AS LUCK WOULD HAVE IT If you would’ve asked Autumn Nelson from Columbus, WI this past winter about her upcoming show season, she may have been hesitant to answer. Nelson’s mini, ANOTHER LUCKY NIGHT, also known as “Lucky,” had fallen severely ill and made Nelson question her last youth year of showing. “He lost a lot of weight, we were confused. He was just skin and bones, so we called our vet out. They couldn’t figure out what was wrong with him,” Nelson said. After the third check-up, the vet suggested that Nelson put him down due to his health not improving. Soon enough, Lucky got lucky and he started gaining weight. By April he was in the show ring again. Just a few short months before their biggest show, the Pinto World Championship® show. “Lucky is very lucky to be here, just in general. Let alone at Pinto World. It means a lot that we are able to be here and showing this week,” expressed Nelson, despite Lucky being healthy and ready to compete. An unforeseen circumstance occurred just days before they were due to leave, which put the 2019 PWC in question for Nelson and her family. “We didn’t have a truck to get down here. So we really struggled to find a ride, but luckily we were able to secure one with another exhibitor,” Nelson said. Once Nelson finally made it to the PWC, all was going well, until right before one of her mini driving
classes. “We were in the warm-up pen and people in my class were already going in, I heard something hit the wood on my cart. I looked down and there was a big piece of metal sticking out of my tire,” Nelson stated. Once again the Pinto community gathered together to help Nelson find a new cart just in time to go into her class and make her dreams come true. We wish Autumn and Lucky the best of luck throughout the rest of her time here at the PWC.
