. Out of bounds down the right.
Hole 16, 441 yards, par 5 Long hitters may take on the corner of this dog-leg-right par 5. Otherwise, keep left with your tee-shot to open up your options with your second shot. Then it is decision time: lay up with a short iron leaving a short pitch or go for the green and take on the large pond in front. Good luck!
Hole 18, 184 yards, par 3 A steeply uphill par 3 to finish. Club selection is essential and hit at least one extra club as anything short will roll back to the bunker.

The Professional and the Pro Shop Our golf shop is run by Richard Allen, who has been a qualified PGA Professional golfer since 1998. Richard played on the EuroPro Tour before deciding to concentrate on coaching and spent eight years as head teaching pro at Quinta da Marinha in Cascais, Portugal, before returning to England. He was appointed Head Professional at Wellshurst in April 2013.

It is advisable to book a tee-time with the Pro Shop in advance of your visit to avoid disappointment. How to Find Us Wellshurst Golf and Country Club is situated on the A267 between Tunbridge Wells and Eastbourne, seven miles south of Heathfield. Situated in the Cuckmere Valley in the heart of rural Wealden, we are just one hour from London and only 50 minutes from the M25. For those with SatNav our postcode is BN27 4EE.
From the West (Bexhill, Hastings) Take the A259, before joining the A27 on the outskirts of Pevensey. Continue to the Polegate bypass, taking the fourth exit at the roundabout on to the A22. Remain on this road for around four miles before going straight on at the Boship roundabout on to the A267. Follow this road for two and a half miles, the club will be on the left. From the East (Lewes, Brighton Take the A27 to the Polegate crossroads, before turning left on to the A22.
