"Landscape Architecture", in my opinion, is the design using sensible logics, beauty of design strategies and materials usage and environmental spirit to achieve environmental, social rewarding, or aesthetic outcomes. According to what I have learned in classes, I realize that Landscape Architecture knowledge can create a sustainable environment and benefits to the variety of natural and human ecology which consists of horticulture, climate, topography, history, environmental psychology, culture and social phenomenon. I anticipate that my work will not only be a sustainable design but also a rewarding design for society. - Pinyawat Roongsita

ARCHANAI

NANG LOENG PARK CONCEPT : ARCHANAI (HORSE) TYPE : PUBLIC PARK BANGKOK, THAILAND MARCH 2017 250 rai (42 hectares) The Royal Turf Club of Thailand under the Royal Patronage has issued a policy to relocate the turf club itself and make a full use of the current asset by making it a public park for the city. This project is accordingly designed with the ultimate desire to make the original piece of land an extraordinary space perfect for ecological, environmental, social, historic and cultural activities. Because of the remarkable background of the club, the project design emphasizes the origination of the club with the ‘horse’ as the main theme. We have to admit that horse-related sports and activities are expensive and difficult for general public to access. “Archanai Park” is therefore set up to provide the solution. The Park offers horse activities, with reasonable costs, including equestrian trainings, horse ridings, and equine therapy and educational museum.

History of Royal Turf Club of Thailand Under The Royal Pa

1897 On the auspicious occasion of King Rama V returning to Siam from an official visit to Europe in 1897, a group of Government officials and students who were educated in Europe, called ‘Nam Khem Association’, organized a horse race at Sanam Luang ground in Bangkok. The race, the first of its kind and believed to be the origin of ‘Western Horse Race’ in Thailand, exhibited the horse carriage racing. 3

In 1916, King Rama VI gra as requested by Phraya Pradip named the club ‘Royal Turf Club to its primary function of promot has been offered to other sports

Present It is unfortunate that the ‘Royal Turf Club’, established for the purpose of promoting standardized horse breeding and providing sports facility, has become a major gambling site. 4

JUNCTION ZOO CONCEPT : JUNCTION TYPE : KID ZOO BANGKOK, THAILAND MAY 2017 123 rai (21 hectares) It has been a policy of the Zoological Park Organization under the Royal Patronage of H.M. the King to establish another zoo in the vicinity area of Bangkok. The idea is to transfer specific animals from Dusit Zoo at Khao Din site to the new location to ease off animal density problem. The design of the zoo at the new location focuses not only to the core functions of the zoo itself, but also to the establishment of a learning center. People of all ages would be entertained and simultaneously educated by learning of ecosystem and wild animals’ way of life. Camping, plant nursery observation and museum-like environment activities are certainly provided. The zoo is divided into 5 ‘junctions’ or zones suitably designed for visitors of 5 classifications of ages, ranging from children to grown adults. Animal displays and exhibition are designed based on their native topography with respect to the Zoo’s 5 Freedom principles and sustainable design. 18

For children 8-13 years of age who are expected to appreciate the living together of different kinds of animals in the very same environment, the zoo is so designed to confirm what they have believed. The restaurant and the pavilion are designed in Thai traditional styles. The pavilion provides children an opportunity to enjoy drawing pictures with elephants, Thailand’s national animal.

King Junction

1

The King Junction is probably the most attractive site of all as it displays the king-of-jungle lifestyles. Enrichment of lion herding is to be observed. Tug-of-war with lions is also allowed, not only for the purpose of learning the principle of human team working, but also for the exercise of lions themselves. The Lion Skywalk leading to the Live Junction is designed to manipulate lion instincts. Close observation with, of course, maximum security measures is guaranteed. crawling climbing

SATHORN

GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE CONCEPT : GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE TYPE : URBAN BANGKOK, THAILAND AUGUST 2017 50 rai (8.4 hectares) Sathorn Road is one of the main economic and communication centers of the Bangkok metropolitan. With all its grandness comes social problems of every urban cities, such as the homeless, crimes, rubbish, air and water pollutions and especially, the surrounding environment that has been obscured by concrete and buildings. That is why we would like to introduce the concept of “Green Infrastructure” design to reduce some of the above problems. The concept of Green Infrastructure aims to give back and, simultaneously, increase the “greenness” to the area, returning once again a view of beauty and lusciousness. To spearhead the project, the communication node of the area was chosen. This area was chosen for development was because it is a busy area where many people pass and, most importantly, where the BTS, public buses, taxi boats and motorcycles taxi meet. It is an area once developed, will surely make a true difference to the people’s way of life. 34

Green Wall

The energy efficiency of green walls lies in their ability to affect heat transfer between s building’s interior and exterior environment. A layer of plants placed on building's exterior wall intercepts a fraction of total radiation incident on leaves, reflects some radiation, and transmits the rest of it to the exterior wall behind it.

SUTHIJITTARAM TEMPLE

CONCEPT : SA-MA-THA (TRANQUILITY) TYPE : TEMPLE PLANNING LAMPANG THAILAND NOVEMBER 2017 28 rai (4.7 hectares) "Wat Bun Dan Jai" project is aimed to reclaim the significance of temples as community center. Suthijittaram Temple, whose name means ‘place of pure mind’, is chosen as a prototype temple for the project. The planning concept emphasizes the meaning of the temple’s name and the atmosphere of peacefulness. Provided activities are aimed to facilitate Dhamma practitioners. Zonings are designed to match the topography of this Lampang site where the monastery zone is settled on the high point to provide the most peaceful and private place. Buddhist Shrine zone is located in the middle of the area and the Churchyard zone is situated close to the community. In addition to Buddhist activities, the principle of ‘Sufficient Economy’ initiated by Thailand’s late King Bhumibol is also demonstrated at the churchyard zone. The idea is to display Suthijittaram Temple’s visitors the simple way of life. 52
